Question XBox...is it worth it?

Hey all,

Looking for some advice, and taking the chance that this may get answered before being buried with FOF2K4 talk...my computer is at the stage where I cannot play the new games coming out (though I will be getting FOF2K4). I do own a PS2, but have not really bought any games for it lately, as I mainly play computer games.

I was at a friend's house playing XBox, and I had a good time doing so. I have thought about getting an XBox, since everyone I know seems to have one.

Is it really worth it? I have a PS2 and a computer (damn old thing), and I heard a rumor that XBox 2 may be out in 2006...should I drop the cash?

Depends how much you like console games, I guess. Myself, it always boiled down to "I like a few console games, but not enough to where I'm gonna spend 200-300 bucks to get a full setup."

Just not worth it. I can spend the money it'd cost in far better places.

I think if you have a PS2 and don't play it much, you probably wouldn't play an Xbox much either. Console games may not be your thing. Plus, if your friends have them, you can just play over at their places.

Buy XBox 2 and forget PS3!! If you have PS2 already I wouldn't buy another console, I've never really understood people who buy more than one. I guess some people just have money to spend?

Some people just don't want to limit their options on what games they can play.

Is there an advantage with XBox over PS2? I know one of the reasons I was thinking of an XBox was for games like Knights of the Old Republic, which my computer will not be able to play when it is released...XBox is the only way I will be able to play it, as PS2 doesn't get that type of game either.

Are there more games that are more accessible to XBox than PS2?

Halo, Halo 2, Fable, Doom 3(I think is only being released on XBox and PC, could be wrong), Otagi(fantastic game)

Basically it's alot of the same games, but with faster load times, better graphics, and other extra things

I use my PC for strategy games, school, and work. I save my xbox for 3d action games.

I've got one of each...didn't buy my XBOX until knights of the old republic. If you're into modding your system then buying an XBOX is the way to go. If not, then most games are going to be released on each platform and you'll probably find enough games on one or the other to keep you busy.
