FBCB: Put yourself in the game
Ok, here is my premise for this dynasty. I will follow the career of FOFC created players in the FBCB. Anyone who wants to be involved simply needs to submit their players info and I will add them to the recruit list.
The rules are as follows: 1) You are allowed 550 attribute points to spend on your players 16 different attributes. 2) You are allowed 300 potential points to spend on your players 12 attributes that are allowed this rating. 3) You must name your player, give him a position, a jersey number, a height, a weight and a home town and high school. My thinking is that the 550/300 points should give us a batch of decent players that will wind up finding time on the mid/low tier teams. I will follow the recruiting of your player and then, once he signs (or walks on ) I will follow their progress. To get things rolling, here is my player: Code:

Ok, I forgot about the PF rating. Would anyone mind if I just give everyone 50 for this?

Great idea Groundhog! What about academics, will you be doing that randomly? I'll post my player in a bit, but for those who are new to the game:
Ins = Inside game, points in the paint Jps = Jump shot Fts = Free throw shooting 3ps = Three point shooting Hnd = Hands, dribbling, etc Pas = Passing, ball distribution, good for PGs Orb = Offensive rebounding Drb = Defensive rebounding Psd = Post defense, inside defense Prd = Perimeter defense, outside defense Stl = Steals Blk = Shot blocking Qkn = Quickness (I have to admit I don't really understand the function of the physical stats very well) Jmp = Jumping? Str = Strength Sta = Stamina |

As far as academics I'm just going to give each player a 'safe' score. I don't think it'd be too fun seeing your player head off to a juco school for 2 years, and then proceeding to go about missing most his jnr and snr years due to academics
![]() Ardent/Blade, no probs with the copying and pasting, but if you'd rather adjust your ratings now that Peregrine has spelled out the attributes that is no problem also.

Makes sense Groundhog. I tried to go with a more realistic player in the game as well. You don't see many players with even one 1, much less several of them!

I really had no idea how potential works, so I just made stuff up for that. Hopefully Jeeber will rule the paint anyways...

As far as the physical stats are concerned, here is how I would interpret them:
Quickness: Most important for PGs, SGs & SFs. Leads to higher chance of fastbreaks (both from when your player gets steals, and from other situations such as beating the press), as well as just increasing the overall offensive and defensive ability of your players. Jumping: I assume this rating would influence a players ability to rebound the ball, score close to the basket (lay-ups, dunks and the like) and probably their shot blocking too. I guess all positions would ideally be decent here, but I don't think it's as important a rating as quickness for the back court (PGs/SGs/SFs), nor as important as strength for the inside players (PFs/Cs). Strength: This should be of a decent level for PFs and Cs, followed by SFs to a lesser extent. I don't consider it an important rating for SGs and PGs. Helps with rebounding, post defence and inside scoring. Stamina: Players endurance level. Equal importance to all positions, perhaps slightly more so to guards, but I find that all positions tire at around the same rate.

Potential, btw is rated on the player card on an A-F scale, basically the 1-100 number you assign to each skill in potential is rating how much room for improvement there is over the player's current score. Players with As or Bs will expect to see big boosts over a few years, they will tend to be much better as seniors than as freshmen/sophomores.

wait I'm confused?
Doesn't potential have to be higher than the original attribute? Can the potential + attribute exceed 100? |

Potential is a separate ranking from 1-100 from the current skill level, which is also 1-100.

One last bump for this. I'll be putting all the above players in to the sim when I get home from work tonight (roughly 6 hours from when I post this)!

Also, I ran a test last night and noticed that if a player doesn't get a scholarship offer all season, he falls off the face of the earth.
To combat this, if the season is finished and one or more of the created players gets no scholarship offer, I will overwrite an incoming walk-on freshman on the team that is ranked #1 on the players top-5 list. If there is no room on that team, I will place the player on their #2 team and so on.

I wondered about that Groundhog. It seems to me that the "end of season" recruiting stuff needs some tweaking anyway. For example, if I have a scholarship offer to a player when the year ends, I'm not sure if they can commit after the year is over, or whether new walkons are just generated to fill in the empty spots.
Well, looking forward to seeing how this goes, hopefully it won't be too much work. |

Another issue I've noticed is that the players I create in the 'Future Recruit' pool don't get any high school stats. It's not a huge problem, but I've let HR know and I'll see what he says.

Yep, they are star-rated and given and overall and regional rating, and they are definately cpu-recruited, too.

RealDeal: As Peregrine states, potential is a seperate score not related to the actual rating score, So it's not a matter of adding the two together. For example, if I have a guard with a FG score of 95, but a FG potential of 1, it means he is incredibly unlikely to ever reach 96 or above. If he has a FG of 95, with a potential of 100, he'll likely max out next off-season. With that in mind, your potentials are illegaly high.
MrBug708: I totalled your potentials (after seeing you wind up a 4-star recruit ) and counted 646 potential points, which is a touch above the 300 limit. Please edit your post with a legal amount.

Technically a player can't have a rating of 0 (well, I've seen it in the 1-20 scale but never in the 1-100) and it's pretty rare to have anything lower than 5. I kinda think Groundhog got things off to a bit of an unrealistic start with all his 1s, but we'll see how it goes.
