USA IV.5
Louisiana Cyclones (72080 Doug5984) v. The Dallas Cowboys I seem to be coming back to this series week after week. I guess that's because two FOFC teams are in the top four and there's only 4 points between them. This is an important match both for the Cyclones and the Intercourse Ball Kickers (70548 YoSoySean (literally, Louisiana Rocks)). A loss means the FOFC can wave good bye to title hopes this season, while a win could have four teams within 1 point of the top with three weeks to go. Back in week 4, the Cowboys at home were 3-1 winners over the Cyclones. The Cyclones conceded a 76-72 NSI advantage due to their giving up 4 levels in midfield. With that difference sure to tighten up at home, we hope for great things from Louisiana. Next week, the Cyclones go on the road to see the Rollergirls, so there is a lot of room for a shakeup in this series. USA IV.7
White Sox Pride (71519 Aesyrqwe) v. tornadoes The White Sox are attempting to salvage their Pride, as they battle to avoid autorelegation. Four teams are trying to squeeze into three spots. WSP can put themselves four points clear with a win this weekend against current odd man out tornadoes. Back in week 4, the Pride rallied in the second half for two goals and a 2-1 victory on the road. Tornadoes had reason to feel gipped, as they put up a 71-65 NSI advantage while conceding one level of midfield. WSP face first place Divergence the following week, and then have their walkover, so we can imagine that they will put up a stronger than usual performance. USA IV.10
NE Oklahoma Sidekicks (71068 vexroid) v. Joliet Prison Vexroid can all but seal the deal on autopromotion this weekend against former division III side Joliet Prison. Neither Vex nor I can figure out what's up with these guys, but we suspect it's the quality of the prison food, not to mention certain inmates that may not show the proper physical respect with regards to their rooomates on the team. The Sidekicks put up a magnificent midfield on the road in week 4, en route to a 4-0 shellacking of Joliet. It's hard to imagine that Joliet will allow such a humiliating defeat this time, but the Sidekicks don't seem to be taking any crap from anyone this season. USA IV.43
Revenge of the Nerds v. Chesapeake Cheapshots (71318 Quiksand) The Cheapshots find themselves struggling against relegation here in IV.43. They managed a draw last week against Thunder Chicken, which could be a big deal when you consider the goal difference problem they have. CC has a walkover in hand, so as long as they can manage at least a draw, they will probably survive to the qualification round. Cheapshots managed a pedestrian 2-0 win against the Nerds at home in week 4. It remains to be seen if they can produce something similar on the road. USA IV.62
Real Terps FC (8247 terpkristin) v. Pingchester United The Terps have not enjoyed their first season in division IV. Despite being dead last in the table, they aren't quite dead yet. The last qualification spot is still up for grabs among three teams with 6 points each. A win this week, and a little luck, and TK can spend another season of misery in IV.62. I wonder if she has an explanation for the following item in her club history. "10/28/2003 Real Terps FC was renamed to Real Terps FC." Is it just pronounced differently now? ![]() Canada IV.18
Cerio's Dragons FC (108238 FrogMan) v. The Beatdown Collective The Dragons have been lurking in second place for quite a while now, and this weekend they get their chance to spring into first. Back in week 4, these two top teams played to a 3-3 draw. The Dragons were all but dead when Beatdown collected 3 quick goals in the first 20 minutes, but the Dragons held tough and punched in three of their own to steal a point for themselves, and two points away from their opponents. The NSI's in that contest were 77-70 in favor of Collective. USA II.3
Street Walker v. Knights of the Apocalypse (8090 apoc) TROGDOR the BURNINATOR v. Panther City FC (8081 Lone Star) Another week, another episode of As II.3 Turns. Six teams within 1 point of each other, two of them are going to drop into division III in less than a month. Unless of course, one of the teams tied for first manages to nosedive.... USA V.74
Shredders v. Aardvarks (70769 Aylmar) USA V.158
Kingsburg Aurochs v. booger ballers (8223 fflix) USA V.237
UCSB v. Missouri Tigers (70392 Achilles) USA V.247
North Dakota Flying Buffalo FC (71687 The_herd's wife) v. Slew USA VI.41

Is that the "short name" that appears in the match reports? Didn't know you could change it.

Yep. You can only change it, though, at that time of the season when you do your normal name change. ~tk

I am hoping to get this win, then hopefully a win next week against Reseda. It will take some luck, but I have a shot at winning IV.5! |

This season is gonna give me ulcers. I appreciate the pack staying close so I could fight back after a dreadful 0-0-3 start.....but come on! I've gone 4-3-1 since then yet I'm still only a point out of last place.

Week 11 results
Louisiana Cyclones - The Dallas Cowboys 4 - 0
This big win gives Doug a share of a three way tie for first place in IV.5, and Sean's Ball Kickers are in 4th only 1 point behind. The Cyclones will make another GotW appearance next week as they take on the other first place team. White Sox Pride - tornadoes 3 - 1 Not only does this win seem to have WSP safe from autorelegation, other results conspired to put them into a 4 way tie for 3rd place. NE Oklahoma Sidekick - Joliet Prison 0 - 2 Vexroid's World Class midfield wasn't enough to hold off the prisoners, who apparently were a little pissed off after I slapped them around the week before. That result would have put me in a tie for first place, except that I couldn't score a goal against sixth place side Heavenly Angel, and had to accept a measly point for my efforts. Vex and I may have a showdown for the title in week 14. Revenge of the Nerds - Chesapeake Cheapshot 3 - 0 The Cheapshots are now headed for autorelegation unless they turn things around in one of the two non-walkovers they have left. Real Terps FC - Pingchester United 1 - 4 TK and the terps will almost certainly now be back in D.V next season. I'm sure all of you are shaking thinking about the horde of turtles that may soon decend on you. Cerio's Dragons FC - The Beatdown Collect 5 - 2 The Dragons have clawed their way to the top of Canada's IV.18. With two teams within two points, they need to maintain a good run of form to stay there. Street Walkers - Knights of the Apoca 2 - 2 TROGDOR the BURNINAT - Panther City FC 2 - 2 Same old same old in USA II.3, as 3 matches were drawn this week. The single points for apoc and Lone Star were good enough to keep them tied in 4th/5th, 1 point ahead of the collective basement in 6th/8th. These folks are probably chugging a lot of pepto. Shredders - Aardvarks 2 - 1 A disappointing result for the Aardvarks, who have now been knocked back into 3rd place in V.74 Kingsburg Aurochs v. booger ballers 2-5 The booger ballers have fended off one team in V.158, they may have to battle one more in week 14 to hold on to the top spot. UCSB v. Missouri Tigers 4-1 This loss puts the Tigers 1 point into the relegation zone with an effective 2 weeks to go, as each of these two teams has a match against a team that's already turned over twice this season. North Dakota Flying Buffalo FC v. Slew 7-2 Ouch! Of course, next week the Buffalo have to do it again if they want to stay on top of V.247 Indiana Cougars v. FootKnockers 0-1 The FootKnockers freely admit that they had little business winning this game, and yet they stand in first place in VI.41 with 3 weeks to go. |
