Thumbs up The Alien Quadrilogy!

Just found out that they're releasing The Alien Quadrilogy in December. I'm pretty excited about this, since the Alien series is probably second only to the Indiana Jones series on my list of favorites. Just wanted to share the news!

Do you root for the humans or the aliens?

Depends on who is against the aliens. I was rooting for them with the Paul Reiser character...

not my cup of tea, but it sounds like a nice set if you like the series.

in similar (and maybe old) news, rumors have been floating around that Star Wars, Empire, and Return of the Jedi are coming out on DVD next September.

There should only be Alien and Aliens...after that it sucked...like a facehugger.

I heard that Lucas wants to wait until the entire trilogy is complete and release it as a complete set. Apparently he's still not "finished" with the Special Edition and has constantly been making changes. He wants the final DVD release to be everything he imagined for when he supposedly wrote the stories back in the '70s.

hopefully his revisions won't reflect the awfulness of his most recent releases. Can't he just leave well enough alone?

Any idea if the version of Alien in the set i the version that was just re-released in theaters? Added footage or something, if I remember correctly.

Well I guess that means they're going to suck then.

Seriously, I didn't mind the special edition and I like the new ones so far...but something about those special edition ones. I mean, it's weird watching a movie with 70's and early 80's special effects with a few scenes of CG thrown in. I found it kind of distracting.

Good thing I still have my trusty old VHS of the originals (you know, the one's where you can see the background change in the X-Wing fighting scenes. )

Snowman,

it seems like we are getting both, but I'm not sure. on the description, it says "Theatrical release" and "Extended cut". I'm not sure if extended cut is the new one or some old, director's cut.

Yup. Having resurrection in the collection cancels the first two out all by itself.

As for the Star Wars re-releases, as long as Guido doesn't shoot first I'll buy it...

from the review I read, you will get an option for either. If you choose "extended cut", you have an option of having a message flash when one of the scenes is new.

I think all the extended cuts are new ones.

DD,

To think these people call themselves Star Wars fans and they don't even know the guy's name...

OK, Just to be clear on this then. In the original Han waxes Greedo. In the "new and improved" movie, he returns fire?

I kinda thought I didn't remember it going down like that.

Ya, Lucas added an effect that Greedo shoots first, and Han kills him in defense. Ruined that scene for me, personally.

I may be in the minority, but I really enjoyed Alien Resurrection. I liked the humor and the sarcasm.

To quote Ben Affleck, "And I'm not alone in believing that this movie may be the worst idea since Greedo shooting first..."
