NFL Team Pronunciation

It's probably just me; or does one get irritated with how some commentators pronunciate a team's name incorrectly? To be fair; I'm not quite so sure how it should be pronounced, but when it comes down to the Jacksonville Jaguars, is it:

1 -> Jag-WAYhrs

or

2 -> Jag-WHAres

How do you pronounce it? (Or better yet, provide your own example. I've heard too many of each style to get a definitive answer to this)

Not Jag-WHERES too, I hope. I've heard a /ton/ of those pronunciations to drive me nuts. Don't really know why, but it just does for some reason.

Based on your phoentic spellings, I'd say No. 1 is wrong and No. 2 more closely matches the preferred prounciation.

I'm fine how anyone pronounces so long as they don't pronounce it like that announcer in those Jaguar (car) commericals. You know, "isn't it time you got a Jag-you-are?"

Just makes me want to punch the guy in the face.

Perfectly legitmate pronounciation of the word, like "EEEE-ther and IIIII-ther." Just a more commonly British pronounciation, I take it with my conmversations with a my father ( who lived in London for several years, has his Masters from the University of London, and I'm a rabid Jaguars fan)

You gotta hear it, though, Anxiety. The guy really comes off snotty.

It probably won't surprise you that the announcer is also distinctly European (although I don't know that he is British).

That is definately something I hate hearing. 3 syllables and all, as opposed to a simple 2!
