Apple announces mini Ipods

A bit costly, tho, the 4 GB iPod will retail at $249, just $50 lower then their 15 GB iPod, but will come in the choice of five colors.

The RIAA is going to love this...

speculation was that these were going to be more in the $100-$150 range,

$249 seems a little much, IMO.

I think the speculation was mostly that they were going to be 2 GB and in the $100-150 range. 4 GB and $250 is higher, but not so bad. The hard drive technology for these things is very cutting edge and is bound to be pretty expensive. Like the early iPods that were sold for the cost of their hard drives, the prices may come down as HD prices do.

everytime those damn Lexus commercials came on TV, I couldn't help but start to laugh. you know, the ones where the unsuspecting spouse follows a trail of christmas ribbon to the garage, only to find a brand new car as a christmas gift.

do people do this in other households? because if so, I've been missing out.

Then, you must really love the last Budget rental car ad, where a guy is giving a girlfriend a new car with a bow on top. You see the girlfirend going crazy in fornt of the car as the guy sits back with a big smile and the anouncer mentions something about $29.99 a day.

That comercial had be rolling just thinking about what would happen at the end of the weekend. Also, had me smiling about how much that guy would be smiling the weekend nights.....again, and again, and again.

Not sure if it was definately a "Budget" rental car comercial.

If you go through the apple education store and find thier home school link, you can get one of these for $229, or a 15 gb iPod for $269. Not bad prices.

as an owner of a 15 GB ipod, I can tell you that the 4 GB version won't be enough room. 1000 songs? sure, at 64kps. I transfer all my songs at 128 at least. 4 GB won't suffice a cd collection of over 150 cds.
I would wait for a bigger version of the smaller ipod (confusing...hehe)
