Late Beta Release : FOF2004 Game Planner

I had hoped to get this out a couple days ago, but ran behind. Strange, they actually expect me to work when I'm in the office. Who knew!

Anyhow, here's the beta release of my Game Plan utility for FOF2004. This should (hey, it's beta) allow you to open & view gameplan saves from the FOF2004 demo (the later version), as well as create new gameplans, import pieces (offensive/defensive) from other gameplans, and save for load into FOF2004.

It's a beta, so there's a (shortish) list of things not quite finished; can find that in the About box as well as on the webpage.

Three major notes:
1) The utility works with gameplans created from the LATER version of the demo... i.e. after Jim added the formations, etc, to the export. I thought about adding support to the earlier demo, but figure that once the release version of FOF2k4 comes out, no one will be using the old demo much anyway.

2) As of right now, there is very little if any error checking. There will be in the near future, but at this point it's a user beware - especially for the values that 'should' balance to 100, and the formation personnel.

3) Minimum requirements include the Microsoft .NET 1.1 install - available off the website.

Website/download is available here: http://www.lasselanta.net/gameplan

Please email/PM/post here with any issues found... also taking suggestions for improvements/enhancements.

Thanks to RPI-Fan for early-beta testing and suggestions.

Kevin

Holy cow. This will be great. I am trying my best to move my new programming skills into the realm of being able to open other people's files and work with them, but the rate you guys are doing things, there may not be much left to do by the time I get there.

Did you load the .NET environment that it mentions at Celeval's web site? I didn't pay attention and didn't do it at first, and got the same error as you. Once I loaded that program, his utility works fine.

Oops... Thank you SkyDog.

Hmm, and we were the guys saying we read instruction manuals before even firing up the game in another thread... They say great minds think alike. Maybe they make the same mistakes too...

I did a bit of work that should visually enhance the utility, and Celeval said it might or might not be up sometime this weekend. Regardless, keep your eyes peeled for some changes in the next week or two.

Bump.

Next release should be Sunday, with a few bug fixes and a bunch of cosmetic upgrades.

This works with the full version of FOF2004.

SkyDog - another request for a mod forum; especially with multiple versions of some of these (I'm not the only one with a gameplanner, and I'm sure there will be more than a couple of gamewatchers as well), it'd be nice to have a central spot to no only post releases, but share ideas.

I have a feature request. Right now the game allows you to copy your offensive or defensive settings from one screen to all the others. I'd like to be able to copy just sections of each. For example, on the defensive screen, I'd like to set my man-to-man and zone settings then copy them to all other defensive setups. Or set my CB coverage / double-teams and copy them to all setups. Etc. Basically any grouped section on the FOF2k4 screen I'd like to be able to copy to all other situations on that side of the ball.

I think so. I checked a lot of fields after saving/loading GPs in 5.0d and I didn't notice any error.

Maybe a stupid question, but when I try to put in the numbers for the percentages of passes at certain yardage, it will only let me put 2 numbers .

0-5 yards, say its at 12.4, when I try to change it to 11.8 i can only put 11. but not a 3rd number.

Hehe.. after testing, it's set for 3 characters. So you can go 118 but not 11.8.

Workaround is just not use the decimal point - so 11.0 is 110, and 11.8 is 118, etc. Then balance to 100 and it should take care of it all. I'll look to update that next time I do a new release.
