Fantasy Football: help me with 2 starting decisions
This game is insanely important for me. There is a 4 way tie for the last two playoff spots in my league, and those 4 teams (including myself) are playing each other this week. With 1 week left after this one, a loss will all but eliminate me from the playoffs (and money) contention.
QB Marc Bulger vs. Minnesota? or Trent Green vs. San Diego? I'd been sticking with Bulger, but he's hit a cold streak lately. That combined with Minnesotas terrible run defense, and the high number of turnovers they produce on defense has me concerned. I can see the Rams grinding out a victory on the ground, and I can envision another 4 INT performance from Bulger. Is it just me, or does Green seem like the smarter start here? On the other hand, Bulger is more likely to have a huge game (3-4 TD's), so Green may have a lower top-end expectation. WR/RB RB Eddie George vs. Jets or WR Derrick Mason vs. Jets For my last flex spot I'm torn between these two. I normally wouldn't consider George, but he seems to have gotten back on track lately and the Jets run defense is HORRIBLE. Still, I guess he's a risk. Just 1 touchdown and 50 yards would be worth it for me though.... Mason on the other hand has lots of big games, and lots of small games. If McNair doesn't play, I have a gut feeling his numbers will drop. Backup QB's tend to instantly click with the 2nd or 3rd receiver (someone they work with in practice more often). Thoughts?

For your first choice, I'd go with Bulger. Trent Green is a risky play anywhere you go. He's really a hit or miss canidate. On any given Sunday, they can give Holmes the ball 30+ times , and that will really limit things.
I'd go with George with your second option, for all of the reasons that you've given above. The Jets run D is horrible. |

I'd go with Green. Bulger has played like crap the past few weeks and is going up against one of the best defenses at forcing turnovers. Trent Green has been one of the hottest, if not the hottest, QB in the league over the past several games. SD has allowed QB's a 98.9 QB rating (worst in the league) while giving up 26 TD's (also worst in the league) and picking off only 9 passes. The Minnesota pass D gives up a lot of yards, but QB's only have a rating of 69.8 against them.
For the WR/RB situation, I would probably go George and end up hating myself for it. The Jets do have the worst run defense in football, but being forced to play George would make me uncomfortable. With McNair banged up and questionable for the game Monday (isn't he always, though?) it makes me a little more comfortable, but not much.

Green and George would get my vote too.
Green, simply because it sounds like a bad start could get Bulger yanked from the game. George against a bad run defense and McNair hurting means run run run.

I'd go with Green and George, assuming your league penalizes turnovers.

The Green/Bulger question is a no-brainer in favor of Bulger. As bad as SD has been vs the pass, they have been just as bad vs the run. KC will get up big and Holmes will have a huge day. I am guessing 15 pass attempts or less for the Chiefs.
On the other hand, all of the positives in regards to Minnesota's defense stem from the first 6 weeks. Since then they have stunk it up, and I mean worst in the league kind of bad. They had a good week vs Detroit, but don't confuse going up against the worst WR corps in the league with going vs the best. As far as the WR/RB question, sigh, I guess you have to start RBs vs the Jets. My only concern there is if Chris Brown will actually get more carries than George.
