eNFL Update:

It only took 3 day from the dust of the very first eSuper Bowl to settle before the first players announced their retirements. And this year eNFL will say goodbye to some big names. Just take a look at this list.

QB Chris Chandler, CHI
TE Shannon Sharpe, DEN
WR Jerry Rice, OAK
WR Dante' Hall, KCY
K Morten Andersen, KCY
K Gary Anderson, TEN
DE Bruce Smith, WAS
S Rod Woodson, OAK

It’s a sad day around the bay but everybody knew it had to happen some day. Jerry Rice has finally called it a day. Properly the best player ever to play the game will never catch another TD. With Oakland’s eSuper Bowl win this season he could not have picked a better time to stop. He will be joint in retirement by Rod Woodson.

Dante' Hall had a very promising career destroyed due to injury in 2003 and had no other choice then to hang up his helmet.

Kansas will also be without Morten Andersen this year. The Danish kicker from Struer started his career in the eNFL 22 years ago in New Orleans after being drafted from Michigan State. He has played for the Saints 13years, the Falcons 6 years, the Giants for one season and finally 2 seasons for the Chiefs. He will end his long career without the biggest price of them all. The eSuper Bowl ring.

Morning Coach. Lets get ready for a new year. We are only a few weeks away from the Scouting Combine. It will be held from Feb. 18-24 and will be our first chance to get a look at the draft class.

Our owner wants a yearly report. I have made the report regarding the economy (see below) and now I need you to take a look at the team and next year’s opponents.

Economic report for the San Francisco 49ers 2003:

The total value of the franchise is now set to $562 mil. We are just outside the top-10 and are valued around $100 mil less then Denver Broncos at the top. We have slipped a couple of spots down the list this year.

The value of the stadium ranked is 11th in the league. Our roster is valued the 4th and we are ranked 16 in support. We got a problem regarding economy. In that arrear we are valued 25.

We had a very good year if we look at the balance sheet only. We finished 2003 with a $24 mil profit. Only 10 teams had a smaller revenue when us last year. We “only” made $101 mil last season with more then half coming from television contract and ticket revenues. We had around $77 mil in costs last year.

Only three teams got in to red numbers last year. Arizona lost the most with $16.5 mil in deficit. In the other end of the scale you find the Redskins. That made a profit of $110 mil in 2003. Most of the money was generated from a $72 mil suite revenue.

We had and average of 68.200 (ranked 11) at out home games last season. That’s 97.7% (ranked 16) of our capacity.

We need to figure out what to do with the stadium. It’s an old stadium from 1961 and only Green Bay and Arizona (Arizona’s new stadium will be ready in 2006) have older stadiums. The stadium and parking lot is still in very good condition and the turf is good. What is realy killing us is the lack of club seats in the stadium.
But if we want to build a new stadium this might be our chance. In a poll in a San Francisco paper today we still got more the 75% fan loyalty and also more then 75% public support for a new stadium. If we are going to rebuild the old stadium anyway to fit in club seats I think we just as well can try for a brand new stadium.

49ers sold

In a surprising development last night it was confirmed that the San Francisco 49ers football franchise would be sold. An anonymous souse inside the eNFL organisation we have talked to confirm that a deal have been approved.
The DeBartolo family told reporters that they have received an offer for the franchise that was difficult to refuse and that the sale would be for the best for the team, city and fans of the 49ers. DeBartolo did not want to tell price of the deal or the identity of the new owner. The only thing he was willing to say about the new owner was that he was sure that everybody in San Francisco would be pleasantly surprised.
A press conference with the new owner will be held tomorrow at the 49ers HQ.

The 49ers are one of the most successful franchises in American sport with an estimated value close to $600mil. Last year under the control of new GM T Northwood they finished the 7-9 outside the playoff.

From: Bart.Finch @ 49ers.com

What the F#%& is this supposes to mean? Did you know about this and kept me out of the loop? Why haven’t I been told? Do I still have a job tomorrow?

½ hour ago we had to call the police and ask them to come and clearer the parking lot in front of the practise field for angry fans. They have heard rumours that we are moving to Las Vegas!! They realy don’t like to be kept in the dark. And neither do I.

What do you want me to tell the players? I realy hope the front office knows what they are doing. If this doesn’t turn out right it will destroy our chances to get the Lombardi Trophy back to San Francisco in a long time.

This is the report for the owners (whoever if might be).

Roster report for the San Francisco 49ers 2003:

At the moment we have 35 players under contract. That’s a bit low and means that we have to pick up almost 20 players in the off-season. We got a better television deal then expected and that means that the cap went up $7.7 mil to $82.7 mil. That means that we are more then $15 mil under the cap at the moment. We need to save $4.25 mil to sign our draft picks and that leaves us with $11.28 mil for new players. Arizona will properly be the biggest spenders in this off-season. They have close to $30 mil to spend on new players. 7 teams need to cut players or renegotiates contracts just to be able to sign the draft picks. I talked to a guy last night and he said that Dallas was very close to land the deal with the Colts and Peyton Manning. That will cost them a lot of draft picks because the $18 mil they are under the cap will not take them a long way in this deal.
Our main concern will be to help the O-line and find a few new WR to help Garcia and Terrell.
Last year 36 players started a game for the SF 49ers. Only 8 players started all 16 games.

Have you talked to Karl Martinez? You know his contract is out. I think he did a nice job as defensive coordinator this year. Will we try to re-sign him or do the new owners have other plans ???

I will have a look at the new schedule tomorrow. It looks fine. We play home against the Rams in week 17. I’m already looking forward to that game.

Call me as soon as you read this mail.

Montana / Lott back in town

Maybe the DeBartolo family was right when they told us that this deal was for the best of everybody. All fears of the future off the San Francisco 49ers franchise was blown away when it was announced today that the new owners is no other then Joe Montana and Ronny Lott.
They made all the promises the fans wanted to hear. They guarantied that the team belonged in San Francisco and that it would never move as long as they were in control and any plans of moving to Las Vegas was denied.
The newest rumour in the eNFL says that the newly crowned eSuper Bowl Champs Oakland Raiders is looking in to he possibility of moving the franchise back to Los Angeles.
Montana and Lott reviled plans to build a brand new stadium in San Francisco with a capacity of 75.000 to replace the old one from 1961. The new stadium will have 2.200 club seats and 200 luxury boxes. It will also have a retractable roof (a good thing considering last years rain game record) and grass turf. If approved the new stadium will be ready for the 2009 season and come with a price tag of close to $700 mil. The new owner has put forward a financing plan including a large contribution by the team.
Perhaps most important to all fans of the 49ers they assured that their primary goal was to take the 49ers back to past glory and back to the Super Bowl.
Montana / Lott confirmed that GM T Northwood who had disappointing 7-9 record in his first season as GM for the 49ers will stay in charge of the team. He will be running the team on the daily basis and will also be the one taking all decisions regarding the roster, FA and the upcoming draft.
All the financial details of the deal are still not known. The value of the franchise is estimated to be around $550.000.000. It’s currently ranked as the 11th most valuable franchise in the eNFL. The new ownership will go under the name Montana-Lott Inc. Its still not known who helped them put up the money to purchase the team. Most experts believe a group of local businessmen from the bay-arrear is behind the purchase. More information will properly be made available in the weeks to come.

eNFL Update:

The new owner duo of the San Francisco 49ers has just made their first major signing. Earlier today they announced that the contract with defensive coordinator Karl Martinez have been renewed for another 3 years. The deal makes him the second highest paid D-coordinator in the eNFL. Only Atlanta Falcons new defensive coordinator Dan Branch got a better deal.

SF49er GM T Northwood told reporters that Karl Martinez was the only coordinator the 49ers front office had talked to and that he was the only man on their wanted-list. With close to 20 new players on the roster in the upcoming season it was important to San Francisco to get a person that knew the system.

The story on the future of Peyton Manning has now taken a new twist. The latest stories indicated that he was on his way to Dallas but with the Cowboys coming in to the off season with only 26 players under contract they properly need there draft picks and cap money other places. The newest twist point in the direction of New Orleans. They have a lot of empty cap space and come in to the off-season with a reasonable roster seize (36 players under contract). At the same time sources close to the eNFL indicates that Aaron Brooks is on the way out. If that’s the case it will cost the Saints almost $8.0 mil in cap hit because of Brooks bonus and his new team will look at a salary of $22.5 mil over the next 4 years.

It will be very interesting to see what kind of contract he will get. At the moment the highest paid player in the eNFL is not a QB. The player with the biggest payday in 2004 is the Titans DE Kevin Carter. He will make $9.00 in base salary this year. With $2.78 mil bonus money his total cap cost is $11.78 mil. Manning’s agent has indicated that his request be around $75 mil over 6 years.

Player with highest cap cost in 2004
Pos – Name- Team – Salary – Bonus - Total
QB Steve McNair – TEN - $6.75 - $4.02 = $10.77 mil
RB Marshall Faulk – STL - $6.0 - $1.53 = $7.53 mil
FB Tony Richardson – KCY - $2.65 - $.077 = $3.42 mil
TE Marcus Pollard – IND - $2.53 - $1.51$ = $4.04 mil
WR Randy Moss – MIN - $6.07 - $2.81 = $8.88 mil
C Barret Robbins – OAK - $4.25 - $0.95 = $5.2 mil
G Leonard Davis – DEN - $6.02 - $0 = $6.02 mil
T Orlando Pace – STL - $5.88 – $3.01 = $8.89 mil
DE Kevin Carter – TEN - $9.00 - $2.78 = $11.78 mil
DT Bryant Young – SFO - $4.25 - $2.93 = $7.18 mil
ILB Brian Urlacher – CHI - $3.80 - $2.41 = $6.21 mil
OLB Derrick Brooks – TBY - $5.50 – $3.16 = 8.66 mil
CB Ty Law – NED – $6.76 – $2.70 = $9.46 mil
S Mike Minter – CAR - $3.60 - $1.84 = $5.44 mil
*****************************************
Total cost $103.48 mil

New rules in the eNFL.

