FOF2k4: Fictional St. Louis Rams

With the first patch out it is time for me to dive into a serious career. I prefer to play with fictional players so I have used HR's fictional player file generator to create my initial player file. I ran a complete draft and just let the AI do the drafting to get my initial team. I probably won't go very in depth the first year since I won't relaly have my players yet and we aren't likely to be very good. And here we go.

2003 Roster

Code:
Front Office Football 2004 St. Louis Rams Roster, Scout Overview King, Alonso 8 QB QB 4 26 76 4 yrs Banes, Cornelius 19 QB 1 12 36 1 yr. Connell, O.J. 13 QB 1 4 14 2 yrs Alonso King looks like he has the potential to be a very good QB in the future. He is still pretty raw, but should be our QB of the future. He is a very athletic QB who can make all the throws and is very accurate. He isn't currently listed on the green page, but I think he has a chance to be a top QB in the league. He'll get the start this year as Banes and Connell are awful. If we have to play them at all this year we are in big trouble. Carter, Phillip 21 RB RB 14 38 38 1 yr. Lear, Todd 37 RB 1 19 29 2 yrs Book, Eric 29 RB 1 16 21 1 yr. Woods, Willie 44 RB 1 10 13 1 yr. Jacobs, Garry 20 FB FB 2 36 52 1 yr. Roper, Joseph 35 FB 4 30 44 1 yr. We are very short on talent at the RB position. Carter has good break away speed, but doesn't bring much more to the table. He will get the bulk of the carries this year simply from a lack of other options. Lear seems to have some skills as a shifty runner, but has no speed and has a problem with fumbling the ball. Still he could possibly steal some carries away from Carter. Let's just hope Book and Woods never have to play. Jacobs and Roper are both solid at the FB position and will split time this year. Rochelle, Austin 86 TE TE 3 33 55 1 yr. Breunig, Kristofer 87 TE 10 22 22 2 yrs Malley, Julian 84 TE 4 35 47 2 yrs Lamoureux, Norbert 82 FL 3 19 26 1 yr. Hermes, Joseph 81 FL 1 26 49 1 yr. Laporte, Cesar 83 FL FL 3 38 62 3 yrs Blank, Roderick 80 FL 1 21 37 3 yrs Drake, Wesley 89 SE SE 4 21 25 2 yrs Rochelle and Malley are both decent looking TE's. They both have some blocking skill and are solid catching the ball. Ceaser Laporte is our best weapon on offense. He is more of a possesion guy than a burner, but he has the ability to make big plays and will be King's #1 target. We are going to move Hermes over to SE to start opposite of Laporte. And he will rotate with Drake. We'll sprinkle Blank into the passing game a bit as well. Oliver, Freddie 54 C C 10 52 55 1 yr. Van Pelt, Jared 50 C 1 11 26 1 yr. Carrera, Guy 77 LG 4 18 28 1 yr. Epps, Chance 71 RG RG 9 41 43 1 yr. Lowe, David 75 RG LG 6 69 77 5 yrs Stanton, George 61 RG 1 17 34 2 yrs Han, Theo 63 LT LT 12 57 57 1 yr. Park, Morgan 69 RT RT 3 27 54 1 yr. Price, James 66 RT 10 30 30 2 yrs Tutt, Thomas 68 RT 4 24 33 3 yrs Overall I would say the offensive line is pretty average. We have some solid pass blockers, but our run blocking ability is pretty pathetic. Not that it matters much since we don't really have a RB to run behind them anyway. David Lowe is the star of the line and any running we will be doing will be primarily behind him. Elias, Brian 6 P 8 52 54 2 yrs Robinson, Antonio 16 K 1 16 38 2 yrs Elias will be fine punting. And I am sure he will have to punt a lot, but Robinson looks awful. We must find a new kicker in the off season. Curley, Denny 98 LDE LDE 1 18 44 1 yr. Bettencourt, Joel 95 LDE 1 15 35 1 yr. Monroe, Nathan 96 LDE 1 19 41 1 yr. McGregor, Oscar 93 RDE RDE 1 9 30 1 yr. Haley, Alvin 72 LDT LDT 5 29 35 2 yrs Donnell, Rashad 79 LDT 8 27 27 2 yrs Cash, Henry 76 LDT 1 17 35 1 yr. Dunne, Tony 70 RDT RDT 4 17 22 2 yrs We are very weak across the board on the defensive line. Our DE's are equally poor at playing the run and rushing the passer. They will be fairly useless this season. Our DT's aren't much better. We have more talent at LB than DL so we will most likely play a 3-4 this year. Lindell, Eldridge 57 WILB MLB 8 72 72 5 yrs Hermann, Larry 53 WILB 7 59 59 1 yr. Ott, Curtis 59 WILB 4 40 54 2 yrs Rozier, Travis 91 WLB 1 20 56 3 yrs Schwab, Edward 94 WLB SLB 5 70 77 3 yrs Erdmann, Timothy 52 WLB WLB 13 59 59 1 yr. Faumui, Jimmy 97 WLB 1 11 27 1 yr. Lindell is our top defensive player. He is very strong against the run and is very good diagnosing plays. He is also a pretty effective pass rusher from the middle. We will need our LB's to generate some pressure to try and make up for our poor d lineman. Hermann is alos a strong run defender and will also start in our 3-4 set up. Our outsdie backers Erdmann and Schwab are also excellent run defenders. We may not be able to stop runners at the line but once the hit our LB's they will have to pay. Krauss, Wilbur 27 LCB LCB 10 60 60 2 yrs Dade, Alonzo 22 LCB 2 8 23 2 yrs Little, David 23 LCB 7 27 27 2 yrs Hardison, David 26 RCB RCB 2 26 53 2 yrs Yellope, Amos 33 RCB 1 10 20 1 yr. Diego, Otto 45 SS 2 21 43 3 yrs Warren, Clyde 46 SS 1 9 30 2 yrs Hall, Josiah 41 FS FS 1 15 52 2 yrs Ecklund, Donnell 25 FS SS 9 61 61 2 yrs Our defensive backfield is a mixed bag. Krauss and Ekcland are both very solid and Hardison has some potential, but the rest of the group is pretty poor overall. Still I have started careers with worse. $$ - player is in starting lineup, ## - player is inactive. Players Under Contract: 53 On Active Roster: 53 Salary Cap: $75,000,000 Cap Room: $6,470,000 Maximum for New Player: $6,700,000 Cap Room Lost (to old contracts): $0 Cap Room Lost Next Year (to old contracts): $0 Cap Room Required Next Year: $50,270,000

