Prime ratings per position
I'm just looking for what are the prime ratings you look for at certain positions, particularly defense. Most of use rely on hole recognition and elusiveness for RB, gauge a WR on his route running (which was determined to correlate to the number of times he is targeted, correct?), the OL on the few ratings they do have, DE's on pass rushing technique and DT's and run stopping ability.
But what about the individual LB positions and the secondary? Who should be focusing on stopping the run? On the pass? Zone or man to man for CB’s and S’s? How much do you value the interception rating? And so on. |

This is pretty much just my own "internal" guidelines, backed up by little more than my own anecdotal observations & a healthy portion of "gut feeling". But FWIW
SLB - Beyond run defense, I want them to have some semblance of pass coverage skills. Likely reserves at any LB spot should have some special teams ability WLB - same as above, but with much less emphasis on pass coverage MLB - After run stopping, I'd like them to be able to pass rush if possible. CB - I want guys who can cover in all three styles. Interceptions are treated as a happy bonus. KR/PR ability is also considered a plus. SS - Coverage & run stopping ability. FS - Coverage & interception skills. |