The rules comity in the eNFL decided last night to declare all new contracts made with scouts, coordinators and coaches in week one invalid. At the same time they decided to introduce new rules regulating the staff hiring in the eNFL. The new rule will put a limit on spending on staff contracts for all teams in the eNFL and will prevent the bidding process to get out of hand. Several different solutions were suggested by the owners and GMs in the league. The solution chosen was the easiest to administrate and the most fair for all teams.
With immediate effect it’s decided that a teams combined salary for scouts, coordinators and coach may not exceed 10% of the total salary cap. That means that the max amount allowed for staff this year is $8.270.000.

With defensive coordinator Karl Martinez’s new contract declared invalid the 49ers now need to get back out on the market and securer a new deal and it looks like they will have plenty of dollars to spend.

San Francisco 49ers staff cost 2004
Code:
Max staff salary cost $8.270.000 Scout Josh Lewis $170.000 (4 year contract / a,g,g,g,p,g,g,g,a) Hd. Coach Bart Finch $1.400.000 (2 year contract / vg,a,a,g,vg) Off Coord Dwight Scogin $850.000 (1 year contract / g,a,vg,e,vg,g) Total cost $2.420.000 Staff Cap available $5.850.000

We have been in contact with the 49ers front office this morning but nobody wants to comment on who will be the new defensive coordinator in San Francisco. They did say that they think that the new rule was a good and necessary step to take for the eNFL and that it would be interesting to see how other teams decided to work with the new rule.

Another GM turn over the keys

A strange trend has started among GMs in the eNFL. Normally a GM decides to step back if his team perform badly over a period of time. But in the eNFL it looks like only GMs from successful teams decide to call it a day. Earlier the GMs of Tamper Bay and St Louis has left their teams. The last prove of this trend is the GM of the Miami Dolphins. Mr. Icy informed on a press conference today that his service would no longer be available for the Miami team. This will be a huge setback for a Dolphins team that comes of a fantastic season. As first seeded in the eAFC they were upset by eSuper Bowl champs Oakland in the playoff but Mr. Icy did a great job to get the team that fare.

Quot from press conference
Code:
I have enjoyed a lot this league and wish you all tons of fun, I will keep coming from time to time to see how things are going and of course I will keep visiting FOFC but not posting a lot. My best wishes for all you and I hope that you can get a great GM for my loved Dolphins. Regards Icy

San Francisco wishes Icy good luck and congratulation on the big event.

People close to the team say that Dan Marino accepted the job as GM only to quit a few hours later and that he now has new business cards with the text “Only undefended GM in the eNFL”

Miami Dolphins is still looking for a new GM.

In our next edition we will bring a full update on the eNFL staff-hiring period.

eNFL staff hiring period now over

With the FA period starting in a few days now is the time to take a look at what happen in the staff-hiring period this off-season in the eNFL.

Most people in San Francisco expected the 49ers to go back and resign defensive coordinator Karl Martinez again after the first contract was declared invalid due to the new eNFL staff-cap rule. Therefore it was a big surprise when Montana/Lott and Northwood introduced Deron Hughes as the new defensive coordinator in San Francisco this morning. Deron Hughes has signed a 2year deal worth $2.90 mil. He spent last year as defensive coordinator for the Philadelphia Eagles making them the 5th best defense in the league. Deron Hughes will come with a good reputation (f,g,g,vg,a) and hopefully help them improve last years result.

San Francisco has only spent $3.87 mil of the $8 mill staff cap this year.

The biggest winner in this year’s staff hiring must be Green Bay Packers Hd. Coach Bart Myers. Facing the risk of loosing him to another team the Green Bay front office decided to pay him a record $33.2 million over 5 years. That’s a stunning $6.64 mil pr year for a coach.

It now looks like this deal will hurt the Packers more then just financially. An early report indicates that Green Bay is over the allowed staff-cap ($8.27 mil) with this signing. It looks like somebody in the front office forgot to add the scout salary and that might now cost the Packers a draft pick. The eNFL has still not made a comment or ruling in the case.

Six new Hd. Coaches will be in charge this season. The youngest will be Adrian Gordon (MIA) and new coach Lester Bell (CIN) both 37years old and in the other end we find the Hd. Coaches for Seattle (new) and Atlanta with 63years.

Buffalo, Chicago and St Louis have changed their entire coaching staff.

Karl Martinez has moved on to Cincinnati and will be their defensive coordinator for the next 3 years.

Its very surprising that Korey Lowe who helped Tamper Bay to a 11-4-1 record last year will be without a job this season. A lot of teams will properly kick themselves for not picking him up as Hd. Coach (g,g,g,g,vg) this season. Expect to see him get a huge contract next year.

Next week its time for the managers to take a final decision regarding franchising players this year. A few GMs has been out in advance and told the press who would be tagged. But expected a few surprises when the final list is made available the 03feb.

Designated franchise players

The final list of players hit with the franchise tag is ready. Most of the names were known from before but a few new names also turned up on the list. At the moment Peyton Manning is the only one of the seven that will end up on a new team. The rest will properly renegotiate their contracts later in the FA stage.

I know that you still have doubts if we made the right decision to franchise Chidi Ahanotu, but I am absolutely sure it was a smart move.

At least five teams need a new DE this season and it looks like only 4 or 5 players from the draft will be good enough to make the starting line-up this season. If Chidi Ahanotu had entered the FA-pole he would have been among the top 5-10 players overall in free agency and the best available DE together with Marco Coleman from Houston. Andre Carter is still not ready to be a full time starter this season and that means that we are one of the teams looking for a DE.

Either we would have used a draft pick or tried to match the other teams offers in FA. We could easily have ended up spending the same amount of cap money on that move, as we will on Chidi Ahanotu when we have renegotiated his contract.

Chidi and Andre will sharer the RDE position with Chidi playing run defence and Andre the pass. John Engelberger will move up and be the starting LDE this season.

And if nothing else then the fact that Chidi Ahanotu is one of the biggest fan favourites in San Francisco should be enough reason to keep him on the team.

At the moment we only have $4.26 mil to spend on new players in FA. We have already talked to a few agents about some of the contracts and the possibility to free up some cap space. Especially the talk with Garrison Hearst looks promising. That deal alone can save us more then $2.0 mil.

First look a t 2004 draft class

This is the first look of the draft class of 2004. I don’t think that the GMs in the eNFL are very impressed with what they see. Especially the offensive players look very bleak this year. The QBs look very average and the WRs look even worse. The first QB and WR will be properly not be drafted until mid to late in the first round. Dallas is properly one of the few teams likely to select a QB with an early pick but their #6 pick is way to high for the QBs in this draft.
It also looks like that only one single WR will be drafted in the first round. The rest of the class is simply below average. I will be surprised if any of the WR in this draft will ever be in the Top-20 in the eNFL.

We hope to be able to make a short presentation of the top prospect in the daft in a few days. Our eNFL analysts are also currently working on the first eNFL mock draft and hope to have that ready tomorrow.

SPECIAL EDITION

We are now ready with our first mock draft. This is what we think teams would pick if the draft started today. With the number of trades this season a lot of teams will properly have different needs when we reach draft day.

Code:
eNFL 2004 Mock Draft -- Take 1
Pick Team Pos. Player College Grd 40 Vol
1 CB J.C Ribich Wake Forest  7.6 4.32 3
Its also very possible that the Panthers trade down a select G / Perry Dunkin with a lower pick
2 OLB Geoff Consulo Miami,F 7.5 4.47 86
OLB is realy not their primary goal but Geoff might just be too good to let go.
3 DE Herb Shelton Fort Hays 6.8 4.84 93
Cincinnati will desperately hope that J.C Ribich fall into their turban but the properly need to look for something else and Shelton is not a bad alternative.
4 ILB Zach Ashmore Oregon S 6.4 4.65 39
Finally an easy pick. This can be a huge upgrade for the Cleveland defence. The only thing keeping him for stardom is his size (5`8 232).
5 FS Desmond Wolfe Oregon S 6.3 4.52 91
This realy depends on what Arizona decide to do in FA with all their free cap money but Wolf still got potential to beat all safeties in available in FA. Also the second defensiv player from Oregon St. drafted in Top-5.
6 LT Colin Rogers Kansas 6.5 5.10 11
Dallas got a lot of picks this year. They were looking to trade up and grab a stud QB or WR. Now they must look in other directions. Colin Rogers will be an instant upgrade.
7 G Perry Dunkin Illinois 7.4 4.84 92
You properly don’t want to draft a guard with the #7 overall pick, but this time it may not be that bad a deal.
8 WR Rodney Noblitt

Liberty

5.1 4.41 36
Seattle can be the first team to pick an offensive player in this year’s draft and it will still be a reach.
9 CB Courtney Francis Miami, F

6.0

4.43 10
They need help at CB and Courtney Francis can provide just that.
10 RB Irv O`Leary UNLV 6.1 4.52 67
One of the best developed players in the draft (80%). Its possible that he will not stay on the board this long but the Vikings might get lucky.
11 S Eugene Sims Duke 6.1 4.44 45
With only one safety under contract the Redskins can definitely need some help in this department.
12 DT Kendall Lorz Boston C