Exhibition Games

St. Louis vs Oakland (-8)

We didn't look very good in our first pre season game although we kept the game close. Carter only had 40 yards rushing and a 2.6 YPC. King looked ok going 13 for 22 for 146 yards and 0/1 before giving way to Banes who threw two more Ints. On a good note though Robinson was 4/4 on FG attempts. FB Jacobs did run in a TD.

Oakland 20, St. Louis 19

Tampa Bay (-5) vs St. Louis

We get into the win column for the first time in this one. Lear looked pretty good running the ball getting 10 carries and 48 yards. And Banes hooked up with Laporte for a 36 yard TD strike. King didn't fare so well throwing 2 more Ints.

St. Louis 13, Tampa Bay 10

St. Louis at Buffalo (-4)

This was a pretty good game for us. Our 3 RB's Carter, Lear, and Book combined for 21 carries and 89 yards. All 3 had over 4 YPC. Laporte caught another TD pass. We also had 0 turnovers on the day. And we get another win.

St. Louis 17, Buffalo 16

Kansas City (-2) vs St. Louis

We finish the exhibition season 2-2 as we drop the interstate battle with KC. However not all was bad. We ran the ball fairly effectively again and King was 7 for 15 for 154 yards including a 70 yard TD strike to Hermes. We also were turnover free again this game.

Kansas City 20, St. Louis 16

The best news is we came out of the pre-season with only one significant injury. FB Jospeh Roper will miss the rest of the season with a leg injury. Other than that we only have a few scrapes and bruises heading into regular season play.

2003 Regular Season

St. Louis (0-0) at New York (0-0)(-3)

After a lot of back and forth play in the 1st quarter New York was first to get on the board with two minutes left in the quarter. However the 2nd quarter was all Rams as we had a FG, a 4 yard TD run by King and a 19 yard TD run by Carter. After a scoreless 3rd quarter New York got into the end zone twice and kicked a FG and we had two FG's of our own to finish the 4th Q tied at 23.

