Goalkeeper Trainers
Two Questions
1. Can some give me a link to a goalkeeper training calculator? 2. I am in the second year of my goalkeeper training program. I am about to autopromote to div V. I have the following two keepers: Bob Platt 848 000 US$, 18 years, weak form Has disastrous experience and solid leadership abilities Stamina: poor Keeper: formidable Playmaking: disastrous Passing: disastrous Winger: disastrous Defending: disastrous Scoring: disastrous Set Pieces: passable Ion Mitu 1 193 000 US$, 18 years, inadequate form Has disastrous experience and inadequate leadership abilities Stamina: wretched Keeper: outstanding Playmaking: disastrous Passing: disastrous Winger: disastrous Defending: disastrous Scoring: wretched Set Pieces: wretched Do I sell them off and start fresh or keep training them? I am not sure how close they are to popping either that is why I want the calculator to see how close they are. I currently have 1.1 million in the bank and plan to upgrade my stadium and try upgrade my team a bit. Any suggestions?

lol dude.. you're so much further ahead than I was.. your team is better than my team was when I promoted to IV!!!
but here's what'cha do.. you see what u need to upgrade to fit in the mix.. spend the 1.1 mil on some solid players w/experience.. see where that puts you.. and if you are getting your ass kicked you sell a keeper.. and upgrade more.. okay I just looked at your team.. solid players w/experience would do you well.. you want all 3*+ players .. and you should be able to get at least 6 good ones. I would then see how you do with the new team.. and if you are struggling, then sell a keeper after he pops and use the money to get the rest of the players solid.. and maybe an excellent or two in weaker places. REALLY general info I know.. feel free to ask more questions. it's kinda hard without knowing everything about your team..

okay I just looked at your friendly ratings .. geez man.. just spend the 1.1 mil on upgrading your wingers or midfield a little.. and hold onto the keepers. You're gonna be fine in V..
oh and yeah upgrade your stadium a bit too.. and i'm not sure if you wanna keep training keeper.. but that's your decision. what most keeper trainers do is train keeper until they have 2 studs.. (like titanic keeper) and then sell one off and change training. You have many options.. But just so you know.. training something like playmaking, defending, or striker is more expensive to start off.

Alf thanks for the calculator.
I want to train something else but I needed to make some money with little investment so I picked up keeper training. I guess if I can find a 17 yr old solid at the beginning of next season for a decent price I will sell off my Outstanding keeper but if I don't I will keep training him up. I guess I should have told you to look at the friendly ratings instead of league to get a more accurate look at my team. How much does someone need to really start a good training program in the other areas?

well if you train pm'ing.. you'd wanna pick up 18/19y solids OR 17y passables.. both will cost you 100-250k a pop.. and you need 6.. so you do the math

Ouch. Looks like I have another year of goalie training before I can consider switching, but that was the plan.

you could switch over soon.. just sell the next keeper that pops.. that'd give u 2 mil to upgrade stadium.. and get trainees and get a few better players.. (of course u'd wanna sell your current players in the area u wanna train)

i've been training keepers for 4 seasons now i think, and this is my advice. Get out of it ASAP. I would train until one of the following two things happen:
1) if you can afford the wages, spend the money you have to get a good enough team to compete in V. Train both keepers to the level that you want to keep them at. If you need to sell one to get money to be competitive, that's fine, but invest enough in your stadium to start making cash that way. Then get another trainee, and make him your backup. Train them both to the level you want, let's say, magnificent. After that, I would start looking to train something else. 2) If you really really want to stay with keeper training, sell the higher one next time he bumps a level, and a 17 passable/solid. If its the beginning of next season, i would look at an 18 high passable/solid. 17s are pretty rare early on. Next, set a level, prolly outstanding, at which to always sell your keepers. After oustanding, it gets a little tougher to sell them. Those are just my suggestions. I tried for awhile to buy high passables and sell them at excellent. Quick training, just not profitable enough. I'm in the toughest division in IV and I don't think I can continue training keeper much longer to stay competitive. |

As with any other position, I believe you start to see the real money per week of training once you clear formidable. I wouldn't sell below outstanding.
With $1.1 MM to spend, you should have no trouble at all competing in division V, and you may even be able to promote. You might still want to sell Mutu after the next pop and make a run at promotion right now, then you'll be able to sell Plat after this season for $$$ and have a new trainee who will be up to par as a league starter. |

I'm going to be just a little bit different (that NEVER happens . . . or something):
I'd say, if you really want to start over with a fresh trainee (ie, 17 year old solid), sell Platt at his next pop and keep Mitu. Sounds odd, I know. Here are my reasons: 1) As Mr. Wednesday mentioned, outstanding is the minimum selling point. At pop, Platt (heh) will be outstanding and will fetch you a damn decent chunk of change that, along with your current savings, will allow you to improve your team AND upgrade your trainees. 2) Mitu is ALREADY outstanding. He should still have another couple of years of fairly rapid improvement left. When he gets to whatever crazy level you decide to ship him off at (I'd say at 20), he'll be bringing in some crazy money. 3) You're selling an 18/19 year old keeper-in-progress to buy a 17 year old trainee . . . presumably to chase a Trainee Uber Alles - you might as well have the guy in front of him be damn good. In this situation, you'll have a 17 year old as an understudy to a 19 year old. When you sell Mitu at 21, the new trainee will just be turning 19 and be ready to rock-and-roll in your league game. Perfect turnover rate. Looks like you're pulling a pretty strong midfield in your friendlies (normal on a high team spirit is a wonderful thing). I'd try to give it a whirl and see what you can pull with an offensive winger instead of a toward middle. The passable against Rantzwiller was definitely not bad. I think you'll want to improve your midfield, though. Possibly, ahem, "promoting" Benedict to backup duty. You can buy a darn decent one with 1.1M to play with. You might also consider bringing your defenders to solid across the board - I think solid defenders with decent experience can take you a long way with your training regimen. As a goalkeeper trainer, I'd keep an eye out for somebody with good set piece abilities since, chances are, you won't give up many goals. FIRST and foremost, however, I'd suggest moving on up to a solid coach. Siegel is at poor leadership anyway and any extra week of training helps. Especially since you're going to be chasing a high quality trainee. You'll be paying a premium for him, no sense in not giving him an optimal environment. Oh, and I'd start Mitu in league and Platt in friendlies. It isn't much but you'll be better off giving Mitu the extra experience over Platt. Mitu will be the one fetching you the big bucks. Extra experience will only up his price. |

I would sell the outstanding for around 2.5 million, upgrade from their, buy one more trainee, and train your other guy all next season, sell him at the end of it and with the metric assload of cash he brings, decide what to do from there.

anyone interested in training a possible U20 keeper? I've got a 17 formidable, near outstanding worth about 930k or so. His best game was 3.5 stars, but i think he'll get 4 this coming week. I can't decide if I want to train keeper for 3 more full seasons, so I am willing to sell him for the right price.

I train GK, though honestly, I'm not sure how near to outstanding he is... My 17 yo formidable gets 4 stars and is worth over 1 mil at this point...and I'm assuming he has another 3ish weeks before hitting outstanding. On other news, though, is he from the USA (i.e. American-born)? I might be interested if he is (I have an all-US squad). ~tk
