I don't know why I stopped by this thread because American Idol isn't my cup of tea, but I think it's because "William Hung" sounds like a porn star name.

That's precisely the reason I dropped in this thread. I just can't wait for the porn version of "American Idol" to come out!

While I'm intrigued by thought of how this may be run, I do believe that we would achieve an new low in American society. Especially if Randy and Simon remain as judges.

They had him on Entertainment Tonight and he's doing a college tour "singing" karaoke at parties. They showed him getting down with some hotties...

I know this is going to sound bad, but the petition to get him back on the show reminds me of when I was in high school, and the 17 year olds-going-on-12 thought it would be funny to nominate a particular "mentally challenged" girl for Homecoming Queen.

Honestly, it does. This guy's got no clue as to why everyone is laughing at him, and he's playing along, enjoying the publicity, with very little understanding of why he's suddenly the "Big Man on Campus" (as ET reported it).

I'd say that putting him back on the show would make a mockery of it...but we ARE talking about American Idol here.

From what I've read, he's not sure at all. I think he thinks it's positive reinforcement, as opposed to laughing at him. It seems like he's afraid to believe it might be the latter.

I'm not saying the guy honestly believes he should be a finalist...but then again, he DID show up for the audition in the first place, so he's a bit...off, I'd say.

People don't love him because he's terrible.

People love him because he's terrible and he still gives it everything he has. His sincerity is what appeals to everyone.

I'm sure there are some people who feel that way. But the rest do not "love him" - they are laughing at him because he's not only terrible, but is oblivious to the fact.

Why? Do you honestly believe people are good-naturedly supporting him because he tries hard? If he is invited on that show again, do you really think it'll be because of that, and not because it will make my wife piss her pants for the second time?

And why does that make ME a cold bastard, anyway? I'm just pointing out the obvious. If anything, I feel bad for him. I mean, the performance was funny, but to make a huge deal out of it and then to possibly invite him back on the show...it's like watching a train wreck and getting a laugh out of it.

This is the thing I don't understand about American Idol. I can understand watching for the good singers. I can understand watching for the bad singers who think they're good, and enjoying it when the judges knock the chip off their shoulder.

But what's the deal with the people who are obviously bad, and know they're bad, and are just there to waste people's time and try to get on TV? The fat guys singing Madonna, etc. Doesn't that get old kind of quickly?

I may be wrong, but I am pretty sure in the Movie "Orgazmo" William Hung is the porn name for the main character. The name sounds bad, but the movie isn't that bad. Someone can correct me if I am wrong.

Orgazmo is hilarious. It's Trey Parker and Matt Stone picking on one of their favorite subjects. The mormon church. Here in utah, it was um.....not allowed......anyways, one theater ran it, and it was sold out the entire time it was there.

One word: ratings.

You should read one of the expose on Amer Idol to realize how much of it is scripted and pre-determined.

The reason these no talent ass clowns get on is because the producers of the show let them on. Before every city there is a pre tryout tryout. They filter through everybody and from what I have heard actually leave people with talent out of the tryouts to let people who suck get on so that they have some good TV and some easy targets for Simon.