In OT New York won the toss and drove down the field and finsihed with a 9 yard TD run to win the game and send us to 0-1 on the season. Carter ran the ball well with 15 carries for 65 yards and a TD and Laporte had 6 catches for 122 yards. On defense Hermann had 11 total tackles and Schwab and Haley had 2 sacks a piece. Our run defense was strong, but the pass dfeense allowed 346 passing yards and 3 TD passes from New York QB Jensen.

New York 29, St. Louis 23

Week 2

San Francisco (1-0)(-2) at St. Louis (0-1)

San Francisco has a very strong defense and should cause a lot of problems for our offense today. They also look like they can run the ball effectively.

This was a pretty ugly game overall with both teams combining for 7 turnovers. The 49ers got on the board first early in the 1st Quarter, but we were able to respond with two TD passes from King to Hermes and King ran in another one to put this one away. SF added a TD and a couple of FG's late in the, but we already had this one in hand.

St. Louis 27, San Francisco 23

Offensive Leaders
Rushing: RB Carter 19 carries, 48 yards
Passing: QB King 17 of 33, 212 yards, 2/2
Receiving: WR Hermes 3 catches, 71 yards, 2 TDs

Defensive Leaders
WILB Hermann 14 tckls, 1 asst, 1 Int
SILB Lindell 8 tckls, 5 assts

Injuries

Eldridge Lindell, WILB - Knee Bursitis, Probable, full strength in about 2 weeks.

Joseph Roper, FB - Plantar Fasciitis, Out, full strength in 2004.

Week 3

St. Louis (1-1) at Seattle (1-1)(-2)

We'll be playing through thunderstorms in Seattle today. The weather suits the Seahawks well as they look like a ball control team. They have a strong defense and very good running back in Darrick Trump. We'll have to shut him down to have much of a chance.

This game was all Seattle from the start. Trump actually left the game early with an injury, but we were still unable to mount any real attack against their offense. 3 interceptions by King killed several decent drives and prevented us from ever being in the game. The combination of King's poor play and the lack of being able to run the ball we have a lot of work to do on offense if we are going to compete the rest of the year.

Seattle 27, St. Louis 0

Offensive Leaders
Rushing: RB Carter 16 carries, 29 yards
Passing: QB King 10 of 26, 65 yards, 0/3
Receiving: WR Laporte 2 catches, 22 yards

Defesive Leaders
WILB Hermann 18 tckls, 5 assts
DT Haley 5 tckls, 1 sack

Injuries
Eldridge Lindell, WILB - Knee Bursitis, Probable, full strength in about 1 week.

Eric Book, RB - Sprained Knee, Doubtful, full strength in about 3 weeks.

David Little, LCB - Strained Adductor Muscle, Out, full strength in about 4 weeks.

Josiah Hall, FS - Broken Hand, Probable, full strength in about 5 weeks.

Joseph Roper, FB - Plantar Fasciitis, Out, full strength in 2004.

Week 4

Arizona (2-1)(-4) vs St. Louis (1-2)

Arizona is very similar to our last opponents. They have a strong running back and a pretty solid D. However the scouts seem to feel our defense is a better match up for their offense than their defense is matched up against our offense. I am hoping that edge and the fact we are at home will be enough to pull out a win here.

It wasn't pretty, but we managed to pull this one out behind a huge game from Carter. His 148 yards rushing got us into position for 3 FG's which was enough to top Arizona even though we lost King to a shoulder injury early in the game. King will miss 4 weeks with his injury. That could be a very long 4 weeks for us.

St. Louis 9, Arizona 6

Offensive Leaders
Rushing: RB Carter 29 carries, 148 yards
Passing: QB Banes 12 of 24, 108 yards, 0/2
Receiving: TE Rochelle 4 catches, 39 yards

Defensive Leaders
SLB Erdmann 5 tckls, 3 assts, 1 sack

Bye Week

I like to spend the bye week taking a look at the players who have contracts expiring after the season and see if I want to extend offers to any of them.

Below is a list of players who will be free agents after the season.

