Winger ?"
When playing a winger offensive, I know he should have a solid or higher winger skill but does he need a certain level of scoring ability as well or is it just the winger skill that he needs?

no need for scoring at all, only winger skill matters for a winger, not matter what special order you give him...
Scoring matters only for forward. FM

I think you should clarify that a little Froggie. Winger skill only matters for the winger's offensive ability; scoring doesn't matter. Their playmaking skill adds to the midfield and their defensive skill adds to the left or right defensive ratings. Stamina is important to overall performance, especially in the second half.
No matter what order you give a winger, the other skills mentioned above all still matter. Setting a winger to offensive will emphasize his winger skill, but his defense and midfield skills will still be factored into the ratings. |

Offensive---more winger and passing, less defense, same PM.
Defensive----Less winger and passing, more defense, same PM. Towards Middle---Less winger, passing and defense, more PM and Stamina.

well, he asked if a winger needed scoring, he never mentionned anything about playmaking... so no need of scoring was my answer, play him offensive, defensive or toward middle, a winger will never need scoring... Yes, playmaking will help him contribute to your midfield, but he will never need scoring...

This is not entirely accurate, especially the "more passing/less passing part"... From the rule book: Individual orders
the only this that an offensive order affects is "more winger, less defending"... FM

Yes, but you said it like winger skill only matters no matter what special order you give him. That seems to imply that nothing else matters. Last edited by Desnudo : 02-18-2004 at 11:56 AM. |

rereading it, yeah, maybe you could read it like that. I meant of the two, between scoring and winger... sorry for the confusion, not enough sleep lately... ![]() FM

Don't fall prey to the "secondaries don't matter" movement.
Secondary skills are very important. They are not necessary, but they are important. Don't go overboard paying for them, but make sure you get some. |
