This is a pretty busy weekend for the top teams trying to contend for their respective series. Here are a big ol' bunch of

interesting matches for your perusal.

Intercourse Ball Kickers (70548) v. Reseda Rollergirls

The Intercourse Ball Kickers (70548 YosoySean (literally, Louisiana sucks)) got smacked in their own nads last week by the

Louisanna Cyclones (72080 Doug5984) by a score of 2-1. The loss has, for the moment, kicked the Kickers off of the top of

series IV.5. Intercourse has no time to catch their breath after last week's tryst, they have been called on to preform

again in another hard matchup that might have a sticky outcum. I really have no idea what's going on in my mind. Anyway,

Intercourse will be showing their stuff when the Reseda Rollergirls come to town next week, and with each team averaging

nearly 4 goals per game, there will undoubtedly be plenty of action in the box and that each team will be completely spent

after an intense, physical battle. The Rollergirls dominated Intercourse at their last rendezvous, 4-2. Intercourse will

be looking to tie up the Rollergirls this time, hopefully more effectively penetrating their defenses, wearing them out, and

finally bringing them to their knees.

Joliet Prison v. goldurnears (72020)

Near as I can remember, this is the first time I've touted my own team in a GotW setting. At this time last season,

goldurnears were all but relegated. It took a massive surge on our part, a massive collapse on the part of relegated AS

Baconfats (they deserved relegation just for that name), and of course, a little timely letdown on the part of vexroid's NE

Oklahoma Sidekicks. One season later and look at us now. The goldurnears have no business winning a division IV series,

let alone trying to promote, but the Sidekicks could very well go up and survive. To that end, a big derby upset against

Joliet would go a long way to making sure the Sidekicks win the series. If the season were to end before tonights game,

they would be autopromoting. We got beat in the home derby 4-1, but I have a pretty good feeling the lads will be playing a

little bit tougher this week. I'm quietly optmistic about the result, and am certain we are about to obliterate our best

midfield rating.

Mountaineer Soccer Club v. SouthPark Cows (70821)

With three FOFC entrants in one division, you'd think one of them would have a chance at the title. The season, that would

appear to be the Gargoyles (70991 Ravenhawk). While I believe they were at the top of the table until recently, they have

since been knocked off, and are now seeking help from their friends. This week, that help could come from the SouthPark

Cows (70821 lytic). I don't know if Gargoyles and Cows can have meaningfull relationships, but it would be.....oh wait, I

don't want this one to degenerate as badly as that earlier one did. When the Cows has the home ice, they scored a 1-1 draw,

mixing a titanic/magical/mythical defense with a brilliant counterattack, which accounted for their own goal. Big match.

I just can't get away from this series. Five weeks to go, and still only 4 points separate the ceiling from the floor.

Last week Apoc managed a 1-1 draw on the road vs. TROGDOR, while current basement dwellers Panther City lost 3-1 to first

place crunchers. This week, both squads have big games, as they play fellow relegation contenders. A loss by Panther and a

win for Apoc, for example, would leave then five points into the relegation zone with 4 weeks to go.

well i just scored early on in the second half to make it 2-1. They had 59% possesion and i missed 2 chances in the first half. They made their lone chance. I'm hoping my stud defense can hold up for the rest of the game. A win or a draw for me will pretty much clinch the series for me.

Interesting thing was that this game was almost a mirror image of our first game this year. Last time I went up 1-0 in the first half on a header goal and Blade managed to tie it in the second half. This time Blade got up 1-0 on an early header and then I managed to tie with a second half goal.

USA IV.5 Intercourse Ball Kickers 0 - Reseda Rollergirls 0

There was a lot of pregame hype, but it appears to have prematurely fizzled into a boring affair with no penetrating shots.

Oh well. The Kickers are now in 4th, 4 points out. Fellow IV.5er Louisiana Cyclones play the first play Cowboys next week,

and will have a chance to tighten up the series.

USA IV.10 Joliet Prison 2 - goldurnears 3

They are already calling for the managers head in Jolietville, as the goldurnears delivered on their promise to dominate the

midfield, and in fact put up their first ever Magnificent midfield. That domination translated into an avalanche of chances

and a goldurnears victory. Joliet will have to face Vexroid's NE Oklahoma Sidekicks next week in a match that could well

determine whether or not the Sidekicks will be auto promoting to division III.

USA IV.19 Mountaineer Soccer Club 3 - SouthPark Cows 0

The Cows were just no match for the Mountaineers today. The Gargoyles did manage to keep pace, and are still only 1 point

away from the top.

USA II.3 Knights of the Apocalypse 0 v. TiMeWaR 0
USA II.3 Panther City FC 2 v. Siena AC 0

Life is good again for Panther City, as they move from dead last to 3rd with their victory. Amazingly enough, apoc managed

to climb from 5th to 4th after a scoreless draw. The top two teams have a four point lead on the pack, while the bottom six

are only separated by one. Things are going to stay interesting here for a while.

USA V.7 75th Rangers 4 v. Hobo Chunks 1

The Chunkers will have to wait for next season it appears.

USA V.35 Negative Waves 1 v. Bing-Bang 1

The Waves led this game, and their series, for all of about 2 minutes before Bing-Bang equalized. They still trail by two

points in the standing, and the top four teams are all within 3 points, so there is still room for the Waves to end up on

top.

USA V.85 Mississippi Strikers FC 0 v. Lord Nut 3

I hate to see a team with a name like Lord Nut do well, but what can you do? The Strikers and fellow FOFC team Jacksonville

Kickers are tied at 24 points a piece, six points back, and they play next week in a match that would likely decide second

place.

USA V.103 SD Strikers 4 v. S. Boston Hooligans 2

The Hooligans led twice in this match, but ultimately could not hold the Strikers off. They are still in first place in the

series, but the lead has shrunk to a mere 7 units of goal difference.

USA V.141 AC Pasadena 4 v. Murfreesboro Mules 1

The Mules were unceremoniously kicked from first place this week. They now have a week to catch their breath while they

wait for their chance against the other top team in the series.

USA V.158 booger ballers 2 v. Toledo Mud Heads 0

This solid win coupled with an unexpected draw from the former first place team has seen the ballers through to the top of

the table. No rest for the weary, they take on new second place side Aurochs next week.

USA V.187 Aholics 2 v. Eugene Cannolies 4

Another first place team bites the Cannolie here, and the Aholics are now 1 point behind two teams. We'll see if they can

manage to sneak their way back up.

USA V.193 Reign 1 v. Blade Bombers 1

The draw keeps Reign two points above the Bombers, both teams well clear of the rest of the series. The Bombers will have

to rout for someone else to help them out if they are going to steal the title.
