Stupid Things you have done in hattrick?

I think two of the stupidest things I ever did in hattrick was 1. bought a crap player back, that I put up for sale. 2. Sold my team clown before even knowing what a team clown was, to AE for something like 25k. I still dont have a good clown yet

I spent the first 5+ weeks of my first season with an uber-clueless training program (daytraining keepers, and not that well). I could have gotten another level on both my current keeper and the one I sold had I a clue.

When I started, there were either three or four weeks left in the season. I trained general for all of them (IIRC) before switching to keeper after offseason stamina training. I might have been not as dumb as I thought and switched to keeper for the last week of the regular season, but I don't think so.

I spent $50 000 on an 18-yo inadequate keeper, then waited five or six weeks (the start of the following season) to start training him.

I spent $10 000 on an inadequate winger / inadequate defending, notably above the asking price, without a competing bid, and at a time when I was around for the close.

But with those mistakes out of my system, I think I've been playing pretty smart since.

I PIC'ed and played my B squad against a poor team so that I could play my starters on Wednesday in the FOFC Cup last year. We drew the game despite better ratings, which caused me to have to MOTS the final game of the season, which killed my chances to win the qualifier, which resigned me to staying in V.41 another year, while Chivas learned to actually play the game and make some nice improvements to his team, which has put me 3 points behind him in second place, with the final game of the season at his place, with me not currently sitting in an auto promote spot, so even if I win, I'll have a tough qualifier, because I'll probably have to MOTS the final game.

[takes a breath]

On the other hand I got all the glory of winning FOFC Cup IV.

Can I trade it back in for a promotion?

In my first day I added 5 VIP seats to my stadium. No other seats, just 5. So for about a month I had my stadium's capactiy at 7005.

Of all of them, this is my favorite!

This may be my biggest mistake, playing starters on Wednesday during the whole season that I was in div V, in an all-bot league. I won the league no problem, but my players missed on a lot of valuable experience. My only excuse my be that this was the season before experience really became important, so we didn't really know that a player with weak experience can perform much better than a player with wretched or even disastrous experience...

When I first started, I had no clue about training...or anything else for that matter.

Spent first half of the season training stamina and general (to fix from stamina) on alternate weeks.

Then I bought inad keepers, 2 per week, at the "will pop with one week of training" value and sold for nice profit. While this got me a very GOOD team that won DVI and is in 1st in DV now, it was not a long term training program that is needed to REALLY get good, but some of y'all showed me a better path to righteousness, and I finally switched to PM.

well I took two seasons to even decide on a training program, that was pretty stupid. I also really wasted alot of cash on players that werent even that good.

I added 20.

That and Jerome Bettis.

That and a bunch of worthless bums. I didn't know any better. At least Hulsey has been able to learn from my mistakes.

well... Hulsey just lost in a walkover because he didn't set a line-up. I guess you didn't teach him very well!

My stupid moves was switching back and forth between different skills each week.
Of course I didn't know any better, as I thought it was the right thing to do.
Another was training general for half a season before I finally read up on what to do, and what not to do. I now train keeper, although I do plan on going PM though.

Due to changes in my priorities in real life, the Ockham's Razors are going to fold.

Thanks go out to Caesar(Ardent) who introduced me to the game, and to Cheetum who made my logo. Good luck to DIV. VI.35, and to all the guys in the FOFC.

I know...I called him...he was "too" addicted...and to know Hulsey is to know when he gets too caught up in something he pulls away. I've seen it a couple of times. He's hated and liked football a number of times.

I won't even get into our playstation argument.

Anyway, Hulsey is most likely done for good.

I bought a 20 year old inadequate keeper for $90k because, well . . . his value was $90k . . . seemed like an appropriate bid.

I spent 500K trying to get a better coach, even though I was just looking at his leadership, experience, and personality for probably the first 200K. Now, 4 seasons later, I fianlly got a solid coach, which I probably fired after about 50K of searching.

That and buying a 19 yo solid PM for 230K.

That and the fact that I took HFP's strategy to training and switched EVERY week for about 13 weeks.

That and buying a 17 yo player who had inadaqutes nearly across the board for 200K.

I've got more....

One guy in my series one-upped this I think.

His first move wasn't quite as bad. He added 50 under roof and 50 VIP.

Then he made a second expansion, and he now has the most expensive 9600 seater in the Hattrick history. Which he also isn't even coming close to filling.

Usually do something dumb every week. This week, it was screwing up the match orders and playing a 3-6-1. Not brilliant.

I didnt do anything like only adding 5 seats, but I did add seats without consulting the arena sizer application. I think I added around 1000. Then I found the arena sizer and added the correct amounts like 2 weeks later.

I also wish I would have bought a passable/poor coach as one of my very first moves.

Yeah, I played a lovely 2-6-2 once when I used to use a 2-5-3 as a formation.

I have done so many stupid things... I don't know if I h ave the time to post all of them.

Let's see, I'll list a few.

Expanding my Arena while drunk (my arena is still screwed up)
Trying to run a 2-6-2 on the U20 squad and made a middie play defender toward the middle instead of extra middie so it was a dumb 3-5-2 (which actually was brought up in my election). Sadly, we won that game...
"testing" 4 Inner Middies in a friendly, only to find out I lose a WHOLE WEEK OF TRAINING FOR EVERYONE!
paying way too much money for way to many players.
not being able to beat the Evil Gargs, despite having an excellent mid to their weak mid, plus owning all of the other stats... started me down the spiral (second game we ever played). I think it's at 7 league losses and 1 friendly loss and 0 wins.
Not demoting out of IV.19 when I had the chance.

10/31/2002 Sold Jonas Sommarsten to Lujus 102 000 US$ (122 000 US$)

I was between -300k and -460k for 20+ weeks after first starting. constantly having to sell players

Not upgrading my arena past 10k until I promoted to IV (20+ weeks)

Training a 26 year old from solid to formidable playmaking (yes it took a while!)

becoming friends with lytic..

Typical stuff here - not having a training program for 1+ seasons, mostly, though, was my biggest setback.

Now I finally have a pretty good thing going, and the other teams in my series get good. Go figure.

How about expanding my Arena at the wrong time and forcing a match between lytic and I to be played with hardhats on?

Training a 28 year old. Training him 7 weeks past excellent before selling him.

PICing a match 2 seasons ago agains Hobbes-. Ended up in a tie and killed my chances at taking the IV.19 title.

Well I started out with a passable keeper. When I decided I needed a backup I bought a weak keeper for 30k.

I also didnt upgrade my stadium for almost 2 seasons. That resulted in never having a trainee above excellent since I had to constantly sell them to stay away from the (-500k) mark. Despite that I still managed to finish 2nd in a tough division V. Im just now starting to recover. Next season I should finally have enough money to upgrade my midfield and keeper and get the hell out of DV.
