Has anyone else noticed teams going for it alot in FOF 2k4?
I just lost to the Steelers because of this. Granted, it was earlier in the game - and darn it I have game logs off by default - but it was a normal 40 something yard FG and 4th and 8. Weird. Todd |

I saw this where the other team's kicker was injured (probably or questionable), but otherwise no.

No injured kicker, I wish I had the game log to post. Pittsburgh went for it on a fourth down as well early in the 2nd half.
Maybe it was just a fluke, a fake, or bad snap? Todd |

Note IRL last night on Monday night, the Dolphins went for 4th and 7 in the second quarter from the 32 I think. About a 50 yard field goal, well within Mare's range. So, sometimes it happens.

You see this more in the NFL because they made a rule change a few years ago that if you miss a field goal, the other team takes over at the spot of the kick, not the line of scrimmage. it makes fourth and whatever on the opponents 35 or so a play where you try for a first down. Too short to punt, but give up too much field position if you miss the field goal.

I noticed last night when setting up some game plans that the computer recommended "80" for the value on go for it on 4th down (50 is league average). I have no idea how the game comes up with its recommendation for how frequently the team goes for it on fourth down, but maybe the team you were playing had a very high value. Of course, there's no way to know this. It might just be that you stumbled across some wierd combination of a very high go for it rating, a bad kicker, maybe the wind was blowing against him, etc. I watch the pbp of all the games and I haven't seen anything too unusual in this regard.

Mine's set at 66, maybe Martz is controlling my team without me knowing it.