Code:
**Han, Theo 63 LT LT 2002 2003 12 $4,780,000 $2,390,000 Park, Morgan 69 RT RT 2002 2003 3 $3,950,000 $2,160,000 Erdmann, Timothy 52 WLB SLB 2002 2003 13 $3,290,000 $1,790,000 Epps, Chance 71 RG RG 2002 2003 9 $1,680,000 $1,080,000 Hermes, Joseph 81 FL SE 2002 2003 1 $1,430,000 $1,020,000 ##Bettencourt, Joel 95 LDE 2002 2003 1 $1,200,000 $960,000 Monroe, Nathan 96 LDE 2002 2003 1 $1,200,000 $960,000 Hermann, Larry 53 WILB WILB 2002 2003 7 $950,000 $830,000 ##Cash, Henry 76 LDT 2002 2003 1 $950,000 $830,000 Carter, Phillip 21 RB RB 2002 2003 14 $880,000 $760,000 Oliver, Freddie 54 C C 2002 2003 10 $720,000 $660,000 **Roper, Joseph 35 FB 2002 2003 4 $450,000 $450,000 ##Carrera, Guy 77 LG 2002 2003 4 $450,000 $450,000 Rochelle, Austin 86 TE TE 2002 2003 3 $440,000 $380,000 ##Lamoureux, Norbert 82 FL 2002 2003 3 $380,000 $380,000 Jacobs, Garry 20 FB FB 2002 2003 2 $300,000 $300,000 Banes, Cornelius 19 QB 2002 2003 1 $230,000 $230,000 Book, Eric 29 RB 2002 2003 1 $230,000 $230,000 Yellope, Amos 33 RCB 2002 2003 1 $230,000 $230,000 Woods, Willie 44 RB 2002 2003 1 $230,000 $230,000 Van Pelt, Jared 50 C 2002 2003 1 $230,000 $230,000 McGregor, Oscar 93 RDE RDE 2002 2003 1 $230,000 $230,000 ##Faumui, Jimmy 97 WLB 2002 2003 1 $230,000 $230,000 Curley, Denny 98 LDE LDE 2002 2003 1 $230,000 $230,000

We have 12 starters on that list, but I am not sure many of them really deserve offers to come back.

Theo Han would be someone I might consider, but he is looking for about 5 million a year and so far he is only making 15% of his run blocks. I think we will wait and see on him after the season.

Timothy Erdmann is looking for a very reasonable deal and has played pretty well so far we will bring him back into the fold for a 2 yr 3 million dollar deal.

FL Joseph Hermes doesn't have a ton of potential, but he is also looking for a pretty reasonable deal and has been productive early in the season. We will lock him up for another 2 years with a 2 yr 1.4 million dollar offer.

WILB Larry Hermann is pretty much only a run stopper. But he is pretty good at what he does. He has 56 total tackles in only 4 games so far this year. And since he is only looking for 1.6 million over 2 years that is a done deal.

C Freddie Oliver has some skill, but he is pretty poor as a run blocker and I love to run the ball up the gut. Since he is looking for real money I think we will take a pass on him.

TE Austin Rochelle is looking for 2.3 million over 3 years which is a little steep for his skill set, but he has proven to be a solid target for King so I think we will go ahead and extend an offer to him.

That takes care of all the renegotiations we will be doing this year. Both FB's are free agents, and I wouldn't mind bringing either one of them back, but they are asking for a little more than I want to spend on them and I think I can replace them if we can't get them to be more reasonable in the off season.

Week 6

Atlanta (3-2)(-5) vs St. Louis (2-2)

We are never favored despite being at home. Atlanta is led by their young QB stud to be Bill Boutte. Boutte may not be ready for stardom quite yet, but he will be a major force in the league in the next few years. We are hoping to stunt his development a bit today. We signed QB Roderick Crowley this week to a 1 year deal to replace King. Crowley is pretty much a bum, but is still better than Banes so he will get the start today.

I think Carter is bucking for a new contract. He had another very good day running the ball today, but it wasn't enough for us to get the win. Our new Qb Crowley did get us on the board first with a TD pass to Rochelle, but Atlanta then got three straight FG's and we dropped a tough one at home.

Atlanta 9, St. Louis 7

Offensive Leaders
Rushing: RB Carter 21 carries, 131 yards
Passing: QB Crowley 13 of 26, 133 yards, 1/1
Receiving: WR Hermes 5 catches, 46 yards

Defensive Leaders
SILB Lindell 8 tckls, 2 assts

Injuries

Eric Book, RB, is now 100%.

