FBCB Stress
After winning my first conference championship with Norfolk State in 2010, I gladly accepted the position at Bowling Green, a prestige of 55 and coming off a decent season.
So in my first year, I have a crappy team, a bunch of good players must have left. I end up halfway through the year though, finding a gem, a SF freshman who has been getting 2 minutes a game, I decide to start over a struggling senior. The guy ends up playing 25 minutes a night and puts in about 11 ppg as a starter! And he is a freshman. I end the season 13-18, and it is my first year so it is ok. I get wonderful news, my recruiting class of 4 kids is #37 in the nation!! At Bowling Green, that is incredible for me. Never have I had a class so high. And I look at these 4 guys, 2 freshman with good potential and 2 juco boys who will start right away. So I have 2 new juco guards starting and a sophomore shooter at SF. But my PF and C are pretty weak, and the team goes 13-17. But I know in the next season with 1 more year under everyones belt, and again no seniors who started, it could be a big year. But this stupid AD at Bowling Green. Both years he wanted me to win the conference, knowing this team was not good enough to do so. So after 2 years of slowly building a good team, I get canned! ![]() Off to stupid Wright State I go, and man do I wish I was still with Bowling Green. I was getting attached to those guys, and I just knew the team had enough talent to be special. So yes while my Raiders go 10-15, Bowling Green in the year without me heads into their conference tournament at 19-8, and 12-5 in conference, good enough for 2nd place in the MAC East. |

That's tough to take, but a reality in today's sports. I'm amazed at how much is in this normal looking sim.
I've had a ton of fun thus far. Darn TCY taking my time up as well, no time for FOF 2004 yet. ![]() Funny thing is, I almost bought ESPN College bball today at the mall. Todd |

Wright State sucks.
Just thought I'd throw that out there for any Daytonians that happen to be lurking about. Go Flyers!

I feel your pain brother, I left La Tech for Purdue going for the bigger job. Even though I knew La Tech was going to be good, I had just had a top 5 recruiting class and just won 20 games with all freshman and sophomores. Well three years later I get canned from Purde and La Tech had lost a total of 6 games in 3 years.

These are the 2 games I'm playing right now as well. Weird thing happened to me in TCY though. I let the computer handle my recruiting one year and my end-of-year scorecard showed that I received a big fat goose egg for recruiting that year. My scouts scored a few decent recruits so I was kind of confused. |

The EOY recruiting rating compares the CURRENT abilities of your incoming recruits to the CURRENT abilities of your outgoing seniors.
Thus, it's not a very reliable rating.

this make sense, somewhat, but does that EOY scorecard affect anything in the next season. The seniors that were leaving were superstars though. The #3 rated runningback and the #4 rated QB. |

Are you sure about that? How could a successful program ever manage a decent score, then? If my departing classes are well-developed, the players have plenty of high CURRENT scores, but my incoming players nearly all have very low CURRENT scores - even if they have high FUTURE ratings. |

Hmm... I'm probably mistaken. I'm guessing I'm just remembering incorrectly what I read on this topic a while ago (perhaps even from you). Someone please jump in here to correct me.

I highly recommend it. Try the demo for yourself, though, at the FBCB Website. It's a FULLY playable 3-day trial version.

Sorry for the hi-jack people. I will drop out and create a new thread concerning TCY EOY report cards after I play a few seasons on the current game. To the person asking about FBCB, the answer is that your sim collection would be incomplete without it. I have TDCB and there are some things that I like about it but FBCB seems to lay all the stats and information out in plain view. This, to me, is important. I hate searching for things that I know should be easily accessible. I believe that the way recruiting is handled is a little better. I also believe that FBCB encourages lower-conference play more than TDCB. So what If I don't win the tournament every season. I own the Southland conference which is what is expected of me. |

Ouch Shorty, that's a tough break.
I luckily have managed to not be fired yet, of course I'm just now getting into my first serious career, so I'm sure I just jinxed myself. Man, that's a quick firing though..that's just a tough break there. It gives you a mission though, stick it to BG every chance you get. mtaystl03- As to the question of whether FBCB is a good game, I'd echo the suggestions to try out the 3 day demo, it's definitely the most fun I've had with a text sim in a long time. Harkens back to my original Championship Manager addiction. There's a big thread with a lot of talk about FBCB on here, not very old. |

I have not had as much fun with a text sim since Championship Manager 01/02. That says a lot.

It does factor in quality of outgoing players somewhat. Starting out with a bad team, you can get 95's regularly, but when I'm a Top 10 team, even the #1 class won't give me above an 80 for recruiting, and if it's only Top 10, I'll usually get a rating in the 30's. |

Put it in the main folder for the game. It isn't a complete list but it has data for most of the states.

I've updated the list a little, and will post it on my site later. I've filled out the states with no or few JCs listed with JCs from other states.
So basically, if you recruit a JC player from Delaware, he will no longer be from Delaware JC, he'll be from "Indian Hills (Ia.)" for example. Obviously, despite the fact that he's at an Iowa JC to recruit him you'll be using the distance from his hometown to your school, not his JC town.

I've had 99/100 for recruiting scores the last two years, I was thinking it must be factoring in the seniors leaving or at least comparing them to my prestige?

I have just added to this file to include a bunch of colleges, probably over 300. Each state has atleast 2 community colleges, with many having a lot more. http://www.jbl.ootp-leagues.com/host/cc.csv Last edited by korme : 12-08-2003 at 08:48 PM. |

There was a problem that was making it not work right for new players. The ones that showed up the first two years were the only ones working. It should work better now. Just grab this:
http://www.fbbgames.com/FBCB106.exe If you are continuing a saved game, it will take 2 seasons for the old JC players to get out of the system. Last edited by HeavyReign : 12-09-2003 at 02:15 PM. |
