OT: Semi-Urgent computer question
Yes, yes, the obligatory biweekly computer buying question. I checked around some places at lunch today, and I'm leaning towards buying the machine below for $700 after work, but wanted to get some feedback before i pull the trigger.
basically, my current machine, a dell, has just about had it after 4+ years and can barely multitask at all anymore without slowing to a crawl. i don't do much with high-end video gaming, as i stick to text gaming, and other than the basic MS office usages and bookkeeping junk, i'm just looking for a stable maching for simple gaming, music/mp3/cd creation, and the like. i don't need a new monitor, printer, yada, and i'm looking to keep costs below a grand. anyway, here are the specs: PowerSpec8923 Processor Intel® Pentium® 4 Processor with HT Technology at 2.80GHz OS Microsoft® Windows® XP Home Edition System Board Biostar P4TSV System Memory 512MB composed of 2- 256MB DDR400 SDRAM 184-pin DIMMs Diskette Drive 3.5" 1.44MB Floppy Disk Drive Hard Drive 120GB 7200RPM Ultra ATA/133 CD-RW Drive 52x32x52x CD-RW Drive DVD-ROM Drive 16x DVD-ROM Drive Video Integrated Intel Extreme Graphics 2 Chipset Sound Integrated 6-Channel AC'97 Audio CODEC Modem 56K V.92 PCI Internal Modem LAN Integrated 10/100 Ethernet Adapter Keyboard Standard PS/2 Keyboard Mouse 2-Button PS/2 Scroll Mouse Speakers Stereo Speakers Warranty On-Site Limited Warranty thanks for the input. |

you wont do much high-end gaming on that integrated video card. as you said, that's not what you're getting it for. for the tasks you mentioned, this machine is fine.
