Turandot
Just returned from a local (Austin) performance of Turandot, and it was fantastic! The lead soprano (Turandot)) and tenor (Calaf) sounded good to my untrained ears, the orchestra was lovely, and the costumes, stage, lighting, and props were all eye-candy. Simply put, it was a beautiful, 2-hour experience. The only thing I'd change (delete) is the boring "Ping, Pang, and Pong" scene...
My only regret is not sitting closer. Since the theater uses no electrical amplification (to my knowledge), it was occasionally difficult to hear in my $20 nose bleed seats. |

I'm probably the only person in the world who would dare ask this, but...
What is Turandot?

Sorry. It is Puccini's final- and some say best- opera. He actually died before completing it. Here's the synopsis:

Don't you know? I don't like football! I do, however, like Jim Gindin games... |
