Why can you renegotiate some contracts, and only view ohters?

if you sign a player to a one year contract, you con't renegotiate with him. That might be what you are seeing.

If the player was signed in the current year, you can't renegotiate with him, regardless of the length of his contract, I believe. I think that's realistic.
