After further review - make the call

The Chiefs are driving down the field. They hit the Chief's wideout who makes his way down the sideline, then at the 36 or 37 yard line gets caught up and struggles to gain extra yards.

While he struggles to gain yards, he falls forwards and fumbles the ball at the 33 yard line.

No replay because forward progress was stopped sometime before the fumble. So is the ball spotted at the 37? The 36? The 35? ....no....the 34?

The ball is spotted at the 33 yard line....the spot of the fumble. Sometimes the refs can be annoying if nothing more in their explanation of events.

Did the fumble go out of bounds? Perhaps you are mistaken on the whilstle being blown.

No the fumble didn't go out of bounds. There are saying the whistle was blown before the fumble. Which is why it was a bit odd that the ball was placed at the spot of the fumble.

I think the point is that the ref's may be using rules such as "forward progress" and the whistle blowing to avoid being challenged a little to liberally.

The whistle didn't blow prior to the fumble and the fumble was recovered by the Bengals in bounds.
