Selling players: At What Form?

Hey, all -

I have a 19 y/o trainee (keeper) who just popped to Excellent this week. I had been planning on selling him here and grabbing a good 17 y/o as a new trainee for the start of next season; but he also fell to wretched form... which I expect will seriously depress his value.

What form should a player be at to sell? Should I get him up to inad or passable form before selling, or does it need to be that high to get a decent price?

Here's the guy, for those interested:

Antonio Sánchez
291 000 US$, 19 years, wretched form
Has disastrous experience and poor leadership abilities

Stamina: wretched Keeper: excellent
Playmaking: disastrous Passing: disastrous
Winger: disastrous Defending: disastrous
Scoring: disastrous Set Pieces: passable

No way I'd sell an excellent. You're just getting to the good pay-offs. I'd keep him until Outstanding+, then sell him, but my team stinks, so what do I know.

Well... trouble is, my coach just dropped leadership and I need a new one desperately. Plus short on funds. So I figured I'd sell off this guy - if I could get 400k for him (which seems to be near the going rate for 19/20 y/o excellents) I could go into debt for a passable/passable coach.

Is this a workable plan, or should I suffer through horrible team spirit until this guy pops to a 20 y/o formidable (or outstanding?) and pick up the coach then? I have no hope of promoting this season, and should finish third or fourth in V.112.

Most definitely suffer through the relatively weak TS. If you can't promote anyways, there's no reason to worry too much about TS.

I'll echo the above sentiments. If you're not going to promote, maximise what you can get with the time invested in this guy. That means waiting until Outstanding+. Hell, even if you were in line for promotion, I'd still advocate the same course of action and just sucking it up for a season with a guy that has low ldrshp.

If you're thinking blowing out your bank account on a passable/passable, I'd strongly suggest you buy a guy with solid exp/inad-solid leadership now. That way, this time next season, you have a coach for much less than you would pay for externally recruiting a passable/passable.

Thanks for the advice, guys. :-)
