Lets try this again: Winning Eleven 7

Ok, after the mini-debacle I had trying to post this the first time, I thought it was best if I just redid it all together.

I just read something that this is being released in the U.S. now or has already been released? I had heard nothing of this prior.

Anyone have this? Wondering if it's that big of a step up from 6 and worth purchasing?

I loved 6, but I hate my PS2 and have not really touched it since I was done playing 6 last year. I'm thinking I might have to fight the pain for this though.

Any comments on this one though?

I noticed this in Best Buy Saturday, so it has definitely been released. I had not heard anything about it prior to seeing it in the store. I never played #6 as much as I thought I would, so I am looking for features for 7 before I decide on it. I think I pretty much need full world cup qualifying and the world cup itself to have any interest in a console soccer game. I could just never get into the club management suff in 6.

I have it and think it's great also. You still have to change a lot of names though. Unless you like playing with Romaldo and Peli. At least the Netherlands have real fake names, so no more Oranges01-200.

I have it and love. The in-game sound by the crowd was the first thing I noticed was much improved. The gamplay, and graphics are aswell. Desnudo is right there are lots of names to change that's what I've spent most of the 2 days I've had it doing as well as turning the to fake teams WE United and PES united into Santos, and River Plate.

I bought it, its a fun game, much more realistic than FIFA. I had never played the game before, so it is very new to me, and very hard. Playing on 3 stars, I think I have had about 4 scoring chances in 7 games. I was also a little disappointed to see the relatively low number of teams, and changing the names was a bit of an annoyance. However, the visual presentation is superb, the team intros are great. You just feel like you are watching a real soccer game while playing, and this is something very few sports games are able to achieve. I would recommend it but be warned that if you haven't played it before you are probably in for a steep learning curve at anything but the lowest level.

Yeah, I'm barely getting by on 3 star level. I'll occasionally have a few runs of 0-0 games which can be frustrating. My problem is you actually need to practice the darn game to master all the intricacies and I'm too lazy to do that. So many button combos. Watching does really feel like you are watching a real soccer game. Sometimes it's mesmorizing.

I have Winning Eleven 6 and I just didn't see enough improvements when I played the new version (Winning Elevel 7) at my friend's house to warrant an upgrade. There are a lot of subtle improvements but nothing glaring.

Cool, this is more or less what I was looking for.

I know it's a great game, don't question that because I had a blast with 6. I'm just wondering if it was enough to warrant me dropping another 50 bucks on the new one, and fighting with my PS2 again.

Anyone think it's a huge step up from 6?

Completely off topic: Has anybody tried this game?

hxxp://www.championshipsoccer.net/

I gave the demo a try, but couldn't get my gamepad to work with it, so I didn't really get into it much.

Hmm, the idea sounds neat. Never heard of the game though, definitely worth looking into more though.

EDIT: Furthermore, the idea of having a sports game where each player is controlled by an actual person gets me all tingly inside.

Dola,

Ok, the more I look at that game klayman the more interested I am in it. It actually looks like a lot of fun, and reminds me a lot of Sensible, which I'm guessing is what he was going for from reading.

I'll definitely be dl'ing this sucker when I get home. Hope I can get it to work with a gamepad, and I'm a little worried about how "tough" the control scheme is, see if that's annoyings.

Has a lot of promise though, I like the whole playing with one player throughout his career thing, type of thing I love in a sports game.

My first triple-dola, tis a glorious day.

Well I think I've made up my mind. I think I'm going to go ahead and buy Pro Evolution Soccer 3 for the PC to compromise. I'm under the assumption that WE7:I is actually just PES3 renamed for us, as that's what I'm reading so far.

Be nice to have it on the PC as well, should be a lot easier to get all the modifications done without inputting everything myself.

I just rented the new Winning Eleven yesterday and it's pretty neat. I know nothing of soccer, but the presentation in the game is fannntastic. Wish I wouldn't shoot the ball over the goal everytime though

Well in my eyes, what glaring improvements could you ask for? The game is about as realistic as possible at this point. Any changes from here on out will be incremental I think like Champ Man. My main gripe is that the audience is still obviously 2D, although they have improved the atmosphere a lot. And the lack of some licenses obviously. Although it has been stated that Pro Evo 4 will be completely licensed.
