Are you a players' guy or management guy

I figured I would throw this poll out there since we have another player/management situation over contract issues. I wondered which side you usually side with? Management or the player. Now I am talking about all contract negotiations (rookie deals or for a free agent) and renegotiations (player initiated or management initiated). I tend to side with the players more often than I do with the owners. I would say about 60 percent of the time.

As one person put it about the 1994 baseball strike, it's a battle of millionaires vs. billionaires. To be truthful, when it comes down to labor vs. management squabbles in professional sports, I empathize with the parking lot attendants, the peanut vendors, and the ushers. I could give a rat's a** about players and owners.

Contract holdouts not withstanding, I more often support the player's attempt to get all he can get on the open market.

I'm in favor of whoever is in favor of salary caps and revenue sharing (which is to say, usually the management).

I side with the fans, who end up paying either way.

Because most fans usually choose one side or another.

I usually side with management. If it wasn't for them, there would be no league and no games played, period. If the players were that smart or that motivated, they would all just start their own league, make it pure revenue-sharing, and then 'talent' would indeed make all the money. But that would be too much 'work', management being a full-time job and all. (Right Mr. Marino?)

I love how the managers always like to blame the ticket increases on player salaries... like they would never raise them otherwise.

I just wish more fans would stop paying for it.

Usually I'm a managment guy. It takes a really bad situation for me to root for a player.

When I have targeted a player and I've decided that, basically, i WANTED him on my team no matter what, than I'll try to secure him and could "force" me to be more player-oriented that owner's.

I usually side with management, but that said, management should know which side their bread is buttered on and not try to burn bridges with star players over a few dollars. *cough*Champ Bailey*cough*

I generally agree with JonInMiddleGA in that I will generally defend the player's attempts to get everything they can in terms of salary. It's not an unfaltering support though, occasionally you see something like the MLB Players Union fighting steroid testing tooth and nail, and common sense things like that, and I get more than just a little frustrated at the entire business.

I'm more of a fans guy. Players and owners are all assholes, but the true villains are the agents.

In MLB/NBA I dislike both sides. In the NFL I side with management because the less a player signs for, the better the team will be. And I root for the jersey, not the player.

I couldn't agree more... agents have ruined professional sports