6.2

4.92 93
With only two NT under contract and nothing to find in FA this is a must for the Patriots.
13 DE Dwight Hammond Texas AM 6.1 4.73 53
The Ravens will be lucky if they can pick up this guy with a #13 pick but Ravens realy need a DE.
14 G Jumbo McCarney E Carolina 5.2 5.06 58
The 49ers needs WR and G. With no WR on the board for another 5-10 picks, Jumbo looks like a nice upgrade.
15 RB Rico Carr Oregon S 5.5 4.54 49
This might not be what they hoped for but it’s the best they can get. This is another RB nicely developed (70%).
16 CB Donnell Weber Auburn 5.1 4.46 53
This pick is easy. This strong guy (Strg 23) will be a starter for the Jaguars this year.
17 DE Christian Clancy Notre Dame 5.5 4.72 2
This is the Seahawks second pick in the first round. They will be the first and only team to pick up a Notre Dame player in the first round.
18 WR Stan Robbins Kansas St 4.8 4.39 23
This will give Peerless Price some much needed help. Stan Robbins will need to show something special at the college workout if he wants to be the first WR drafted this year.
19 DT Bart Elgar Fresno S

5.5

4.83 34
The Colts need to get back to earth after their huge trades in the first week in FA. They need to start looking at the defence.
20 QB Jason Bruce Northeastern St 5.1 4.72 6
Buffalo is one of the teams that can afford to gamble on Jason Bruce. He is the best QB in the draft is only 12% developed and a lot of people expect to see him bust.
21 ILB Everett Hampton Rutgers 5.4 4.74 65
With one of the best offences on the eNFL, Kansas will follow the trend and pick a defensive player in the first round this year.
22 TE Buddy Lannon Louisiana S 6.8 4.75 55
Ranked 5th overall in the draft this is a pretty safe pick for the Bears.
23 T Ethan Dawkins Duke 4.8 5.35 2
The Saints need someone to look after their new star and Ethan Dawkins will be just the right man for that job.
24 G Benjamin Cribbs Pittsburgh 4.5 5.19 67
The Rams have started the rebuilding process after the Warner trade and Benjamin Cribbs can be the first stone.
25 QB Warren Sunia Florida 4.7 4.64 7
Everybody in New York still remember what happened when Kerry Collins went down with injury last season.
26 FB Britt Llewellyn Tulsa 5.2 4.67 90
What’s up with that name?? The Titans will properly not have cap space to sign him anyway.
27 G Sammy Hodges W Virginia 4.4 5.02 52
Tamper don’t have a lot of big holes in their depth chart. They can afford to take some chances with this pick.
28 WR Lance Sinard W Washington 4.3 4.56 41
With Isaac Bruce in Minnesota the Rams need a new partner for Torry Holt.
29 RT Bubba Craig Henderson St 4.8 5.23 76
If he is not available this late in the draft they properly continue down the list and draft another T.
30 OLB Bucky White Rutgers

5.0

4.70 21
This is one of the places the Packers need some help. Their current LBs are among the worst in the league.
31 ILB Mitch Vick Arizona St 5.2 4.75 27
This is properly the only player left in the draft with a chance of a starting job in Philadelphia this season.
32 FS Troy Taft Mississippi St   6.1 4.52 84
With Rod Woodson retired this is a must for the Raiders. If he is no longer available their will still be a few other good safeties on the board for Oakland to pick.

Good call on my Colts needing a DT. Though i think my defense will surprise some this year. Its mostly set with good players, they were just all young and under developed last year, though this is still the case this year in a couple positions, especially with no worthwhile DT on the market.

SPECIAL EDITION

QB

#1
Name: Jason Bruce
College: Northeastern St, OK
Grade: 5.1
Adjst: 5.8
Dash: 4.72
Sole: 39
Strg: 9
Agil: 7.87
Vol: 6
Develop: 12%
This is the best ranked QB in this year’s draft. I realy don’t like what he has to show. The team that pick him must wait at least one or two season for him to develop in to a starter. He is one of the tallest QBs in the draft but definitely not the strongest. His running times were very average. At the combine he showed nice skills in passes between 11-30yds but was only average in accuracy.
Projected pick: 20

#2
Name: Warren Sunia
College: Florida
Grade: 4.7
Adjst: 5.4
Dash: 4.64
Sole: 37
Strg: 10
Agil: 7.56
Vol: 7
Develop: 26%
Another QB with a very low volatility. He is a bit better developed then Jason Bruce but don’t have as big an upside. Looks like he have a problem hanging on to the ball and passes between 11-20yds. Great timing and short passes.
Projected pick: 25

#3
Name: Sherman Fogarty
College: Mississippi
Grade: 4.3
Adjst: 4.9
Dash: 4.77
Sole: 27
Strg: 10
Agil: 8.04
Vol: 79
Develop: 11%
Only 11% developed he is the lowest developed player among the top 10 QBs in this years draft. He is small (5`10) and didn’t do him self any favours in any of the test at the pro-day. He is not ranked in the top ten among QBs in any category.
Projected pick: 2-3 round

Look out for:
Glen Tucker from San Diego State. He is definitely an AAA player. He ranks first in both Strg and Agil (22 / 7.30) and is the best developed QB in the draft (51%). His scouting report doesn’t look that good, but this can very well be a sleeper ready to step up.

RB

#1
Name: Irv O`Leary
College: UNLV
Grade: 6.1
Adjst: 6.5
Dash: 4.52
Sole: 24
Strg: 26
Agil: 7.18
Vol: 67
Develop: 80%
This guy looks like a top-10 pick. An impresiv 80% developed make him a safe pick for a lot of teams. This is another AAA player and he clocks in as the fastest and strongest RB in the draft. He got great speed boath inside and outside and can also catch the ball. He rankes low in elusiveness and can have a problem getting downfield.
Projected pick: 10

#2
Name: Rico Carr
College: Oregon State
Grade: 5.5
Adjst: 5.8
Dash: 4.54
Sole: 19
Strg: 22
Agil: 7.21
Vol: 49
Develop: 70%
Rico posted almost identical preformences in the combine as O`Leary. He is just as strong and fast and also nicely developed. He dident do very well in the Sole-test and have a problem getting around on the outside. He will se a lot of action this year.
Projected pick: 15

#3
Name: Kendrick Albriktsen
College: Texas Tech
Grade: 4.9
Adjst: 5.2
Dash: 4.7
Sole: 24
Strg: 16
Agil: 7.31
Vol: 69
Develop: 76%
This player is ranked 3rd very much due to his achiments this year with Texas Tech. Now he trys to get in to the eNFL and his shortcomings will be displayed for all to see them. He is to small, to slow and just not strong enough to be a top eNFL RB. He could get away with it in college because of his great elusiveness but that will not help him against the big guys of the eNFL. His skills in kick returning will be an extra bounus for the teams drafting him.
Projected pick: 2nd round

Look out for:
Danny Brant looks a lot better then Kendrick Albriktsen at first look. He is one of three RBs from Oregon State in this year’s draft (they also got three WR but no QB). His biggest problem is getting downfield and holding on to the ball. A team not afraid to draft a player with a 93 volatility can get a geat player herer.

FB

#1
Name: Britt Llewellyn
College: Tulsa
Grade: 5.2
Adjst: 4.2
Dash: 4.67
Sole: 28
Strg: 23
Agil: 7.32
Vol: 90
Develop: 52%
A very complet FB. He can do it all and have no weekneses. He is very strong and fast and will got well developed blocking skills. He will also get a lot of chances on third down running.
Projected pick: 26

#2
Name: Deion Kurpeikis
College: Stanford
Grade: 4.1
Adjst: 3.3
Dash: 4.82
Sole: 29
Strg: 21
Agil: 7.51
Vol: 15
Develop: 48%
This lookes like a very average FB. In some categoris he just looks fantastic but in others he stink. He got great skills in third down catching but a huge problem holding on to it. He is a good pass and run blocker but have very little blocking strength.
Projected pick: 3rd round

#3
Name: Peter Javis
College: Iowa
Grade: 4.1
Adjst: 3.3
Dash: 4.74
Sole: 23
Strg: 22
Agil: 7.41
Vol: 86
Develop: 60%
He is ranked 3rd amoung FB but will defenetly be drafted before Deion Kurpeikis. He don’t have the highes and lows that Deion Kurpeikis has but is a mutch more complet player. The only arrear wherer he needs help is in pass blocking.
Projected pick: 2nd round

TE

#1
Name: Buddy Lannon
College: Louisiana State
Grade: 6.8
Adjst: 5.9
Dash: 4.75
Sole: 29
Strg: 26
Agil: 7.29
Vol: 55
Develop: 41%
In the top-3 amoung TE in all three physical tests. Has the 5th highest rating in the intirer draft. Acording to most scouts Buddy Lannon will be rated obove 50 in all catagories. Can also be used as a long snapper.
Projected pick: 22

#2
Name: Damon Bongiovanni
College: Iowa
Grade: 6.7
Adjst: 5.8
Dash: 4.67
Sole: 29
Strg: 26
Agil: 7.15
Vol: 66
Develop: 48%
Second TE in the top-10 overall ranking this year. He is currently a bit better developed then Buddy Lannon and was the best TE in all physical tests. His only problem is that he got butter fingers and drop a lot of balls.
Projected pick: 2nd round

#3
Name: Arnold Danson
College: Stanford
Grade: 4.5
Adjst: 3.9
Dash: 4.75
Sole: 31
Strg: 18
Agil: 7.25
Vol: 84
Develop: 30%
Just not the same league as the first two. His problem is seize. He is the ligthest TE in the draft with only 223 pounds. That clerly showes in his lack of blocking strength. He trys to compensate with speed and iss very fast down field.
Projected pick: 3-4 round

WR

#1
Name: Rodney Noblitt
College: Liberty
Grade: 5.1
Adjst: 5.3
Dash: 4.41
Sole: 18
Strg: 15
Agil: 6.96
Vol: 36
Develop: 52%
We are looking at another AAA player. A big strong guy with a lot of speed. He is blessed with very good hands and never drops or fumbles the ball. He can get down field and can run his routs. We will need to learn to adjust to the ball better then he can today. A few scouts is a bit wooryd over his low scorre in the Sole. test but who difficult can it bee to read and sign a contract and deliver it on time.
Projected pick: Top-10

#2
Name: Stan Robbins
College: Kansas State
Grade: 4.8
Adjst: 5.0
Dash: 4.39
Sole: 29
Strg: 14
Agil: 6.94
Vol: 23
Develop: 40%
Stan Robbins is only 5-10, 189 pounds and is not the now so poplarer power-WR. He compensated with speed and recorded the second fastest time amoung all players time in the combine in Indianapolis this week. He still need to work on a few things. He was spotted in the Reebook room trying on new gloves in an attempt solw his drop/fumble-problem.
Projected pick: 18

#3
Name: Lance Sinard
College: Western Washington
Grade: 4.3
Adjst: 4.5
Dash: 4.56
Sole: 29
Strg: 12
Agil: 7.28
Vol: 41
Develop: 42%
A special teams specialist with abov average skills. He is not the guy you will go to with the game on the line, but his skills in adjusting to the ball will help him pull down a few extra balls.
Projected pick: 28

Very nice, Northwood. As the 'league idiot,' my Cowboys staff and I will take all your hard work and maybe not screw up all our picks.

