Draft Files

As my first season of my dynasty, NEW YORK JETS is coming to a close I am trying to decide which draft file to use.

Should I use the draft file created of the real players coming out of college?

Should I use the draft files generated by TCY?

Or the draft files generated within the game?

Looking for feedback.

Use whatever floats your boat

Currently in my Bills career I use the game generated players. In my other career that I'll be starting soon, I'll be using TCY draft classes from my Syracuse dynasty.

From my experiance it seems that TCY imports provide a lower skill of players then game generated files. Just something to think about.

I'm basing this on only one TCY-imported draft, but I found myself much more involved and interested in the draft, poring over their college stats as an extra method of determining who to pick. Sadly I found picking players based on their college stats was far too unreliable to count on. For example a QB who threw for over 5500 yards in his senior season turned out to be absolute crap in the NFL, with no pass ratings over 10. Yet his backup, who barely if ever played during his final season, broke out to become the best QB in the draft. I surely don't have a problem with good college players not becoming good pros, but the difference between these two QB's shouldn't have been near as severe.

I think it comes down purely to personal preference, since I don't think anyone can say one way is definitively "better" than the other. I had a hard time deciding too, but eventually decided to to use game generated files. I made this decision for the following reasons:

1. It is my general impression that FOF generated drafts have more "integrity." By this I basically mean I trust that FOF generated drafts will have the appropriate ratings levels and talent distribution, whereas I have less trust for draft files that are imported from a product that is two generations behind (TCY was released, then FOF4 and then FOF2004). Also, I imported a TCY draft file and I noticed some little things that seemed strange to me, like a lot of the receivers had very high big play receiving ratings and some other positions had ratings that just looked unusual to me compared to FOF generated drafts. Maybe this was just a quirk, but for me, using FOF generated files gave me more peace of mind.

2. By using FOF generated drafts, I don't have to deal with the distraction (and sometimes frustration) of seeing top TCY performers not even being good enough to be drafted while backups are sometimes first round picks.

3. I don't have enough time to run both FOF and TCY careers with the level of depth that I like. I am far more interested in pro football, so I decided to sacrifice TCY.

In the end, I think reason #3 was the deciding factor for me.
