IWS #58 RESULTS </tension>
And the winner is... QuikSand, with an astounding 16.67% of the total possible score!!! QS had 5 of 6 top scoring answers. Quik had been in a Tiger-Slump, with 26 consecutive losses in IWS's, but he has reasserted his dominance, with his sixth IWS title. Long live the King! The scoring was very close, with Eaglesfan27 and MIJB#19 in a statistical dead heat for 2nd place.
Here's the breakdown of responses: 1. Other than quarterback, name the most difficult position in the NFL for a rookie to excel. Wide Receiver (8) Offensive Tackle (4) Offensive Line (3) -- I had to judge this separately, because Tackle and Center were both listed, and I thought "Line" was too broad. Linebacker (3) Cornerback (3) Running Back (2) Center (1) -- This would have been my answer... I would have lost, I'm afraid. Sorry, tucker342! Defensive Tackle (1) 2. Name the most inept owner in Major League Baseball. Tom Hicks/Texas (7) Bud Selig/Brewers (5) Angelos/Orioles (3) Steinbrenner (3) Mike Ilitch/Tigers (2) Devil Rays (2) Major League Baseball (1) -- To me, the most insightful answer. Sadly, panerd eliminated himself with this one... ![]() Time Warner (1) Fred Wilpon (1) 3. Which NBA franchise is least likely to win a championship in the next five years? Clippers (11) Bulls (7) Hawks (5) -- Atlanta is well represented in this contest, as you will see... 76ers (1) Wizards (1) 4. Name a multi-goal scorer from any of the past 10 World Cup championship matches. Ronaldo/Rolando (14) -- I allowed Rolando because a) it looks like a typo, b) it doesn't effect the winner, and c) I never heard of a Rolando, have you? Pele (5) -- Nice to see Pele scoring a few goals in the past decade... Zidane (2) Thierry Henry (1) Maradona (1) Mia Hamm (1) -- foreshadowing question 6... Beckham (1) -- I really thought he'd get more love 5. Name an NHL hockey team which has never won a Stanley Cup playoff series. Thrashers (12) -- more Atlanta representing... for all the wrong reasons! Blues (3) Lightning (2) Predators (2) Ducks (2) -- Sheesh, they just went to the finals, and show up on this list? Bleh. Blue Jackets (2) Coyotes (1) Christobel Huet (1) -- Hrm? 6. Name a dominant male tennis player who never won each of the four Slam titles. Sampras (15) -- an obvious choice, the top answer given in any question Roddick (4) McEnroe (2) Lendl (2) Serena Williams (1) -- I blame myself for this one... very cute, MikeVic!Agassi (1) PLAYER.......................TOTAL.....% OF POSSIBLE QuikSand........................258720....16.67 Eaglesfan27....................252000....16.23 MIJB#19........................249480....16.07 cartman........................158760....10.23 Tasan...........................155232....10.00 albionmoonlight...............151200.....9.74 The_herd........................88200.....5.68 General Mike....................83160.....5.36 dangarion........................73920.....4.76 k0ruptr...........................70560.....4.55 SirFozzie.........................66528.....4.29 TheLionKing.....................66000.....4.25 wheels............................39600.....2.55 Anxiety...........................26400.....1.70 MikeVic...........................17640.....1.14 Ramsavail........................17640.....1.14 wbatl1............................13440.....0.87 tucker342........................12600.....0.81 fantastic flying froggies.......8910......0.57 corbes.............................2400......0.15 Alf....................................880......0.06 AgPete..............................588......0.04 Maple Leafs........................392......0.03 FishFan..............................224......0.01 panerd...............................210......0.01 Hall of Heroes Ahbrady - IWS#15, IWS#41 Airhog - IWS#1 Albionmoonlight - IWS#30, IWS#50 Anxiety - IWS#49 Archer219 - IWS#18 Ardent Enthausiast - IWS#6 Bbor - IWS#23, IWS#26 BishopMVP - IWS#36 Blade - IWS#13 Bryce - IWS#40, IWS#53 (tie) Buccaneer - IWS#47 Bsak16 - IWS#6, IWS#9, IWS#17 cartman - IWS#48 Chief Rum - IWS#45, IWS#56 Cornhuskerly - IWS#46 Crim - IWS#57 Cthomer5000 - IWS#54 Cuervo72 - IWS#27, IWS#38 Desert Dweller - IWS#6 Digamma - IWS#14 EagleEye11 - IWS#54 EagleFan - IWS#41 Hammer755 - IWS#38 HeavyReign - IWS#23 Henry296 - IWS#12 HornedFrogPurple - IWS#10 JeeberD - IWS#44, IWS #52 Joe Canadian - IWS#29 John Lynch - IWS#10 Maple Leafs - IWS#34 Marmel - IWS#8 Masked - IWS#22, IWS#30, IWS#31, IWS#33 Msf518 - IWS#11, IWS#15, IWS#35, IWS#39 Neuqua - IWS#19 NoMyths - IWS#46 Noop - IWS#46 Nothingman - IWS#6, IWS#45 Panerd - IWS#3 Pjstp20 - IWS#42 Primelord - IWS#11 QuikSand - IWS#9, IWS#16, IWS#18, IWS#24, IWS#32, IWS#58 Qwikshot - IWS#5 Ramzavail - IWS#53 (tie) RendeR - IWS#6 RonnieDobbs - IWS#37 RPI-Fan - IWS#9 Samdari - IWS#21 ScottVib - IWS#9 SplitPersonality1 - IWS#4 Sterlingice - IWS#28, IWS#31, IWS#35, IWS#51 Sublime - IWS#25 Swaggs - IWS#2, IWS#35 Tredwel - IWS#6, IWS#9, IWS#20, IWS#43 TRO - IWS#7, IWS#9, IWS#12 Vince - IWS#37, IWS#46 Wheels - IWS#55 The Rules The rules are the same as all FOFC "I’m With Stupid" Contests. The object of this contest is to answer the questions posted, and to provide the most common answer among those submitted. For each question, your score will be equal to the number of people who submitted that response. Your score for the contest will be the product of your individual question scores. Highest score wins. No collaborating in any way. No posting your answers to this board, nor sharing them by e-mail or in any other way with other potential contestants. All determinations of "matches" and anything else requiring judgment fall to that of the sole administrator of this puzzle, i.e. the person posting the questions unless otherwise noted. You can reduce the need for doubt and judgment by properly spelling your submissions, being clear, and that sort of thing. Any references that are unclear to you, due to language or geography, should be understood to be authored from the perspective of an English-speaking American. However... Your answers do not necessarily have to be correct in order to score points. If I ask "name a color of the rainbow," and you and four other people responded "black" - you get five points, period, even if it is not technically a correct answer to the question. Please submit entries via PM no later than Tuesday, Feb. 17, 11:59 p.m. EST Thanks, have fun, and good luck. |