Subject: First week in FA
From: Bart.Finch @ 49ers.com

I think we had a pretty good week in the first week of FA. We managed to renegotiate a few deals to create better room under the cap and we also managed to sign new deals with a few of our restricted free agents.

Our franchise player Chidi Ahanotu counted for $7.02 mil on the cap when he got the tag. Now we have been able to sign a more cap-friendly deal. Now he will only cost us $3.5 mil on the cap this year. The deal is worth $15mil over 3 years.

We have also reached a deal with Garrison Hearst. Instead of $3.50 mil he will now only count $1.25mil on the cap.

That gave us some cap room to work with. We then signed the following players to one or two year deals with low salaries and no bonus.

WR Jim Bromley $400.000, 1 year
RT Stanley Jennings $400.000, 1 year
ILB Walt Morrissey $380.000, 1 year
FS Walt Bankston $1.0 mil, 2 years

We also signed QB Harry Curtis to a two-year $2.18mil deal with a $0.5 mil signing bonus. We only had two QBs under contract (Garcia and Rattay) and Curtis looked like the best in FA and he knows our system (started 4 games last year due to Garcia injury). That was of cause before Seattle decided to release Matt Hasselbeck. Interesting to see if they have a big deal under way or if they will use the #8 pick in the draft to pick Jason Bruce or Warren Sunia.

With these new signings we now got 41 players under contract for the upcoming season. Add 7 from the draft and a punter and we only need a few extra players before going in to training camp. We still got $7.7mil to spend on new players under the cap.

San Diego can now be in some trouble. They only got $8 mil to use on new signings and only 28 players under contract. Minnesota got 29 players under contract but plenty of cap money to spend, and Dallas has a zillion draft picks to add to their current 26-man roster.

Tennessee cleared a lot of cap this weeks to get them self under the $82.7 mil. But they still got work to do. They got only £80.000 to spend on new players and 38 players ready for next year. They got 9 players with more then $2.5 mil in cap cost with Steve McNair on the top with a $10.77 mil cap hit this season. More then $8 mil in lost cap room this season also makes the picture look dark.

Dallas leads the teams in the eNFL with more then $25mil in lost cap space this season.

New York and Miami also need to work the cap in the next weeks. Booth teams got less room under the cap then what it will cost to sign the draft picks.

Arizona is still on the top of cap available with more then $34 mil to spend in FA. This week they only signed a few of their own players from last year to new contracts. They tried to sign RB Stacey Mack but lost out to the Saints. And Arizona needs a new RB. This week they decided to release 15year veteran Emmitt Smith. A sad ending to a great career (if he is not picked up by another team??)

The big spender this weeks was Buffalo. They signed CB Shawn Springs to a 5years, $24.21 mil ($5.4mil bonus) deal and RG Bob Hallen also for 5 years and $25.21 mil ($5.5 mil bonus). Those two players will count for almost $8.0 mil on this year’s cap.

Only 10 players signed in the first week of FA with New Orleans picking up 4 of the players.

#1
Name: Monty Rountree

Grade: 5.5
Adjst: 4.7
Dash: 5.12
Sole: 32
Strg: 30
Agil: 7.75
Vol: 39
Develop: 22%
Moving on to the O-line most scouts was a bit disappointed with what they saw. Monty is around the top-5 in all tests and is a very big guy. Especially his 7.75 in the agility test impressed a lot. He comes with great skills in run and pass blocking but like the rest of the centres in this years draft lacking the strength.
Projected pick: 2nd round

#2
Name: Lamar Grauman
College: Pittsburgh
Grade: 5.4
Adjst: 4.6
Dash: 5.11
Sole: 36
Strg: 24
Agil: 7.80
Vol: 8
Develop: 33%
Lamar comes a bit more developed then Monty. On the other hand is he missing even more in strength due to his lack of seize. He got very good endurance and can properly be used as a long snapper as well.
Projected pick: Mid-late 2nd round

#3
Name: Kelly Neitring
College: Arkansas State
Grade: 4.9
Adjst: 4.2
Dash: 5.20
Sole: 47
Strg: 29
Agil: 7.83
Vol: 92
Develop: 35%
Kelly is a very smart guy. He came in 11 overall in the Solecismic test with 47 points. He also did well in both the bench press and agil test. He is rated as 35% developed and that is the highest among the top-3 prospects at centre.
Projected pick: Late 2nd round

G

#1
Name: Perry Dunkin
College: Illinois
Grade: 7.4
Adjst: 7.1
Dash: 4.84
Sole: 23
Strg: 33
Agil: 7.61
Vol: 92
Develop: 33%
This guy has all chances of becoming a super star in the eNFL. He will most likely be one of the top-5 guards in the league. He has perfect scouting reports in all categories and scored well above average in all tests in the combine. A few scouts have raised a question with his high volatility but most teams will not let that be a factor. He has been projected to be drafted as high as #4 but will according to most experts fall a bit down the list in the weeks up to the draft.
Projected pick: 5 to 10

#2
Name: Jumbo McCarney
College: East Carolina
Grade: 5.2
Adjst: 4.9
Dash: 5.06
Sole: 34
Strg: 28
Agil: 7.71
Vol: 58
Develop: 43%
The quality-drop to the second best player in this position is huge. Jumbo is not close to match the skills Perry Dukin can present. He is tall and heavy but still misses a lot of blocking strength. He is rated as a better pass blocker then run blocker. Did not finish in the top-4 among guards in any category. Roomers talk about possible bust.
Projected pick: 15 to 20

#2
Name: Benjamin Cribbs
College: Pittsburgh
Grade: 4.5
Adjst: 4.3
Dash: 5.19
Sole: 29
Strg: 31
Agil: 7.74
Vol: 67
Develop: 25%
This is another big guy (6-6 / 322). He showed good strength at the combine tests but like Jumbo, blocking strength can be a problem. Some scouts have rated him below Sammy Hodges in mock drafts.
Projected pick: Second round

#1
Name: Colin Rogers
College: Kansas
Grade: 6.5
Adjst: 7.2
Dash: 5.10
Sole: 20
Strg: 35
Agil: 7.58
Vol: 11
Develop: 49%
Rated in the top-2 in all the physical tests for the tackles, Colin Rogers will be off the board very fast. 49% developed, low volatility and fantastic scout reports all pull in the direction of a top-5 pick. With above average skills in all categories he is a typical AAA player and is one of 10 players from Kansas in this year’s draft.
Projected pick: Top 5

#2
Name: Ethan Dawkins

Grade: 4.8
Adjst: 5.3

Develop: 33%
From Aiea Hawaii Ethan Dawkins is the only player to represents Duke in this year’s draft. Rated as the second best tackle in the draft he ran a disappointing 40-dash and also scored low on the Solecismic test. At only 283 pounds he is one of the smallest tackles in the draft.
Projected pick: Late first round

#3
Name: Bubba Craig
College: Henderson State
Grade: 4.8
Adjst: 5.3
Dash: 5.23

Develop: 44%
A good pass blocker with no obvious weaknesses. He is not the fastest or strongest guy but will hide a lot of his flaws being a very smart player. Already 44% developed he will properly see some action this season if training camp turn out as expected for him.
Projected pick: Mid to late first round

Subject: Second week in FA
From: Bart.Finch @ 49ers.com

The second week in FA was pretty slow for us. We didn’t make any new signings and we only await answer for one offer. We need a new punter and the Eagles try to upgrade. The target for both teams is the best punter in FA, Miami’s Mark Royals. Philadelphia now got the highest bid with $2.73mil. We have to see if we want to raise the bid or if we will go after the best P in the draft Irv Forbes. At least five other teams will be looking for a new punter and only two can be found in the draft.

The big story this week was of cause the blockbuster deal between our division rivals Seattle and St Louise. Just take a look at this press release.

Quote
In a stunning trade today, the Rams acquired OLB Anthony Simmons from division rival Seattle. They gave up 2 first round picks in the upcoming draft, a 4th round pick in the 2005 draft, and two players - Tommy Polley and Andy McCollum.
End quote

This move gives Seattle and amazing 4 picks (8,17,24 and 28) in the first round of this year’s draft. St Louis GM Pyser explained the logic behind the trade in a press conference earlier today.

Quote
"First off, this completes our off-season 'firesale'. We had been looking to move both first round picks for some time now, and after reviewing the 2004 draft class, we felt we could get more value out of the picks by trading them for current, proven players, than we could with 2 players who, lets face it, would almost certainly be backups.

"As for the players we moved, Tommy Polley was in the final year of his contract, and negotiations hadn't gone too well with him. With the earlier acquisition of MLB E.J. Henderson, as well as now getting Simmons, We had 6 starting quality linebackers. This trade gives us great flexibility in the linebacking corps...Simmons will certainly start, and the other 2 positions will be fought over by 4 players. Tommy was caught in a numbers crunch.