Alonso King, QB - Separated Shoulder, Questionable, full strength in about 2 weeks.

Josiah Hall, FS - Broken Hand, Probable, full strength in about 2 weeks.

David Little, LCB - Strained Adductor Muscle, Questionable, full strength in about 2 weeks.

Green Bay (5-1)(-4) vs St. Louis (2-3)

We match up very well on paper with Green Bay except at the Qb position. Green Bay has the best QB in the league right now in Robert Bussey. I think we have an edge everywhere else, but it seems in football the team with the better QB wins more time than not so I am not going to hold my breath. King will be inactive again this week even though he has been upgraded to questionable. Crowley will start for us again.

Bussey may be the best QB in the league but he didn't look like it today. Green Bay moved the ball well and Bussey threw for 237 yards, but he threw 4 picks and Crowley turned two of those into TD passes to Roderick Blank. Donnell Ecklund returned another Int for a TD and that put the game away. Despite struggling on offense overall we come away with a nice win here.

St. Louis 20, Green Bay 15

Offensive Leaders
Rushing: RB Carter 20 carries, 61 yards
Passing: QB Crowley 8 of 18, 99 yards, 2/1
Receivng: WR Blank 2 cathes, 36 yards, 2 TDs

Defensive Leaders

Week 8

St. Louis (3-3)(-4) at Pittsburgh (2-4)

We are favored for the first time this year in this game. Pittsburgh is lead by their RB Steven Hall. He is averaging close to 100 yards a game so far this season. However he only has 1 TD on the year. Despite Crowley filling in nicely when King went down we will go back to King at the helm in todays game.

This was without question our best offensive game so far. Both the running and passing game was clicking and we gained 427 yards of total offense. Pittsburgh did a nice job moving the ball as well, but they couldn't overcome King's big day in his first game back from the IR.

St. Louis 24, Pittsburgh 16

Offensive Leaders
Rushing: RB Carter 16 carries, 104 yards, 1 TD
Passing: QB King 18 of 32, 280 yards, 2/1
Receiving: WR Laporte 6 catches, 135 yards, 1 TD

Defensive Leaders
WILB Hermann 13 tckls, 3 assts
SLD Erdmann 9 tckls, 1 asst

Injuries

Alonso King, QB, is now 100%.

David Little, LCB, is now 100%.

Theo Han, LT - Broken Arm, Questionable, full strength in about 2 weeks.

Otto Diego, SS - Sprained Thumb, Probable, full strength in about 3 weeks.

Week 9

St. Louis (4-3)(-1) at San Francisco (4-4)

With our win last week we moved into a tie for first place in our division. It's hard to tell how good we are at this point, but we are atleast hanging in there. We are hoping to get the season sweep over San Fran today.

It was nice to see that despite our offense falling a little flat today the defense came up with several huge plays that led to us getting the win. We returned 3 Ints for TD's today and King rushed another one in to give us the win and the season sweep.

St. Louis 31, San Francisco 23

Offensive Leaders
Rushing: RB Carter 19 carries, 52 yards
Passing: QB King 12 of 25, 135 yards, 0/1
Receiving: TE Rochelle 4 catches, 47 yards

Defensive Leaders
LB Ott 11 tckls, 1 asst, 1 sack, 1 Int, 1 TD
WILB Hermann 10 tckls, 2 assts
CB Hardison 3 tckls, 1 asst, 1 Int, 1 TD
CB Krauss 2 tckls, 2 Ints, 1 TD

Injuries

Alonso King, QB - Broken Finger, Probable, full strength in about 1 week.

Theo Han, LT - Broken Arm, Probable, full strength in about 1 week.

Garry Jacobs, FB - Strained Patellar Tendon, Questionable, full strength in about 1 week.

Otto Diego, SS - Sprained Thumb, Probable, full strength in about 2 weeks.

Taking a look at our offensive and defensive rankings it sure seems our winning record may have been done a bit with smoke and mirrors. We aren't very effective on offense and the defense has been hit and miss. But we are tied for the division lead half way through the season so we are getting things done.

King clearly isn;t ready for prime time yet, but I am hoping the playing time will accelerate his development. Carter has been solid running the ball although I would prefer he got into the end zone a bit more in the second half. And Laporte is clearly King's favorite target, but he is having problems getting him the ball.

