Solecismic's next masterpiece (2004 edition)

Since we did so well the last time I did this poll , I decided to try it again.

Once more, this doesn't count any patches or free upgrades.

The obvious. TCY 2

This is a game screaming for some love. Playing the game with the new QB development would pretty much complete things. I will divorce the wife, sell my son, and go AWOL if this game is released.

I voted TCY2, and right now my gut feeling (and anecdotal evidence) is running 50% TCY2, 50% new sport. My best guess is TCY2 or a baseball game.

I would certainly like to see TCY 2 or Hockey. I would also like to see Front Office Politics or a game like Capitalism.

It's amazing that a sport (NASCAR) with 75 million domestic fans does not have a good text sim dedicated to it, yet. It's a market waiting to be entered.

Might be because those 75 million hillbillies only have five computers between em... And three of them are X-boxen.

TCY2. With a few versions of FOF between now and the release of TCY, I think TCY with all of the improvements and enhancements of the latest FOF would be the logical next step.

I think there is a good chance the next game will be a combined FOF and TCY. Seriously, my not so top of the line computer sims though games fast enough and when I check the memory it doesn't even look like it is using 128 mb. It might be a bit of a pain to merge the two but think about how well that would sell. Put a lot of emphasis on you as the coach as you move up through the ranks. Or maybe Al Davis fires you and you have to go back to Nebraska or whatever. Instant classic.

TCY2 with more than 54% of the 81 votes at this point. The masses have spoken.

If he does NOT produce what we want, I say we grab pitchforks & torches, march on New Hampshire, and lay siege to his castle.

I voted for TCY2, I'm thinking he's ready to re-vamp the college years. Oh how I can imagine the list of additions and improvements.

FOF2005 would be a close 2nd though. There's so much I'm sure he's itching to add, expand, and incorporate into FOF2k4. But, then again who knows what Jim is thinking?

just for the record, I voted for TCY2 also, but I was following the letter of the poll (what do we think his next game will be, not what we want for his next game). I'd love to see his take on baseball - but I wonder if he considers that market a little too crowded now, with OOTP6 and what looks to be a highly ambitious Total Pro Baseball

I haven't been followed TPB. Is Shaun going to try to significantly improve the sim speed from PureSim?

I've read that he is, but he said that the game calculates each sim pitch-by-pitch, so its impossible to get it sim at the speed of a game like FOF or OOTP.

I very well could be wrong here, I'm going off something I read several months ago.

Edit: here's what he said.

Quote:
# Speed! Speed! Speed! - Probably the biggest complaint about PureSim was that it was too slow. Huge gains have been made here. Creating an association takes 1/3 the time and sim speed has improved to the point where I can sim a 16 team league in 8 minutes on my 1.9ghz Pentium. I track (and store) the results of every pitch, so Total Pro will never be the fastest horse in the race, but sim times are quite acceptable given all the stuff that is being managed. The act of jumping in to an association, creating it and playing is just much more streamlined now with all the "noise" removed.

Here's the link, I'm probably going to be buying this for the 1st time.

Based on the PureSim versions I played, this will be an automatic buy for me if I hear reports a day or so after the release that the speed has improved significantly. Is there a published release date target?

New Sports League, you start a new league in the sport of your choice and must compete against the existing league (kinda like the WHA is doing right now). You start small and expand as you can, charge franchise fees, set up TV contracts, ect... You must take advantage of the existing league's weaknesses and oversights (certain cities, head to head right away or not, bidding wars for players, ect...) and try to not only stay in existance but prosper over time.

I haven't seen anything posted other than "Summer 2004". Which is a disappointment, but if he can make all the changes to the engine work, it should be worth the wait.

I played the 1st version of Puresim, and the the 2 things that turned me off the most were the sim speed and the "flat" player generation that he mentioned. However, it felt more like baseball that OOTP, but I really couldn't get past the sim speed.