"Last years defensive rookie of the year, according to Solecismic, Pisa Tinoisamoa, will battle alongside Henderson, Duncan (85 tackles, 2 sacks), and Robert Thomas to start. We absolutely believe we have significantly upgraded the weakest position on last years team."

Andy McCollum only had value to us a mentor to guards. With the moves this off-season, we don't really have a need for a mentor at that position, and he had no chance to start. His salary was burning a hole in an already tight cap. Had he not been included in the deal, chances are good he would have been cut.

"I hope that helps explain our decision-making process a bit more. It's always tough to trade inside your own division, but this team is built to win now, and you simply cannot pass up a chance to acquire the game's best outside linebacker, according to our scout."
End quote

15 players signed in this weeks FA. LT Solomon Page from San Diego landed the biggest deal when he signed for $26.2mil over 5years with Buffalo. $5.6 mil is in garantied bonus money.

The best player available in FA right now is RDE Marco Coleman from Houston. He will properly sign a deal worth close to $8.5 mil. Matt O`Dwyer RG from the Bengal’s also look like he will get a nice check in the next few weeks. He has been offered a contract worth more then $18.0 mil for 4 years.

Most teams have been very active in the first weeks of FA but we also see a few teams with little or no activity.
Houston has only signed a new Hd. Coach and coordinator until now and San Diego a Hd. Coach. The new GM in Miami has only reached to sign a new Off. Coordinator. It has been very quiet from the Jets, Giants and Redskins. They are all still waiting to make their first moves in this years FA.

Subject: week 3 in FA
From: Bart.Finch @ 49ers.com

The FA market is now slowing down. This week 19 players decided where to play next season. The biggest signings this week was Marco Coleman RDE from Houston that will dress up for the Vikings for the next two years. Indianapolis RT Adam Meadows has signed a $9.5 mil deal with the Jaguars.

A few former San Francisco players have now signed for new clubs. Our punter Bill LaFleur has agreed on a 3-year deal with rivals Seattle. They will pay him $2.51 mil. LCB Jason Webster has moved across the bay. He will spend the next three years (last year voidable) as a Raider. Tai Streets is still undecided. He got five different offers and it looks like he will end up with a 3-year deal worth around $4.0 mil.

The new GM in Miami had a pretty busy first week in the office. His first decision was to cut QB Brian Griese, K Olindo Mare and WR Derrius Thompson. They will all have to wait to sign new contracts until the second FA stage after the draft.
Two new FA was then signed to Miami. Five players from last years team got new contracts (RFA) and he renegotiated four other contracts, among them Patrick Surtain for $29.6 mil for 4-years. Surtain now accounts for more then $13mil locked up in bonus money.

We did not change our offer to P Mark Royals this week. He is still available on the market and we need to take a second look if we want to match the Eagles offer. That will cost us around $2.75 mil.

We changed our offer to Miami punter Mark Royals one more time to match the offer form the Eagles. The offer now stands at $2.80 mil for two years with $0.52 mil in bonus money. He decided not to accept it and therefore we withdraw the offer and start looking in other directions. We will try to get Chris Gardocki from Cleveland instead. We can hopefully sign him to a three years deal for the same we offered Mark Royals but with no bonus money. It’s a slight drop in quality but still better then what we had last year.

Only 13 players signed in FA this week. The Vikings and the Colts made biggest signings. Minnesota locked up a 3-year deal with OLB Marcus Washington worth $9.61 mil and the Colts got themselves a RG with the signing of Matt O`Dwyer. The price was $9.00 for three years.

Of the 48 players still undecided only three started all 16 games last season. There is just not a lot of talent left in FA.

We asked our scout to take a look at all our current players. He has got a new computer program that easily let him track every player’s development. We will ask him to check a few times during the season and see if we can pick up any trends.

The first reports looks like this. This is the change in current and future rating from week 1 in 2003 until today.

A lot of players had minor changes (a few points in either direction) but today we concentrate on the big changes. Not a lot of surprises. We knew about Garcia, and it’s a pleasure to see how Kwame Harris (SF first round pick in 2003) is developing. Barlow also improved nicely under guidance from his mentor Garrison Hearst. Kyle Kosier realy need to show something in this off-season if he wants to stay on the team. But what can you expect from
Mr. Nobody deluxe. He was drafted with pick 37 in the 7th round of the 2002 draft. I’m more worried about Tony Parrish.

Subject: week 4 in FA
From: T.Northwood @ 49ers.com

With have just received the latest updates from the FA market. The market is now in free spin. The talent left is so overpriced that we will be better of waiting to after the draft. There is still talent to be found but it comes with a steep price tag. The highest rated (non K/P) is now SS Arturo Freeman from Miami. He sad on the bench all last season behind Sammy Knight. He comes with a 4.3 grade and is now looking on a $8.0 mil deal with Arizona with 5 other teams also in the hunt. Of cause it make sense for Arizona. They have plenty of cap space and will get an instant upgrade on SS, but it also shows just how difficult it is to get value for money in FA.

We decided to drop out of the race for punter Mark Royals. When we pulled out it didn’t take him long to put pen to paper on a deal with the Eagles. He is now in a very elite group of only 4 punters to make more then $1.0 mil in base salary this season. We are still waiting for an answer from Browns punter Chris Gardocki on our offer on a 3-year deal.

We will make an attempt to add another players to our roster in the days to come. I’m afraid I cannot tell you the name, because if got a felling that other people might be reading our mails. I have talked to security and asked them to look in to it.

Tai Streets is no longer a 49er but we will still get to see him twice a year. He decided to sign a 4-year deal with the Rams. He will need to compete with Antwaan Randle El for the empty spot beside Torry Holt. The deal is worth $7.90 mil with the last year voidable if he reaches 1300 receiving yards.

One of the bigger storeys yesterday was the Denver-Tennessee deal. Tennessee got a 3rd round draft pick this year and OLB Ian Gold. Denver will in return get the service from CB Samari Rolle. Denver will get away with only $1.0 in owned bonus money but Tennessee will loss close to $10mil in dead cap next year on this deal. That puts them on the top of the list over teams with lost cap next year with more then $12mil in dead cap space. New Orleans follows close behind with $11.8mil.

lol. Yeah, its a tough market. I made a decision early on to sign Steve Foley at any price, but man what a price it was. But i kept the bonus money fairly low, and will probably model my team around a high turn over concept. We'll see how the years progress.

San Francisco’s first FA signing

A lot of people have wondered if the 49ers front office was asleep and had forgotten all about free agency. Without a single signing in the first 8 weeks there is not a lot left to choose from. But on a press conference today 49ers GM T Northwood presented this year first FA signing for the Bay arrear press. A 14-year veteran that is only 4 month younger then GM Northwood, Chris Gardocki will be the new San Francisco punter for the next three years.
He signed to al contract looking like this:
2004: $880.000
2005: $930.000
2006: $970.000
With no money up front this is a pretty safe deal for the 49ers. They still got more then $6.5 mil to spend on new players in FA. Most analysts in San Francisco expect them to wait until after the eNFL draft before signing more players.

Chris Gardocki played last season in Cleveland. They decided no to offer him a new contract and are now without a punter for the upcoming season.

Chris Gardocki punted 80 times last season for 2933yds (36.6 avg). His longest punt was 56yds and he managed to get 16 of them inside the opponent’s 20yds line.

SS Arturo Freeman finally found a new place to call home. He decided to spend the next two years in Denver where he will make $3.0 mil a year.

The most wanted player now in FA is journeyman Ronney Jenkins. The RB with the great breakaway speed played for booth Miami and Oakland last season and will likely spend 2004 in Tampa Bay.

It looks like Tai Streets has been won the fight with Randle El for the starting job before it got started. Randle El has been switched from SE to FL and will now act as the backup for Torry Holt.

New York Giants has spent some big money in the last few days. The have now renegotiated new contracts with 5 players. The biggest contracts were not surprisingly for Amani Toomer and Kerry Collins. They signed contracts worth $26.25 mil for 5 years and $24.64 mil for 3 years. New York now got more then $28mil locked up in bonus money for those two players alone.

What are a few days in FA without a Seahawks mega-deal? And this week is no different. The deals look like this:

Seattle gets:
2nd and 5th round draft pick from Denver together with RT George Foster (Denver’s first round pick in the 2003 draft).
Denver gets:
5th round pick (2006), RB Shaun Alexander, RG Steve Hutchinson and LT Walter Jones. All three is first round picks for Seattle (2000, 2001 and 1997).

But that was not all from the Seahawks this week. They also negotiated a deal with the Jaguars. Seattle has without any luck tried to renegotiate the contract with Chad Brown in the last couple of weeks. When that was not possible he was sent to Jacksonville in return for a 5th round pick in 2004 and another two 5th round picks in 2005.

All this trading gives the Seahawks an amassing 16 draft picks in the 2004 eNFL draft, with 4 in the first round alone.

Seattle’s draft picks in 2004 draft
Round 1: 4 (8,17,24 and 28)
Round 2: 2 (8 and 17)
Round 3: 1 (17)
Round 4: 2 (5 and 17)
Round 5: 5 (8,16,17,30 and 32)
Round 6: 1 (17)
Round 7: 1 (17)

The latest new form the Panthers indicates that they will not trade the #1 overall pick in this years draft and I still got a feeling they will pick CB C.J. Ribich. But all that can change if Seattle sees anything they like and decide to go for it.

The list of players that will be available in the FA after the draft because they have been released is now getting bigger. The latest name to hit the list is no other then QB legend Vinny Testaverde. Some people speculate if this was a move to make place for new QB from this years daft.

Expect Vinny Testaverde to be picked up by a team with a young and coming QB. As a mentor for other QBs Vinny Testaverdes input can be valuable for a lot of teams.

