Request for City Set-up--re: compatability with solo career

I have started my solo FOF career and, in the tradition of the Frederick Tequila's dynasty (as well as, I am sure, many others), I have used the rename city feature to rename the starting 32 cities with names that I feel are more appropriate for my league. (If you must know, I am running the Madagascar lemurs).

I would really like it if, when we ran IHOF, I did not have to change the names of the cities in my solo career to match IHOF cities.

I am sure with the city editor and with the ability to change starting city affiliations, that my request won't be a problem, but I wanted to throw it out there while it was on my mind.

ABM, I would think that the changing affiliation coupled with the city editor might be the way to go, if you want to edit cities that normally wouldn't be used for teams and select them at the beginning of the career. Though it might be tricky in multiplayer, where we'd pretty much need to specify which cities were edited and what city ID's were linked up to teams. I've seen elsewhere talk of swapping out city/nickname files (editing nicknames still seems to globally change nicknames, while at least cities appear to be locked in once you establish a career), that might be what I do.

Which brings me to my Tequilas dilemma. I've only played 1 year of it, but would like to continue, but feel it might be silly to play it in FOF4. So I am considering creating a csv with the players from that career to import into FOF2004. I've actually done the Tequilas already, and it works pretty well with the exception of some return specialist traits (I can set them for guys who have them, but there's no setting for 0 in the player file, the lowest is 1, which = some ability. Setting it to 0 tells the system to generate one at random, basically). Also, player personality traits are a crapshoot, so different leaders will emerge. That can be dealt with though, and with the nature of my Tequilas team won't harm any. QS was right that the underlying engine of how conflicts/affinities work seems to be little changed, we just don't have the convenient guide of zodiac labels.

I would think those of us playing home careers are going to be forced to swap city files (is this possible?)

Otherwise The franchise I have in the IHOF league will be assigned to Anchorage Alaska (for example) while that franchise would be Buffalo, NY on my home career.

Unless you change your "home" settings to completely match the league setup, you're just going to have to keep track of who is who (i'd imagine.).

I'd probably just make myself a spreadsheet:

Buffalo Bills = Rochester Aliens
New York Jets = North Plainfield Plague

This seems like the way it would have to work, but I haven't done any testing to see about compatibility between multi-player and single-user games.

EDIT: I don't know if this post makes any sense. My main questions is "do you need to change your city/nicknames to match the multiplayer universe?"

My guess would be that your team cities/nicknames have no relation to what is stored in the commissioners universe directory. I assume both games simply view your team as an ID number, and let each computers home settings dictate how it is actually viewed.
