Call of Duty....
I d/l'd the demo and enjoyed it but what I'll be more likely to play would be the multi-player...
anyone have CoD and playing the multi-player? I don't know why the hell I would be looking to buy another game because I don't have enough time to play the game sI have now!!! ![]()

I played it almost every day for a while -- the MP has issues with cheating, bunny-hoppers, among others, so I'm waiting for the patch (and waiting and waiting and waiting) before firing it up again. You really have to know the map in COD MP moreso than other 1st person shooters or you get killed really quickly which can be frustrating. It can take many hours of gameplay to get over the MP learning curve.
Right now, I'd rate the SP slightly ahead of the MP.

Battlefield 1942 is a bit more advanced for MP in terms of patches/upgrades and things to do. Plus there are tons of mods for BF42. Although CoD runs alot better on any system it still has alot of MP issues that have yet to be addressed, and the 'patch' seems to still be a pipedream at this point.
The game has been out for several months and there hasn't been a single patch, or a official announcement of one... just mostly heresay, but it's supposedly coming out 'soon'. The single player is great, but you're lucky to get more then slightly 10 hours out of it... It's that short... Which is disappointing. I personally would not buy it strictly for MP, as there are many other options available that meet or exceed CoD in that department, especially with so many outstanding issues left unaddressed. |

Oh yeah!! This is more of my topic of discussion.
Call of Duty: Excellent game, yeah the bunny hopping was annoying, but it has now been fixed in the 1.2 patch that just came last Friday. Excellent multi-player game! I play almost everynight when I can on Barney's sniper server. Battlefield 1942: Another excellent game! I really enjoy the Desert Combat Mod. It is awesome, the new maps and all. Multi-player is what it is all about with this game. COOP maps are the BOMB! A new 1.6 patch was released last Friday for this as well. I cannot wait for Battlefield: Vietnam!! Should be incredible, I hope anyway.

Nice to know the patch is out, I had all but given up on it considering how long it took to come out.

I'm always a day late, and a dollar short. I checked for it on THURSDAY, and didn't see it. Hmmmph.

I enjoyed CoD multiplayer so much that I had to stop playing. I'd start and end up playing to four in the morning. Did that three times in a week and realized that I needed to uninstall for a while. Would love to give it another try once I get some of the other games I'm playing finished.
Cincy: The bunnyhopping has been fixed? That would be nice. I didn't mind it, but it sure looked unrealistic. dacman: What cheating issues have their been? Have there been a lot of them? I didn't really notice anything, but I only player for a week or so. |

Godzilla,
Yeah the bunny hopping has been addressed. When you jump now it is more realistic, about half the jump that it originally was. dacman, The 1.2 patch came out last Friday around 9:30 am EST. Get it if you don't have it already. The only thing I don't like is that they messed with the scope on the sniper rifle. 1 shot and now you have to reset your aim, where before you could just see and shoot. (call me spoiled) take some getting used to I guess. If you guys ever want to get a game going let me know. PM me or email me on server you will be on. Like I mentioned before, I am usually on the Barney sniper only server, name is DJanon.

The cheating issues were the usual hacks -- auto aim, damage taken limiter/eliminator, some weapons hacks (firing rate, damage inflicted) -- it really depended on what server you were on and when. I saw no cheating at all for quite a while after the initial release. By January, I'd see 2-3 cheaters a night in a 3-4 hour span with lots of other people complaining that it was becoming rampant. I personally didn't see it THAT much so it may not have been a really big problem.
The sniper rifle thing sounds much more realistic as IRL it was virtually impossible to fire a round, reload, and fire again all without taking your eye off the scope with the bolt-action rifles of that era. I tend to stay away from the sniper only servers.