The rest of the list with released players ready for the second stage of FA looks like this. It’s definitely a lot more interesting then what’s available in pre-draft FA at the moment.

QB Gus Frerotte
QB Brian Griese
QB Matt Hasslebeck
QB Shaun Hill
QB Jon Kitna
QB Vinny Testaverde

RB Michael Pittman
RB Emmitt Smith

FB Charles Stackhouse

TE Mark Bruener
TE Brody Heffner-Liddiard

WR Nate Burleson
WR Nick Davis
WR Keenan Howry
WR Joe Jurevicius
WR Keenan McCardell
WR Derrius Thompson

T Scott Gragg
T Roman Oben
T Todd Weiner

K Olindo Mare

DE Tyoka Jackson
DE Carl Powell

DT James Atkins
DT Billy Lyon
DT John Thornton

ILB Tyreo Harrison

SPECIAL EDITION Part 3

We are now getting closer to the day for the very first eNFL draft ever. With the FA market drained for talent the draft will be a lot of team’s only chance to upgrade their team this season. Most GM will spend the next weeks looking over all the information the can get on the 2004 draft class. Some will also try to apply the latest information available on bust and breakouts to this years draft class. In this walk true we will rate the players as A and A+ players. Where A stands for a player scoring better then one time the standard deviation for their position and A+ better then 1.5 the standard deviation for their position in the following categories 40/Sole/Bench/Agil.
(Read more in this article by Skydog and Tium for more information)
http://dynamic2.gamespy.com/~fof/for...ad.php?t=21765

With all the trades of draft picks we will release an updated mock draft before the draft but first we need to take a look at the strong part of the draft.
We have already been thru the top-3 rated players in every position on the offensive side of the ball and now turn our heads to defensive players in the upcoming eNFL draft. Most experts consider this the strong part of the draft with a lot more depth then on Offense.

DE

#1
Name: Herb Shelton
College: Fort Hays State
Grade: 6.8
Adjst: 7.5
Dash: 4.84
Sole: 50
Strg: 41
Agil: 7.09
Vol: 93
Develop: 58%
59 DE enter this years draft and Herb Shelton is without question the best. He is smart and also on of the strongest players in the entire draft. As 58% developed he will be an instant upgrade for most teams. Scouts are putting two small question marks next to his name. The first because of his high Vol-rating and secondly because of he relatively poor skills in pass rush technique.
Projected pick: Top-10

#2
Name: Dwight Hammond
College: Texas A&M
Grade: 6.1
Adjst: 6.7
Dash: 4.73
Sole: 29
Strg: 30
Agil: 7.24
Vol: 53
Develop: 34%
This is another player showing well above average in all tests at the combine and college workouts. He got all what Shelton missed in pass rush technique and can also play run defence. He doesn’t have the very high potentials in all categories that Herb Shelton can show but he will attract a lot of attention on the first day of the draft.
Projected pick: Top-15

#3
Name: Christian Clancy
College: Notre Dame
Grade: 5.5
Adjst: 6.1
Dash: 4.72
Sole: 28
Strg: 28
Agil: 7.42
Vol: 2
Develop: 57%
This is a guy that might climb up the draft boards in the war rooms around the eNFL in the weeks to come. Very fast and with good pass rush technique and play diagnosis. But what scouts realy like is his 57% development and very low Vol-rating.
Projected pick: Top-20

DT

#1
Name: Kendall Lorz
College: Boston College
Grade: 6.7
Adjst: 6.7
Dash: 4.92
Sole: 30
Strg: 39
Agil: 7.65
Vol: 93
Develop: 58%
Looks like another solid pick. Well above average in all categories and nicely developed. Need to work on play diagnosis. Is ranked 10th overall in this years draft and first amoung the 57 DT.
Projected pick: Top-15

#2
Name: Bart Elgar
College: Fresno State
Grade: 5.5
Adjst: 5.9
Dash: 4.83
Sole: 29
Strg: 33
Agil: 7.40
Vol: 34
Develop: 50%
The only problem with this guy is endurance. The rest looks very good. He is rated as an AAA player in all 4 categories (Dash, Sole, Strg and Agil) and an AAA+ in 3 of 4 categories. The size and speed of the player will scare a lot of QBs in 2004.
Projected pick: First round

#3
Name: Eugene Marchant
College: NCarolina State
Grade: 4.8
Adjst: 5.2
Dash: 5.01
Sole: 26
Strg: 33
Agil: 7.67
Vol: 41
Develop: 52%
Not a bad player but just not the same display of talent as the two first. Will properly be drafted on day one due to he lack of quality DT in free agency. Scouts see a problem with seize and play diagnosis.
Projected pick: Mid second round

ILB

#1
Name: Zach Ashmore
College: Oregon State
Grade: 6.4
Adjst: 6.2
Dash: 4.65
Sole: 39
Strg: 28
Agil: 7.27
Vol: 36
Develop: 38%
MLB Zach Ashmore is one of only two players with an AAA+ rating in all 4 categories. He is the smallest ILB in this years draft and has problems with zone defence. We still see him as a clearer top-10 pick but other mock drafts has him all the way down to 21st.
Projected pick: 5-10

#2
Name: Everett Hampton
College: Rutgers
Grade: 5.4
Adjst: 5.2
Dash: 4.74
Sole: 42
Strg: 26
Agil: 7.43
Vol: 65
Develop: 43%
Only 35 ILB has entered the draft this season. Everett scored among the top-10 in every test and is a huge player. Rated as an A+ player in both the Sole and Bench test and A in the two others. He will fit in with a team playing zone defence and can also play as a special teams player.
Projected pick: Late first round

#3
Name: Mitch Vick
College: Arizona State
Grade: 5.2
Adjst: 5.0
Dash: 4.75
Sole: 31
Strg: 27
Agil: 7.51
Vol: 27
Develop: 44%
Mitch Vick is one of fifteen players from Arizona State entering the draft. He doesn’t have any weak arrears and will look good to al lot of teams with his low Vol and high development. He is way above average in strength and also better then normal in the 40-dash. Need to put on some weight to add to the 227pounds he got today.
Projected pick: Late first round

OLB

#1
Name: Geoff Consulo
College: Miami, Florida
Grade: 7,5
Adjst: 7,2
Dash: 4,47
Sole: 30
Strg: 29
Agil: 6,94
Vol: 86
Develop: 48%
Geoff is rated 3rd overall in this years draft and will leave the draft board very early. As an A+ player in three of four categories most GM will forget about his high Vol-rating and rather see his excellent ratings on the scout report. A lot of people in Cleveland hope he will come back to his hometown and play this season.
Projected pick: Top-5

#2
Name: Bucky White
College: Rutgers
Grade: 5.0
Adjst: 4.8
Dash: 4.70
Sole: 30
Strg: 18
Agil: 6.95
Vol: 21
Develop: 40%
A huge drop in talent in this position. Bucky looks bad in booth a zone defense and pass rush strength. He will be very good defending against the run and have the 6th best Agil-rating in the entire draft.
Projected pick: Late first round

#3
Name: Rufus Thies
College: San Diego
Grade: 4.5
Adjst: 4.3
Dash: 4.65
Sole: 30
Strg: 30
Agil: 7.18
Vol: 7
Develop: 57%
The best-developed player among the top players in this position. He is also the biggest and strongest ILB in the draft. The scouting reports from the combine look average and that will properly drop him in to the second round of the draft. Looks best in bump-and-run defense.
Projected pick: Mid second round

CB

#1
Name: C.J. Ribich
College: Wake Forest
Grade: 7.6
Adjst: 7.9
Dash: 4.32
Sole: 35
Strg: 20
Agil: 6.87
Vol: 3
Develop: 59%
This can very well be the #1 draft pick of 2004. He is one of only two players with A+ ratings in all four categories. He got a prefect scout report and can also show low Vol and high development. He is the fastest player in this years draft and can show the same speed as Champ Bailey and Terence Newman The only thing talking against him is his lack of size. The question is if that’s enough to scare Carolina away.
Projected pick: #1 draft pick in the eNFL 2004???

#2
Name: Courtney Francis
College: Miami, Florida
Grade: 6.0
Adjst: 6.2
Dash: 4.43
Sole: 28
Strg: 14
Agil: 6.78
Vol: 10
Develop: 30%
If you didn’t like the size of C.J. Ribich then pick Courtney Francis instead. This big player still got a lot of speed and agility an turn in A+ performances in both 40-dash and agil-test. Like to play in a zone defens and got very good hands and will be a constant thread to QB in years to come.
Projected pick: Top-10

#3
Name: Donnell Weber
College: Auburn
Grade: 5.1
Adjst: 5.3
Dash: 4.46
Sole: 26
Strg: 23
Agil: 7.03
Vol: 53
Develop: 37%
Weber is the strongest CB in this years draft and is also in the top-10 in the 40-dash. A solid player with great skills against the run defense and easily the best among the 9 players out of Auburn this season.
Projected pick: 15-20

S

#1
Name: Desmond Wolfe
College: Oregon State
Grade: 6.3
Adjst: 5.9
Dash: 4.52
Sole: 35
Strg: 17
Agil: 7.08
Vol: 91
Develop: 47%
For a lot of other players I have been willing to pick a player with high volatility rating but not this time around. Desmond Wolfe only managed average scores in most tests except the agil. test where he was the 4th best. That compared with his high volatility rating can look like trouble. He also got an issue with lack of size. The scout report from the college workout looks excellent as long as he doesn’t have to play in a bump-and-run defense.
Projected pick: Mid first round

#2
Name: Troy Taft
College: Mississippi State
Grade: 6.1
Adjst: 5.7
Dash: 4.52
Sole: 33
Strg: 22
Agil: 7.02
Vol: 84
Develop: 50%
Rated second among safeties Troy Taft properly has a better shot of making it in the eNFL then Desmond Wolfe. He made the best Agil-test among the safeties and is a strong player. He prefers the bump-and-run and also had an excellent day at the college workout with an almost prefect scout report.
Projected pick: Mid-late first round

#3
Name: Eugene Sims
College: Duke
Grade: 6.1
Adjst: 5.7
Dash: 4.44
Sole: 36
Strg: 29
Agil: 7.09
Vol: 45
Develop: 64%
This will be very interesting. Eugene Sims doesn’t look as complete as the other two safeties. He didn’t have a very good day with the scouts but he turned in scores in all tests better then his two toughest competitors in the position. He is both stronger and faster then Wolfe and Taft and comes with a lower Vol-rating and is more developed. He cannot play run defense. The teams in the market for picking safeties got a lot to think about.
Projected pick: Mid-late first round

Silence

Its just like when you are waiting for something big to hit you. The last seconds before the other car hits you, the hours before the big storm hits your home. Everything is silent. It’s the same with the eNFL. There are still a few days left of FA but everybody have turned their attention to the upcoming draft. The first in eNFL history.