The most eye popping stat has to be Hermann's 81 solo tackles after only 8 games! That is amazing. Our LB's are producing well and DT Haley is playing surprisingly well despite his limted ratings.

Week 10

Baltimore (3-5) at St. Louis (5-3)(-4)

Mirroring real life a bit the Ravens have a pretty stacked defese in this game. However also mirroring real life they have a pretty pathetic offense. On paper I think we should beat this team, but we seem to be a bit inconsistent from week to week so it is pretty difficult to tell exactly how we will do.

This one turned out for the most part exactly as I had hoped. We held Baltimore to only 39 yards rushing on the day and only 9 points. Alonso King had another very solid game connecting on two TD passes to Blank and Hermes. All in all a good day for our squad.

St. Louis 24, Baltimore 9

Offensive Leaders
Rushing: RB Carter 22 carries, 63 yards, 1 TD
Passing: QB King 23 of 35, 272 yards, 2/1
Receiving: WR Laporte 7 catches, 83 yards

Defensive Leaders
SILB Lindell 7 tckls, 1 asst, 1 sack

Injuries

Alonso King, QB, is now 100%.

Theo Han, LT, is now 100%.

Otto Diego, SS - Sprained Thumb, Probable, full strength in about 1 week.

Garry Jacobs, FB - Strained Patellar Tendon, Questionable, full strength in about 1 week.

Josiah Hall, FS - Broken Hand, Probable, full strength in about 2 weeks.

Larry Hermann, WILB - Knee Bursitis, Probable, full strength in about 2 weeks.

David Lowe, RG - Elbow Contusion, Probable, full strength in about 2 weeks.

Cesar Laporte, FL - Sprained Knee, Questionable, full strength in about 2 weeks.

Joseph Roper, FB - Plantar Fasciitis, Out, full strength in 2004.

Timothy Erdmann, WLB - Torn Quadriceps Muscle, Out, full strength in late 2004.

Just as a side note it is a bit unfortunate that we gave Erdmann a new contract and he is now out until late next year. I am assuming he is going to take a decent hit to his ratings with such a severe injury. He was a solid looking player too.

Week 11

St. Louis (6-3)(-5) at Chicago (2-7)

On paper the Bears look like they should be very competitve with us. They seem to be better at both Qb and RB than us and their defense looks solid. However their 2-7 record seems to indicate that we should walk away with this one. The weather is pretty mild for this time of year in Chicago.

If you had watched this game and didn't know the score you would have thought we probably won the game. We were able to move the ball very well and outgained the Bears by over 100 yards, but 4 interceptions by King including two that were returned for TD's ended up being our down fall.

Chicago 27, St. Louis 20

Offensive Leaders
Rushing: RB Carter 21 carries, 93 yards
Passing: King 18 of 34, 199 yards, 2/4
Receiving: WR Laporte 5 catches, 77 yards, 1 TD

Defensive Leaders
WILB Hermann 8 tckls, 6 assts
SILB Lindell 5 tckls, 4 assts

Injuries

Otto Diego, SS, is now 100%.

Garry Jacobs, FB, is now 100%.

Josiah Hall, FS - Broken Hand, Probable, full strength in about 1 week.

Larry Hermann, WILB - Knee Bursitis, Probable, full strength in about 1 week.

David Lowe, RG - Elbow Contusion, Probable, full strength in about 1 week.

Cesar Laporte, FL - Sprained Knee, Questionable, full strength in about 3 weeks.

Joseph Roper, FB - Plantar Fasciitis, Out, full strength in 2004.

Timothy Erdmann, WLB - Torn Quadriceps Muscle, Out, full strength in late 2004.

Week 12

St. Louis (6-4) at Arizona (4-6)(-1)

We won a squeaker over the Cards early this season. However going to their turf I can see this being a tough game for us. We have managed to keep pace with Seattle and are still tied at the top of the division, but San Francisco is only one game behind us. The division crown is still up for grabs for anyone.

While it wasn't a blow out this one was the Cardinals all the way. They got up on us 17-0 by early in the 3rd quarter. We did add a TD pass from Alonso King to Julian Malley in junk time, but we were never in this one. The good news is Seattle lost their game as well so we are still in first in our division.

