Elicense

Do you get just one elicense with 2004?
If so, I have to wait until I get home to download it.

I thought someone else on the board said you get two licenses.

Humm. I need to check again. I thought it said one. But I am very, yes, very happy to know it should be two.

Here's one for you.

I bought FoF2K4 and TCY this morning, at the same time.

It gave me the same order id for both. Is e-license smart enough to know that I used on TCY license and 1 FOF license or does it just see 2 used?

I never post here, I read mostly, but I guess now is a good time. I'm wondering how this license works. When you say one install, that means I can only use it once? I am a college student and live on campus but I still go home a number of weekends. Does this mean that I cannot have it installed on both my school computer and home computer? Furthermore, what if I uninstall FOF2004 and later on want to install it again? Also, what if say I have to reformat or my hard drive crashes? I think you understand what I am getting at. So how exactly does the license work?

You just to have to unlicense the product from your computer before you uninstall it to free up your license again... If it crashes, and you don't get a chance to, and don't have one left... then you've gotta contact viatech and have them walk you through.

I installed to my work computer and wanted to uninstall before I left for home, but couldn't. There was no option to do that. So I read the elicense FAQ and read about mobile licenses and non-mobile licenses. Apparently, if you can't unlicense your game then you have a non-mobile license.

I emailed [email protected] and didn't get an answer, but when I came home I could register just fine. Not sure if they've resetted the license or I've used two installs now.

If you look in the elicense folder on your machine, right click on FOF2004 choose "product receipt". Near the bottom mine says "License Number 01/02". I have used the first one of two licenses. One license just would not make any sense as they would have to be restoring licenses 24/7/365. Two gives some room for error and "home/work" installs.

hmm so I guess the real question is, is the elicense for FOF2004 mobile or non-mobile?

So does that mean I can have one at home, one at school? So if I were to have to reinstall the game, and had already used my two licenses, if I contacted viatech about it would they give me a new license? Or is two all you get no matter what?

p.s. sorry for all the questions, it is just that I am leaving for home soon and will have a chance to install and play there and I don't want to screw myself over if I shouldn't install there and just wait the weekend to play it here.

FBPro, maybe you will know...

So I downloaded and installed at home. And I want to install at work too. Do I need to download again? Or just transfer the .exe instal file to my work PC and go thru the steps?

As far as I have seen the only way to "lose" a license is either by reformatting you HD without unlicensing, having a HD failure or when you install "some" OS without unlicensing first. You should be able to have one install on two different PC's at the same time.

And if you do "lose" a license, contacting ViaTech SHOULD fix the problem.

You can either d/l or transfer the whole "setup file".

My 2nd work PC is not online with the net, so my plan was to burn the setup file to disc and then install at the shop.

Of course, then do I have to verify the second install? Or will the license read it without me needing to contact ViaTech?

I think you might have to go through a special procedure in that case (no net access).

I'd say you've most likely used two licenses. It looks like whoever did the elicense setup definately didn't make it a mobile license so it isn't possible to unlicense the game.

in all my elicense experiences, I have never had an issue with viatech over reinstating "lost licenses." I have become a lot better at un-licensing, but should you forget, they have never given me a problem and, usually, I received an email from them within minutes of me sending the request.