Your question DID say: Quote:
Since World Cups are held every 4 years, that would be any multi-goal scorer in the last FORTY (40) years!

Wow, those tennis, NHL and soccer questions killed me. I was the lone sucker who picked Mia Hamm as a World Cup goal scorer. She was the ONLY current soccer player I know about. I knew about Pele but at I at least know enough about soccer to know he hasn't played in the last ten years.
LMAO, the Mighty Ducks played for the Stanley Cup last year? Oops, wrong pick there. I guess I should do a little research with sports I know nothing about before I enter next time. ![]() How did wide receiver become the toughest position for NFL rookies to play? Two of the most dominant rookies in the last five years were wide recievers, Moss and Boldin. I wanted to pick an offensive lineman but they never get any glory. |

Christobal Huet is me (mentionning the only French player in the NHL), plus I only know the top teams, not the bottom ones.
Thierry Henry is also from me. Being French didn't help me as I should have known Ronaldo was the obvious answer. Congrats MIJB for a near win ! |

Now that it's over... anyone want to admit to just guessing on most on the questions, especially tennis and soccer?

I made a total guess on the hockey question, which was my miss. But felt pretty good about the rest, despite my very first reaction - which was that these were almost all crapshoots.

Sorry but the Blues have won quite a few Stanley Cup playoff series'. Lastly in 2002. I think you misunderstood the question. http://ca.sports.yahoo.com/nhl/hkn_stlouispost.html Atlanta, Nashville are two teams that never won a Stanley Cup playoff series. I was confused about the hockey question. Was it the finals or just the playoffs? That's why I said the Ducks. I mean I know they went to the finals. But they didn't win!
See in baseball you don't call all the playoffs the World Series Playoffs. And you don't call the the post season the Super Bowl Playoffs.

I confess to making two of the questions a little ambiguous. I thought the results were interesting, though, that there was still a cluster of popular answers in each category, and that the reigning master of IWS won again.
Also, I think there's an Atlanta-based conspiracy... but that's another story... Crim |

Congrats QS.
Top 5 for me, I put Oline instead of Tackle, like I originally thought, and put Roddick instead of sampress, I could have sworn Sampress won each of them.

I wonder if I had picked Wide receiver instead of Offensive Tackle (which I almost did) would I have won? So close, but so far away again. Congrats Quiksand.

Consipiracy? I intentianally went with all Atlanta answers because I knew that there was a huge Atlanta population on the board. However, I may have overdone it. I picked Time Warner, and got blown out of the water. So much for stratigizing. Gotta remember the name next time ![]()
