Purdue Beat The Crap out of Duke

Duke looked pretty average tonight against my beloved Boilers. We were hot at the begining of the second half, and the Blue Devils never recovered. Purdue is the 2003 Great Alaskan Shootout champs baby! Put us in the top 25 already.

Is he still considered an elite player?

He was a stud his freshman year when he played with JWill and he was again solid as a sophomore but as a junior he was hardly anything special.

The media considers him elite because he is a senior on Duke. In reality, he has regressed to merely a role player. Duke has no inside game at all. Deng is a decent looking freshman, but he looks like a freshman. The sad thing is, he is Duke's best player. Sweet 16 at best for Puke this year.

Uh oh. Only 2 of the top 6 teams in the polls did not lose this week. Do I hear MU and KU duking it out at No. 1 and No. 2?

MU got a damn good fight from Oakland yesterday. They will be the type of team that could surprise somebody come tourney time.

Purdue's best defense last night was to just stay off of Deng a little bit and let him shoot the ball. He could not hit an outside shot, and Purdue played that to their advantage. You usually don't see freshman that aggressive this early in the season, but that is what propelled Purdue to the win.

Deng was 6-20 from the field, 1-5 from three point land, for a mere 15 points.

I actually think that making this statement and restricting it to this year is not enough. I think he may be the most overrated college player of all time.

UK -- Kentucky -- easily top 4 team and actually UNDERRATED this year, as opposed to OVERRATED teams like Duke and UNC.
