Heh. What happens when Ol' SkyDog calls his own plays...

Fooling around with the demo. Even I didn't realize that my tendency is THAT run/short-pass heavy. Wow.

Passing is for sissies!!! Real men play smash-mouth!!!

Seriously though, looking at the game log, I realized that I ran every single time it was the first play of a possession. The great majority of my passes came only when necessary (2nd and >10, 3rd and >3). Since I was running so much, I was in a lot of 3rd and 3-to-8-yard situations, so lots of screens, slants, curls and quick outs got called.

SD, I see why your run more... that QB doesn't look too spiffy.

Speaking of which, an exhibition game and only 1 QB played? That hurts.

SD, you obviously set a customized gameplan. So what would had happened if you let the AI played the game instead of you calling the plays? Would the results have been similar or something different?

I'm fairly sure that even in exhibition games you have to make substitutions yourself if you choose to do playcalling.

Geez, could you run it up the middle any more? How about some variety at least, this isn't 1910.

edit: funny to see your only touchdown was scored on a pass.

Well, Quik indicated that there was a good distribution amongst his players in Exhibition, but I think that since Exhibition games are different than regular season games, there should be a special way to handle the depth charts for them.

It would be a good idea to have a separate depth chart for it where you could indicate a players percentage of time, or the quarters you would like them to play.

E.g.,

QB
McSkydog, Ben Qt1 (100%) Y Qt2 (50%) Y Qt3 N Qt4 N
McGavel, Bone Qt1 N Qt2 (50%) Y Qt3 (100%) Y Qt4 N
Play, Ken I Qt1 N Qt2 N Qt3 N Qt4 Y (100%)

Oh! Your comment is when you play call yourself. I gotcha. Missed that. But, I still think the above would be a good thing to have for the game for exhibition games.

Real men run right at you!

Seriously though, I wasn't trying to "make a statement" or anything like that. I was just calling plays how i would call them in a given situation, given my personnel. My starting RB (meant to emulate T.J. Duckett) was rated 98 in "power inside." What would you do? Any good Georgia high school football fan can tell you that "when you got a hoss, you RIDE him!"

This is exactly why there are so many cases of equine anxiety and schizophrenia in the state of Georgia. Similar conditions have been observed amongst sheep in Kentucky and cattle in Texas.

Yay for the X-Factor!!!!

On that gamestart, TJ looked like a stud. I haven't closed that game yet. Here are a few key ratings:

Power Inside: 98
Third Down Run: 65/73
Hole Recognition: 82/94
Elusiveness 42/51

Looks like a serious straight-ahead runner who isn't gonna go for positive yardage a lot.

More info: I let it quicksim the rest of the way. In game #2 of the regular season, TJ had 30 carries for 140 yards, with his longest run being 25 yards. My kinda back.

Note for when I play SD in the IHOF:

Run 6-4 defense. Have Offensive linemen play linebacker.

I never considered it before, but the more I read these threads, the more I think it would be neat if there was some head-to-head playcalling features built in...

Talk about a 32-team multiplayer league taking forever though...

Absolutely!!! On your boxscore, I don't see T.J. Duckett, I see a #45, with last name Nall... Whatever his skills are, they are his and his only...

Reason #3 to use real players is that the name should simply equate to a position. You see Joe Namath, you know he is a quarterback. You have to check out his stats to see how good he is and, obviously, not assume anything other than the fact that he is a QB. In one parallel universe, he might actually be good.

In case you're wondering, I was doing a search for something else, came across this thread, and realized I never answered his question.

Man...if only I can have RBs that average 4.8 yards per attempt. I think at most, I've had 4.0...but I usually have RBs averaging high 3s.

I can't quite figure it out. I've got some pretty good O-linemen, the lowest one rated in his high 60s, with the others panning out around the 70s - and one spectacular 84 rated Center!
