Version 5.0a

Version 5.0a is now live. SkyDog has been kind enough to set up his mirror as well.

Just download the new file and run it. It should automatically install.

Old careers will not be harmed. Should be a very smooth transition.

And now, back to the second half of The Game. And then a long vacation...

Thanks, hit your site, saw the info, then came here to see if I was just seeing things.

Time to order and download the game.

I should reply to my own thread, which was first

So we have to DL the 29+ MB file then? It's been a while since I patched a FOF game, I figured it'd just be an update or something (aka smaller size).

Back to the game (loss)...

Now that we got that out of the way, is it time to work on enhancements (at least after vacation)? I would hate to see this version go the same route as FOF4 where only bug fixes were made. I assume sales of FOF2004 are up so you can afford the time and effort to add some stuff (like html outputs, more trade enhancements, MP enhancements as we get more into it, etc.).

Good job.

I gotta think this is likely. I'm guessing Jim set aside X amount of time for patching before starting on next year's release and since FOF 2004 was practically bug free there will be some "enhancements" on the way in a month or two (after a well deserved break for Jim, of course).

ViaTech is getting hammered, and they just called to ask me to change the link.

It would be nice if I could enjoy vacation for awhile. Please understand that aside from the html export, it's unlikely that I will make any major changes.
Vacation's off to a bad start. Ohio State has discovered that Michigan has one of the worst defensive play-callers in college football, and has no clue what to do when opponents are in pass mode. Sticking six defensive backs on the field and hoping wide receivers will run into them randomly does not make for a good dime package. Sigh. That holding call took all the air out of Michigan.

I am assuming the new patch overwrites the helmet logos if you put in a set from around here?

Nice list of fixes. It would appear as if Jim has addressed many if not all of the concerns that have been discussed. It would also appear as if there are no show stoppers unless something has been overlooked.

Yeah, SkyDog's mirror site takes about as long to download as it does for Buccaneer to cream his britches.

Well, if Buccaroo is as old as the legends say, that might not be as impressive a claim as you think.

Tucker 45, Ringgold 20 tonight.

Thomas' understudy, Brandyn Young, had a fantastic night in his first playoff game as the starting tailback. He had seven runs of 13 yards or more on the night, and one rushing TD.

I have no clue what my transfer limit is on the Young Life web site, but I've never had to pay extra and never even gotten a warning, so as long as Jim doesn't mind me hosting a mirror, I can keep doing it.

Thanks Jim. Good to see that you're a Michigan fan. I always knew you had great taste! If there was one "enhancement" that I think the game could use it would be the ability to promote a coordinator to HC rather than have to hire a whole new coach. Again, thanks, and WOO HOO! MICHIGAN'S GOING TO PASADENA!!!! Take that, suck-eyes!!!

12. Allow saving and exit of initial complete draft, which will give multi-player leagues full access to player information during the draft.

This is a huge enhancement for the multi-player module.