It’s still not a done deal who will be the first draft pick of 2004 but the field has been narrowed down considerably.

We have talked to people inside the 49ers camp and they say that they are ready with their list of 14 players for the first round of the draft. They will pick the first available player from that list when their turn is up at #14. They confirm that Wake Forest CB C.J. Ribich, Fort Hays State DE Herb Shelton and Illinois G Perry Dunkin tops the list but don’t wants to give any more away. That realy not at big surprise as the 49ers primary needs are listed as CB, G and DE.

On the other side of the bay, the eNFL Super Bowl Champs are not that secret about the upcoming draft. With their first pick coming up as #32 GM Yabanci had no problem revelling his mock draft. It’s properly a surprise for a lot of people to see 3 RB, 2 QB and 2WR selected in the first 18 picks but for now we just have to wait in silence and see the outcome.

yabanci's 2004 eNFL mock draft (ver. 2)

1. Carolina - C.J. Ribich CB, Wake Forest

Carolina must be disappointed with having the first pick this year. They clearly had hoped to draft their franchise quarterback, but that guy is not to be found in this draft. Not only is there no franchise quarterback, the top choices tend to be defensive players, yet Carolina's problems were primarily on offense. Last year the Panthers' offense was 27th in rushing and 24th in passing (dead last in total points scored) while their defense was 11th against the rush and 12th against the pass. If they focus on offensive players, RB Irv O'Leary isn't an option because the Panthers already have RBs Stephen Davis and DeShaun Foster, so it really comes down to an offensive lineman. LT Colin Rogers and RG Perry Dunkin both look like excellent players, but at the same time neither look like #1 overall picks. What Carolina really ought to do is draft down a few positions and then take one of the offensive linemen -- RG Perry Dunkin would fill a major hole. If they don't move down, however, they probably will just go with the best player in the draft, which appears to be C.J. Ribich, a 5'10 172 cornerback who has great strength with agility and amazing 4.32 speed (best in draft).

2. NY Jets - Irv O'Leary RB, UNLV

The Jets hope to draft CB C.J. Ribich, who would be a perfect fit in their very weak secondary. If he's not there, however, the Jets will draft RB Irv O'Leary. Right now they have RB Curtis Martin, but Martin is getting up in years and isn't a top running back at this point. At 6'1 238, RB Irv O'Leary is both the fastest and strongest running back in the draft, and the fact that he is 80% developed means he could step right in as the Jets' starter.

3. Cincinnati - Geoff Consulo OLB, Miami

The Bengals were 29th against the rush and 32nd against the pass, so they definitely need some oomph in their defense. They are lucky because SLB Geoff Consulo looks like a special player. He's huge for an linebacker at 6'4 250, but he is as fast and agile as many defensive backs.

4. Cleveland - Colin Rogers LT, Kansas

Cleveland's offensive line, which was among the league leaders in sacks allowed, is in shambles. The Browns are okay at center, but are very weak at both guard and tackle. That means the choice is probably between LT Colin Rogers or RG Perry Dunkin, which is a tough choice to make. In the end, the Brown will go with LT Colin Rogers (6'7 335). Although Dunkin's future potential looks to be a little higher and Cleveland certainly needs a guard, left tackle is a more important position and Rogers' very low volatility (11) and 48% development makes him a safer pick than Dunkin with his 92 volatility and 33% development.

5. Arizona - Rico Carr RB, Oregon State

Arizona's offense was 29th points scored last year, and this year they are looking to change that. Already they have made significant upgrades by trading for QB Trent Dilfer and WR Koren Robinson, and they've cut loose the dead wood by releasing RB Emmit Smith. Now they need new blood at running back. Their first choice might have been RB Irv O'Leary, but since he will not be available they will draft bruising RB Rico Carr, who is 70% developed and has good speed to go with excellent size (6'1 242).

6. Dallas - Jason Bruce QB, Northeastern St., Ok

The Cowboys have a lot of problems, so they can go anywhere. They have major holes at every position except safety. Since Dallas was among the worst passing teams last year, one would think they will look to upgrade at quarterback or wide receiver. Neither position is particular strong in this draft The top rated quarterback is Jason Bruce, but he is coming out of Division II football at Northeastern St., Ok., and is only 12% developed -- certainly not a guy who can step in and play immediately. On the other hand, he is a long passing style quarterback with very good size (6'5 225) and had the second highest score among quarterbacks on the Solecismic test (39). Although it might be a risky pick, the Cowboys will focus on Bruce's very low volatility (6) and take him as the first quarterback in the draft to let him develop while QB Quincy Carter finishes out his time in Dallas.

7. Houston - Dwight Hammond RDE, Texas A&M

It's hard to tell what Houston will do. They let their leading rusher RB Stacey Mack go as a free agent, so running back might be a focus even though they have a couple of decent young players as replacements. On the other hand, the Texans' defense was 19th against the rush and 29th against the pass last year, and they let their leading pass rusher (Marco Coleman) leave via free agency. The question is whether the Texans will replace Coleman with DE Herb Shelton or DE Dwight Hammond. Shelton is rated higher by the bureau, as he should be given he was #3 overall in strength, #2 overall on the Solecismic test, and was the most agile defensive end in the draft. However, Shelton seems more like a run-stuffing LDE, which is something the Texans already have in LDE Gary Walker. He also has very high volatility (93). Consequently, look for Houston to go with RDE Dwight Hammond, who seems to excel in rushing the passer and is probably a better fit (4.72 speed, second among defensive ends).

8. Seattle - Herb Shelton LDE, Fort Hays State

So far Seattle has five first round draft picks and three second round picks this year. Their roster is in utter disarray after the inexplicable fire sale and is weak at nearly every position. It's impossible to guess what Seattle might do. Most likely they will just pick the highest bureau-rated player, LDE Herb Shelton.

9. San Diego - Zach Ashmore MLB, Oregon State

The Chargers's defense was worst against the rush last year and LDE Marcellus Wiley is still suffering from a torn ACL, so they are really hoping that either Herb Shelton or Dwight Hammond fall this far. If not, the Chargers will look seriously at MLB Zach Ashmore, who is undersized at middle linebacker at 5'8 232 but is the strongest, fastest, and most agile ILB in the draft, and he also scored very high on the Solecismic test (39). The Chargers currently have no middle linebackers on their roster. Another excellent pick would be RG Perry Dunkin, who would give RB LaDanian Tomilson someone to run behind. It will be a difficult decision, but the Chargers will focus on bolstering their run defense and select MLB Zach Ashmore.

10. Minnesota - Perry Dunkin RG, Illinois

The Vikings have been busy in free agency and the trade market and have filled many of their holes. One place they could improve is at offensive guard, and if G Perry Dunkin is still around they will be very lucky.

11. Washington - Danny Brant RB, Oregon State

The Redskins must have been disappointed with being last in the league in rushing yards per carry last year. They will try to solve that problem with RB Danny Brant, a good all around running and receiving back who shared time with RB Rico Carr at Oregon State. Brant has very high volatility (93) and looks like he could be a possible breakout player.

12. New England - Courtney Francis RCB, Miami

The Patriots are a strong team throughout and have a new look backfield. If they want to give the new backfield every chance of succeeding, they might fill the last hole on their offensive line, right tackle. RT Bubba Craig (6'3 301) would fit that bill, but he seems like a bit of a reach here. Another sensible option would be to take DT Kendell Lorz, because DT Ted Washington is in his 14th year and won't last forever. In fact, if Washington breaks down this year the Patriots will be in deep trouble. A final option, the one which the Patriots ultimately will chose, is CB Courtney Francis, the 6'3 203 cornerback with 4.43 speed. New England wants to have the dominant defense, and Francis would be a great compliment to LCB Ty Law.

13. Baltimore - Christian Clancy RDE, Notre Dame

The Ravens were second to last in sacking the quarterback last year, so defensive line will be the focus. They have a gaping hole at right defensive end and made an offer to DE Marco Coleman in free agency, but the Ravens couldn't sign him. That leaves them no choice but to select RDE Christian Clancy, who has good size (6'5 286) and is the fastest defensive end in the draft. He appears to have excellent pass rushing technique, but his strength is suspect. He is 57% developed and has very low volatility (2).

14. San Francisco - Rodney Noblitt WR, Liberty (Va.)

With WR Tai Streets leaving after a disappointing season (2 tds, 11 drops), the 49ers will be looking for a wide receiver. The top two are Rodney Noblitt (6'1 208) and Stan Robbins (5'10 189), both of whom have very good speed, agility, and strength. Robbins is a little faster and more agile, but Noblitt is stronger and more developed and looks better able to compete for a starting job next to Terrell Owens.

15. Tennessee - Donnell Weber RCB, Auburn

Tennessee moved up in the draft with in the DE Kevin Carter trade and are in need of a cornerback, so look for them to take CB Donnell Weber. He's not the biggest (5'11 197) or fastest (4.46) cornerback, but he is significantly stronger than all other cornerbacks and looks to be an excellent run defender, which will help the Titan's disappointing run defense.