Arizona 17, St. Louis 7

Offensive Leaders
Rushing: RB Carter 17 carries, 52 yards
Passing: QB King 16 of 34, 195 yards, 1/0
Receiving: WR Laporte 6 catches, 59 yards

Defensive Leaders
WILB Hermann 12 tckls, 1 asst
SILB Lindell 7 tckls, 2 assts

Injuries

Josiah Hall, FS, is now 100%.

Larry Hermann, WILB, is now 100%.

David Lowe, RG, is now 100%.

Cesar Laporte, FL - Sprained Knee, Questionable, full strength in about 3 weeks.

Week 13

Minnesota (4-7)(-2) at St. Louis (6-5)

No respect I tell ya. The Vikings have a losing record and are on our turf and they are made a 4 point favorite. On paper we absolutely have the better team so I don't suspect we will lose this one. Their best two players are their FB and C. They don't have much talent at the skill positions.

This was an ugly game and turned into a battle of field goals. We traded field goals in the 2nd quarter and then traded field goals again in the 3rd quarter. That is how regulation ended and we headed into OT tied at 6. Late in OT Ott intercepted a pass near mid field and King drove us into FG range. Robinson then nailed the FG and we escape the ugly game with a win.

St. Louis 9, Minnesota 6

Offensive Leaders
Rushing: RB Carter 18 carries, 46 yards
Passing: QB King 22 of 49, 201 yards, 0/0
Receiving: TE Rochelle 11 catches, 108 yards

Defensive Leaders
WILB Hermann 9 tckls, 4 assts
DT Haley 5 tckls, 1 asst, 2 sacks
WLB Schwab 3 tckls, 2 assts, 2 sacks

Injuries

Cesar Laporte, FL - Sprained Knee, Questionable, full strength in about 3 weeks.

Joseph Roper, FB - Plantar Fasciitis, Out, full strength in 2004.

Timothy Erdmann, WLB - Torn Quadriceps Muscle, Out, full strength in late 2004.

Week 14

St. Louis (7-5) at Cleveland (9-3)(-8)

We have a very tough final four games to close out the season. Cleveland, Cincinnati, and Detroit are a combined 27-9. And out 4th game is against the Seahawks who we have been battling all season. We are currently all alone in 1st place, but with this next stretch of games we could easily finish at the bottom of our division. The Hawks, 9ers, and Cards are all tied at 6-6 one game behind us.

We tried to match TD's with Cleveland, but in the end we were just over matched. We jumped out to a quick 14-0 lead in the 1st quarter after Edward Schwab returned an Int 84 yards for a TD and then King hit Hermes for a 19 yard TD pass, but Cleveland rattled off 31 unanswered points and that was all she wrote. We did add two more TD's in garbage time, but the Browns had tacked on another 10 in between and we were never really in it.

Offensive Leaders
Rushing: RB Carter 9 carries, 85 yards
Passing: QB King 13 of 24, 243 yards, 3/3
Receiving: WR Laporte 3 catches, 93 yards, 1 TD

Defensive Leaders
WLB Schwab 9 tckls, 3 assts, 1 Int, 1 TD

Injuries

Cesar Laporte, FL - Sprained Knee, Questionable, full strength in about 2 weeks.

Joseph Roper, FB - Plantar Fasciitis, Out, full strength in 2004.

Timothy Erdmann, WLB - Torn Quadriceps Muscle, Out, full strength in late 2004.

Week 15

Seattle (7-6)(-4) vs St. Louis (7-6)

This is a huge game for us. If we don't win this one we stand very little chance of winning our division. And we have no shot at a wild card berth. So the playoffs are riding on this game.

And we lose another ugly one and are for all intents and purposes out of the playoff hunt. We would have to win out and Seattle would have to lose out in order for us to make it and given our next two opponents we really can't expect to win out. Its probably for the best anyway. We aren't ready to face playoff caliber teams yet. The fact that we play in the worst division in the league is the only thing that has kept us in the race this long.

Seattle 10, St. Louis 7

Offensive Leaders
Rushing: RB Carter 16 carries, 59 yards, 1 TD
Passing: QB King 14 of 32, 97 yards, 0/0
Receiving: TE Rochelle 5 catches, 22 yards

Defensive Leaders
WILB Hermann 13 tckls
DT Haley 4 tckls, 3 assts, 2 sacks

Injuries

Cesar Laporte, FL - Sprained Knee, Questionable, full strength in about 2 weeks.

