XP problems
Ok, I'm getting stumped by my computer:
I have plenty of games installed and never had any real problems, however I recently had a big virus problem and finally got the viruses(virii?) removed. My problem is that they affected the .EXE files and I've had to reinstall both windows, and many of the games to make them functional again. My problem is, when I put for example: Nascar racing 2002 into the CDROM and try to install, it just stops when I click "install" and does nothing. even going into the cdrom and clicking on the setup.exe file gets nowhere. I also see this with "the sims" and I haven't bothered trying any others until I get these working. Anyone else had this problem? or have good suggestions as to where I can go to fix this? Thanks in advance! Ren

Are you sure that the drive is OK and connected securely?

I don't know how to fix it, but I've had similar problems crop up in the past with corrupt Windows Installer files. The only fix I could find was to reinstall Windows.

yeah the drive functions just fine for other cdroms. in fact nascar racing 2003 installed perfectly from the cdrom. but those other two games will not. I'm really confused =)

That was my experience as well - some programs would install without a hitch, others would make the machine burp. Weird stuff. |

My brother had that happen with the Sims. I reinstalled Windows and like most have said, it fixed the problem.
