FBB Patch 1.06

Figure I'll save HR a few seconds...

Quote:
A new patch is available for FBCB. You can get it here:

http://www.fbbgames.com/FBCB106.exe

---------------------------
Version 1.0.6
---------------------------
CHANGES:
*Added an OS selection option under the tools menu. Setting it to Windows ME will have the game use a different screen style to set training options. This should prevent the out of memory error that was occuring.
*Increased the 3p% for players with 3p ability in the 30-50 range.
*Increasing the 3p usage now causes a smaller increase in the number of 3p attempts for lesser shooters.
*Added a clear committed button to the recruiting screen which will remove all committed players from your call list.
*Recruits entering the draft will now be shown in the same color as committed players on the recruiting screen to avoid any confusion.
*All scholarship offers will now be revoked when a recruit decides to enter the draft.
*Illegal screens and charges are now counted as team fouls.
*Adjusted the likelihood of computer teams going after foreign recruits.
*The achievements section will now list the * rating and overall rank the player recieved in high school.
*Added the player's academics rating to the player screen.

FIXES:
*Fixed an error 9 that could occur when trying to print a team's season schedule.
*Fixed an error 9 while outputting the html immediately after starting a new game.
*Possession is now given to the proper team to start the second half and the arrow changes.
*Fixed a possible error 9 during the coach hiring period.

Oh, by the way, does this mean ME is fixed?

Unfortunately, no. The main issue is still there. That just takes care of one of the problems that people were seeing when using ME.

One tiny, teeny, little thing. If you could just fix this if/when you ever release another patch, it might be nice.

The academics rating on the player card is listed 1-100, no matter what the universal game optino is (I have A-F).

Again, if you ever release another patch, if this could get included it might be cool.

Great work, HR, and thanks!

Players are getting credit for a rebound after recovering a blocked shot. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure it's just a blocked shot.

Example:

Player A shoots the ball. Player B blocks the shot. Player C gets the rebound.

Player C should not get credit for a rebound and should read something like:

Player C recovers the loose ball.

I hope I didn't confuse anyone.

Well, I think they're officially tracked as "Team rebounds". The player who blocked the shot doesn't always get the rebound. But nevertheless, it should go in as a team board, not an individual, I think.

Also, HR, I've noticed this for a while I think. It seems like team fouls might be a bit too high. Not sure if this is realistic or not, or if it's just an abberation in my game (I've only watched about 30 games), but it looks like pretty much every half every game both teams get into the double bonus. Is this normal? If not, I'll try and take a more detailed look in the future.

Thanks!

The 1st part you are correct. I'm almost 100% certain that it is a team rebound now that you mention it.

For the second part. I really haven't noticed fouls being too high. I've seen games where they are high and a couple where they are low, but in my career it seems ok. I'll watch for it and try to dig up some team foul numbers in the NCAA last year.

Ok, I found stats for fouls per game for the 2001-2002 season.

1.) 12.3
318.) 24.0

I didn't feel like doing an average for all teams in Division I.

Those seem to be stats from Women's basketball. The numbers I have show a range of about 15-24 with an average of 19.2.

Heh, I thought the teams on the top looked a bit odd, but I was showing my son the sesamestreet.com site at the time and really didn't think much of it.

From watching NCAA basketball, it does seem that most teams end up in the double bonus in the 2nd half of games.

I just found the CNNSI stats on fouls per game for this season, they run from 15-25. When I watch games I'll keep track of the numbers for my Career, but that seems to be about what I'm seeing.

Everything I've read shows a recovering a block is a valid rebound. A team rebound only occurs when the ball goes out of bounds. This is the interpretation from the 2002 NCAA Basketball Statistician's manual. Someone looked it up for me when the question came up in FBB as well.

Was this with a new career or one started prior to the patch? What time during the season did you try to view it?

Edit: Nevermind. I found it. Fix will be posted shortly.

Hey Heavy:

It looks like the backgrounds for the "about" screen and the "choose OS" screen are missing now. Just one dark square in the top left-hand corner.

Download this file and save it to the images folder and it will take care of that:

I just added it in this patch. It is under the season menu. The bubble watch is updated each monday starting in February until the tourney is set.

Edit: The error 9 on the bubble watch should be fixed. It happened in situation where the game was expecting to have data for the watch but didn't. If you were using an old save and went to the watch prior to it getting an update, it would give the error.
