The Buccaneers owe disgruntled wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson a $1 million roster bonus on April 1 as part of the four years he has left on his contract. Therefore, rather than release him, the team is reportedly working on trading him. "They think I'm too valuable of a commodity not to get something for," Johnson told the St. Petersburg Times. The Bucs have spoken with several teams who have interest in a deal. Even if Key gets traded, the Times points out that the Bucs would still have a salary-cap hit of more than $6 million in accelerated signing bonus.

Trades of big-name players don't happen very often in the NFL, but this is one that could go down. We'll keep you posted on the trade talks as they come to light. For now, it is worth noting that Keyshawn says he'd play for the Cowboys, Patriots, or Ravens and the Bucs have reportedly drawn interest from the Lions and Jaguars.

He may, but remember, he was a member of the 2003 Super Bowl Champs. So I think his beef is strictly with Gruden and only post Super Bowl and therefore a solvable problem. And he's only getting older, so his immaturity level is waning quickly (at least I HOPE it is!).

Anyone can be happy on a team that's on its way to a Super Bowl title. Keyshawn was a cancer in NY, and became a cancer in TBY when things started going bad. I would NOT want him on a team that still has a year or two to become a contender, such as the Falcons. Then again, I wouldn't want him on my team, period; as you say, he's only getting older, and the only things waning are his skills.

I think that more than a few teams are going to try to get ahold of Johnson and that even more will wish that they had. Heck, this guy has talent. The reason he is in such a bad situation right now is the whole scheme used in TB. If a team has a need for a possesion receiver who will grab the ball any chance he can get then Johnson may just light it up again. I think that Philly and Baltimore would be great teams for him. Remember, he does have talent. The 'key' is to get a coach and a team around him that can draw it out. Maybe people will remember a certain 'Bad Moon' a few years back who just happened to have a solid season for a playoff team that desperately needed a possesion receiver.

Regardless of his choice of preferred teams, he is dreaming that the Pats would even be interested. He is not a "character" guy which is a prerequisite to play on the team. And while I believe he has some talent, I truly believe there are at least 3 receivers on the Pats better than he is. Once he didn't get a few balls thrown his way, look out for the whining.

I actually might not mind Key coming to the 'Boys. We are in desperate need of a possesion reciever, and I think Parcells could keep him in line...

Parcells is probably the only coach in the league that could pull it off. Thankfully I don't think the Patriots see WR as a big need.

Johnson is no more than a second receiver IMO and it wouldn't surprise me if Dallas got him. However, whatever the price is, it can't be too high knowing that he has be be cut or traded.

What about Minnesota? They've been missing a possession receiver since Carter retired and they have some experience with ego-driven receivers.

I was just thinking the same thing. But, I'm not sure I care for Johnson's ego all that much either and I think Nate Burleson still has something to prove.

It's because Gruden just realized how much of a cap hit he'll take when he releases Keyshawn. Heck yes I'd love to see a blue star on his helmet! He may be an overglorified fast tight end but that's exactly what the Cowboys need. After watching the Panthers receivers take Delhomme to the Super Bowl because Steve Smith and Muhsin Muhammed can out wrestle defensive backs for the ball, I realized exactly what type of reciever has been lacking since Irvin retired.

Yeah, I know his speed deserves that overglorified tight end rap he gets but I think he'd compliment Glenn just right. Lord knows the Cowboys could use a great blocking receiver like him. Maybe bring back Galloway and play him as the slot receiver if he'll re-negotiate his contract. I have no idea what happened to Antonio Bryant, I thought he was going to be a great one. His new #88 must have fooled me.

Bryant sucked it big time last year unless you count the ability to drop passes. As a Galloway owner I was continually amazed at the continued effort to get Bryant the ball and just tell Galloway "go deep over there by the parked car and keep running..."
