How Long Before Joe Gibbs...

Strangles Daniel Snyder? I give it one day, two at the outside. It's possible the hit might already be arranged, since that's the only way I can see him going to work for that coach-eater.

Edit: should also add that it's fantastic to see all these old time coaches coming back to kick ass.

They could get along. I would have never believed it possible but I thought that Parcells would have arranged something against Jerry Jones through his NY connections

Ahhh.... you can practically taste the fear and jealousy amongst all the Redskins haters.

For too long, this proud franchise has been your doormat. Now, the empire prepares to strike back with a vengeance. Take your shots while you can. By this time next season, you'll be cowering in discontent after witnessing Gibbs taking the most talented team in the NFC East straight to a division title.

It's good to be a Redskins fan again.

Sounds familar...like when Spurrier was hired. Sounds familar like when Marty was hired...

You wouldn't want many others besides Gibbs but he still has to re-enter the profession after 11 years totally away from the game. We'll see what he has left in the tank...

I like Gibbs and think he could do a good job. Although I'm a bit concerned he may out of touch after 11 years, the biggest worry has to be Snyder. If Gibbs doesn't make it past 1-2 yrs, Snyder will have a hard time getting a serious candidate. (I'm sure there are already plenty of good candidates that wouldn't/won't even listen to offers at the present time)

Still I'm no Redskins fan, and could care less how they do. I'm still angry about the XVII SB loss, Redskins 27-Dolphins 17.

answered my own question (taken from NFL.com)

Quote:
The Redskins interviewed at least three other candidates: former Giants coach Jim Fassel, former Vikings coach Dennis Green, and Seahawks defensive coordinator Ray Rhodes.

ahhh, there we go. The nfl rules working their magic.

[edit: Dennis Green and Ray Rhodes better make sure they keep track of their frequent flyer miles as they will probably be able to fly to Mars for free from the trips they will be taking to satisfy the rule.]

Romeo Crennel had an interesting perspective on it. He felt that the main benefit of the rule is that it allows deserving people who would not normally get a shot the opportunity to make a positive impression. Basically laying the groundwork for future dividends even if nothing comes of the first contact.

That is a good point, but I still think rules like this only cause further problems.

I do not think that that you will hear anybody complain about the hiring of Joe Gibbs. According to all involved, the Redskins interviewed a number of canidates, conducted fair interviews with each canidate and chose who they felt was the most qualified. That is the way it should have been going all along. If the NFL owners needs this rule to produce such a hiring then long live the rule.
