Man, I just Drafted Ray Guy
I broke my first cardinal rule, and took a Punter in the second round. At draft, he was 91/91.
As his first year has progressed, hes now 98/98. Ratings are 98/100/100/87 right now. I should do a Dynasty about this guy. *edit* I should add his name isnt really Ray Guy, but it is Chad Morton. Last edited by stevew : 01-05-2004 at 12:37 AM. |

Convert him to a safety. Come on. It would make Ray a very happy camper.
![]() I'm betting he'd have been a fine safety in the NFL too.

dola, not that it's a bad rule but I'd say this one is HORRIBLE as a first cardinal rule. It's nowhere comparable with not getting involved ina land war in Asia or anything.

Okay, that would be an FOF cardinal rule. Especially cause you cant choose the contract the guy signs to anymore.
BTW, does anyone know if Janikowski actually got first round money when he got drafted, or if he "got paid good for a kicker." |

This is an interesting situation. I really don't like the current system of rookie contracts either but back when we could work with the contracts there was a lot of negotiating but not much budging going on and that was just as much a pain. I'm not sure it was any better actually come to think of it but it gave the illusion of having more control.

Just did a quick search and found this. I don't know how accurate it is, but it seems close to what a kicker would get in the 1st round. "Janikowski's contract is reportedly for a total of $6.05 million over 5 years, including a $2 million signing bonus. This observer shudders to think what kinds of trouble this immature kid can get into with that size bonus. Let's hope he doesn't blow the cash on rounds for the house at his favorite bar . . ." http://www.vertgame.com/news/news00-3.html |