16. Jacksonville - Desmond Wolfe FS, Oregon State

Jacksonville was last in points allowed and have a lot of holes on defense, especially SLB, RCB, and FS. The Jaguars will hope that RCB Donnell Weber falls to them, but if not they will look at free safety, because none of the available OLBs are worthy of this pick. That would mean FS Desmond Wolfe (5'9 187), who has good agility but not great speed and is another top player this year out of Oregon State.

17. Seattle - Warren Sunia QB, Florida

The second of five Seattle picks. Once again, their team is a mess and anything goes with this pick. You have to think the Seahawks want a quarterback, since they gave away the two they had. Look for them to take QB Warren Sunia and let him battle QB Seneca Wallace for the starting job. Sunia is a big (6'5 235), west-coast offense style quarterback who scored third among quarterbacks on the Solecismic test (37).

18. Atlanta - Sam Robbins WR, Kansas State

The choice for Atlanta will be whether to boost the offensive line or to take a wide receiver to start beside WR Peerless Price. Since they gave up the second highest number of sacks last year and have a big hole at RT, it would make a lot of sense for the Falcons to take RT Ethan Dawkins (6'4 283) to protect QB Michael Vick's blind side. On the other hand, if WR Stan Robbins, the fastest receiver in the draft, is available, he would be hard to pass up, since he would be the final puzzle piece for what might be the best young offense in the league. So the Falcons must decide whether to go with backbone or glitter, and they will probably chose speedy WR Stan Robbins..

19. Seattle - Kendall Lorz, LDT, Boston College

Pick three of five. If DT Kendall Lorz, Seattle will have to take him. He's just too good to pass up.

20. Buffalo - Buddy Lannon TE, LSU

Buffalo has pretty good options at all positions, so they will probably want to take the best player available. Since the Bills don't have the best receivers, they might go with TE Buddy Lannon to give Drew Bledsoe someone else to throw to. Lannon has the potential to be one of the top five tight ends in the league.

21. Kansas City - Eugene Sims SS, Duke

The Chiefs need help on defense. During free agency, they made major offers to SS Rogers Beckett and Arturo Freeman, but both signed elsewhere. That means they will look to SS Eugene Sims, who is the fastest and strongest safety in the draft.

22. Chicago - Glen Tucker QB, San Diego St.

The Bears need a quarterback badly, but it appears the top two QBs already will be off the board. That leaves a handful of quarterbacks who might fit the bill. Chicago might consider QB Sherman Fogarty, but his small size (5'10 192) will probably scare the Bears away. A better choice might be QB Glen Tucker, who is significantly more developed than the others and is by far the strongest quarterback in the draft.

23. New Orleans - Van Mussatti RDE, Houston

The Saints have a rebuilt offense and decent players at all offensive positions. They might consider drafting one of the LTs depending on their confidence in LT Jon Stinchcomb, but more likely they will turn their attention to defense. The Saints got a great year from LDE Darren Howard, but a less than impressive performance from RDE Willie Whitehead. Since Whitehead has decent pass rush skills but is very weak against the run, the Saints might take RDE Van Mussatti, who has great size (6'7 281) and specializes in stopping the run.

24. Seattle - Bucky White WLB, Rutgers

Seattle again, four of five. The Seahawks are short at linebacker, so look for them to take Bucky White. Although he's listed at WLB, he looks better suited to SLB where the Seahawks need him.

25. NY Giants - Jumbo McCarney LG, East Carolina

The Giants were last in the league in rushing last year and were among the league leaders in sacks allowed, so their focus will be on the offensive line. The question is whether they want to go with guard or tackle. That will depend on whether the Giants have any confidence left in their two young LTs, who combined for a total of 5 KRBs all season. If not, they might go with either RT Bubba Craig or RT Ethan Dawkins. The other option would be to upgrade at guard with LG Jumbo McCarney, who is indeed jumbo (6'6 332). In the end, the Giants will go with Jumbo.

26. Detroit - Bart Elgar LDT, Fresno State

The Lions' defense was 27th against the rush last year. They've addressed the problem by trading for DE Kevin Carter and SLB Henri Crockett, but look for them to continue to upgrade their defensive front. DT Shaun Rogers is in the last year of his contract, so the Lions will take giant DT Bart Elgar (6'6 325) to compete for and eventually take Rogers' job. Elgar has surprising speed and agility for a man his size and scored very high on the strength test.

27. Tampa Bay - Kendrick Albriktsen RB, Texas Tech

The question is what Tampa Bay will do at running back. They clearly have gaping hole there, but it seems unlikely that a superbowl contender like the Bucs would risk their season on a rookie running back. Even if they trade for a running back, however, they might still draft one. On the one hand, they might try to upgrade at offensive guard, which looks like one of Tampa's weak points. There are a couple of possibilities, but G Sammy Hodges (6'6 330) looks most ready to compete for a starting job. But Hodges would not necessarily be an immediate improvement over any of the guards already under contract, and thus might spend the year sitting on the bench. If they don't want to do that, they might consider drafting a running back to back up whoever is acquired via trade. In that case, RB Kendrick Albriktsen (5'8 206) would be a good fit, since he's 76% developed and seems to have great running skills.

28. Seattle - Ethan Dawkins RT, Duke

Seattle again, five of five. Seattle will move newly acquired George Foster to LT and take RT Ethan Dawkins to play opposite of him. They will also consider a center here, but are more likely to take the center in the second round.

29. Miami - Bubba Craig RT, Henderson State

Miami will be looking to upgrade at either offensive tackle or defensive tackle. The Dolphins have Jeff Zgonina at RDT, but he was very disappointing there last year and a guy like DT Eugene Marchant might be able to step right in and start. Instead, though, Miami will fill their hole at right tackle to make sure Ricky Williams has the best possible line to run behind. They will take RT Bubba Craig (6'3 301, 47 Solecismic score).

30. Green Bay - Everett Hampton MLB

Well, Green Bay has indeed moved Nick Barnett to WLB and brought in MLB Lester Towns, but Towns can't be anything more than a backup. Look for Green Bay to take MLB Everett Hampton, who at 6'3 268 is bigger than many defensive linemen. Hampton scored very high on the Solecismic test (41) and was #3 on the strength test at his position.

31. Philadelphia - Mitch Vick MLB

Although the Falcons are hoping MLB Everett Hampton will fall to them, the Eagles might have to settle for Arizona State MLB Mitch Vick instead. Is he the long lost brother of Michael and Marcus Vick? He's about the same size as they are (6'0 227) and scored #2 among ILBs in the strength test despite being undersized at the position.

Welcome to the annual eNFL draft Live from New York. All GM has arrived and everybody are now waiting for the clock to reach 11:00 am EST and Carolina to make the first pick in this years draft.

A lot of teams have spent the last hours before the draft trying to move in to position in the draft. The current draft order looks like this:

1. Carolina
2. New York Jets
3. Seattle (trade with Bengals for #8 and #19)
4. Cleveland
5. Arizona
6. Dallas
7. Houston
8. Cincinnati
9. San Diego
10. Minnesota

For the Seahawks this has been an extremely busy off-season. First the blockbuster deals and now trading draft picks. They made the predicted trade with then Bengals to move up to #3 but have also cut a deal with New England for the #12 pick. They send pick #24 and # 40 to the Patriots. They also traded for the # 16 pick by sending #28 and #49 to Jacksonville. They are now left with the followring picks in round 1: 3, 12, 16, 17.

The Bengals GM Mojo Jojo had the followring coments to the trade:

Quote
After I studied the draft I thought there was more depth there than I had seen initially, and additionally I didn't get shit from FA, where I had been hoping to plug some holes, so I thought the extra pick would help...

Lets go to a small commercial break and then we will be backwith the first pick of this years draft.

With the first pick of the 2004 eNFL draft Carolina Panthers select from Wake Forest CB C.J Ribich.
Code:
Pick Pos Name Grade Adjst Dash Sole Strg Agil College
1(1) CB C.J. Ribich 7,6 7,9 4,32 35 20 6,9 Wake Forest

This was not a big surprise. C.J. has been the number one guy on all the latest mock drafts and he also had the highest adjusted rating (7.9) in this year’s draft. He will play next to LCB Terry Cousin.

The next pick will be more interesting. Their have been a lot of different theories on what the Jets would choose to do with the #2 pick. It looks like they have made their choice already lets listen.

With the second pick of the 2004 eNFL draft New York Jets select from Miami, Florida CB Courtney Francis.
Code:
Pick Pos Name Grade Adjst Dash Sole Strg Agil College
2 (1) CB Courtney Francis 6 6,2 4,43 28 14 6,8 Miami, Florida

This was a bit of a surprise. Yes it will be an instant upgrade for a very weak Jets secondary and Courtney Francis was the second best CB in this years draft. Still most people expected the Jets to pick OLB Geoff Consulo. He will definitely be the next pick in this years draft by Seattle.

With the 3rd pick of the 2004 eNFL draft Seattle Seahawks select from Miami, Florida OLB Geoff Consulo.
Code:
Pick Pos Name Grade Adjst Dash Sole Strg Agil College
3 (1) OLB Geoff Consulo 7,5 7,2 4,47 30 29 6,9 Miami, Florida

This was the exact reason Seattle trade up to get the 3rd overall pick. No surprise that Consulo was drafted in the top-3. It already looks like a great day for Miami, Florida. Two players in the top-3. The rest of the Miami players will properly have to wait to the second round before they see any action.

Bruce is a project. He'll start when the time is right, probably when Bledsoe retires. Or, if his contract gets to be a pain, and if Bruce is coming along nicely, I'll trade him -- he's got no bonus money, and therefore is very easily movable.