David Little, LCB - Strained Patellar Tendon, Out, full strength in about 3 weeks.

Morgan Park, RT - Broken Ankle, Out, full strength in 2004.

Joseph Roper, FB - Plantar Fasciitis, Out, full strength in 2004.

Timothy Erdmann, WLB - Torn Quadriceps Muscle, Out, full strength in late 2004.

Week 16

Cincinnati (12-2)(-7) vs St. Louis (7-7)

Well Shorty would be happy in this career. The Bengals are the class of the league in this world. We are out matched in every single aspect against them. We can only hope they are looking past us and into the playoffs. Maybe we can sneak one by em.

And that is exactly what we did. A few costly turnovers by the Bengals kept us in the game and King connected with Rochelle for a late TD that sent us into OT. In OT our punter Brian elias was forced to handle the kicking after Robinson went down with an injury and he came through nailing the 25 yard FG for the win!

St. Loiuis 13, Cincinnati 10

Offensive Leaders
Rushing: RB Carter 22 carries, 44 yards
Passing: King 17 of 38, 191 yards, 1/0
Receiving: WR Laporte 4 catches, 102 yards

Defensive Leaders
WILB Hermann 13 tckls, 5 assts
SILB Lindell 6 tckls, 5 assts, 1 Int

David Little, LCB - Strained Patellar Tendon, Questionable, full strength in about 2 weeks.

David Hardison, RCB - Bruised Ribcage, Questionable, full strength in about 3 weeks.

Week 17

St. Louis (8-7) at Detroit (9-6)(-3)

Now I expected to come into this game with nothing to play for however an interesting situation has developed. This is how the playoff picture currently stands in the NFC.

1. Washington 11-4
2. Atlanta (10-5)
3. Seattle (9-6)
4. Detroit (9-6)
5. Philadelphia (10-5)
6. Tampa Bay (9-6)
---
7. St. Louis (8-7)
8. Green Bay (8-7)

I can't figure out why, but it seems we have the tie breaker over Tampa Bay if they lose and we win since it doesn't say we are eliminated yet. And we have already beaten Green Bay and if we win we will have the tie braker over Detroit too. So it seems if we win and Tampa loses we are in.

Detroit started off the game with a FG and and then a TD pass early in the 1st quarter and seemed to have closed the door on any playoff hopes we might have had. However Alsonso King hit Laporte for an 11 yard TD pass late in the first and then Lindell returned an Int 86 yards for another score to give us a 14-10 lead after just 1 quarter.

King added another TD pass to Rochelle in the middle of the second, but Detroit cam right back with a TD pass of their own and we had the lead 21-17 going into the 3rd. Brian Elias who was called on to handle the place kicking duties put through a 32 yard FG in 3rd and we held Detroit scoreless to take the win!

And it seems fate was with us today because Tampa Bay lost their game and we are in the playoffs!

Offensive Leaders
Rushing: RB Carter 17 carries, 37 yards
Passing: QB King 18 of 33, 198 yards, 2/2
Receiving: WR Laporte 5 catches, 81 yards, 1 TD

Defensive Leaders
WILB Hermann 7 tckls, 4 assts, 1 Int
SLB Ott 6 tckls, 1 asst, 1 sack, 1 Int

Injuries

Cesar Laporte, FL, is now 100%.

Otto Diego, SS - Sprained Knee, Probable, full strength in about 1 week.

David Little, LCB - Strained Patellar Tendon, Probable, full strength in about 1 week.

David Hardison, RCB - Bruised Ribcage, Probable, full strength in about 2 weeks.

Josiah Hall, FS - Bruised Sternum, Probable, full strength in about 3 weeks.

Chance Epps, RG - Separated Shoulder, Out, full strength in 2004.

Morgan Park, RT - Broken Ankle, Out, full strength in 2004.

Joseph Roper, FB - Plantar Fasciitis, Out, full strength in 2004.

Antonio Robinson, K - High Ankle Sprain, Out, full strength in 2004.

Timothy Erdmann, WLB - Torn Quadriceps Muscle, Out, full strength in late 2004.

It doesn't matter much. While attempting to re-install linux on a different partition I managed to corrupt my entire hard drive and had to wipe the disk clean and re-install everything. So Alonso King and his teammates have vanished out of existence.
