defender speciality

what speciality would do the most good for a defender?

i am looking at some trainees and i keep coming across ones with head specialities. the rules says it helps guard against heads from corner kicks, but i have read before they can be taken advantage of speed wise. like there is an even like "player goes around the tall, slow defender" or something like that.

Powerful is good in rain.
Technical is good in sun.
Head is good in rain and sun, but weak against Technical players.

Besides what has already been said . . .

Powerful is particularly good if you may consider using the Pressing tactic in the future. Make sure you have stamina a-plenty, though.

Quick can negate a Quick winger or forward. [But then so will extremely skilled defenders.] But, I believe you will have problems in some weathers [rain?].

As Celeval said, the "player goes around the tall, slow defender" message you mentioned is when a Technical offensive player takes advantage of a Header specialist. But they can score the occasional goal for you, if you have a superior Set Piece taker. And, like you said, they can help prevent set piece goal.

I've got a defensive guy (Ubaldo Matildo Collado) who has been suspended more than "Headcase", but no one cares about him because he doesn't have a cool nickname! I see how it is

Run the 5-3-2 or 5-4-1 and have one of each!

Hey, you join us in IRC so we know your player's name THEN we'll mention Uba by name, too!

I'll be in the chat room tomorrow, moaning about losing my cup game, which I could have won with some better luck
