FOF: Nickel Defense question

Does anyone know what LB is the most likely to be taken out when you run a nickel set? I figure it either WLB or SLB, with my normal set a 4-3, but this is a big difference on a team like mine, where my SLB stinks and my WLB is great. If it is always one over the other, then i want to put my best LB in the spot that will be on the field in a nickel set, since i plan on increasing my nickel usage do to the amount of passing succuss other teams are having against me.

Also in a dime, is the MLB the LB left in?

WLB

WLB and WILB when you go to the Dime.

WLB comes off the field in nickel.
yes, I believe the MLB is the lone linebacker (when playing a 4-3) left in there when in dime defense.

This topic was definitely discussed at length at some point, so you may want to check the reference thread.

Sorry - I just realized my answer was based on the 3-4, which I play in FOFL.

In a 4-3, the MLB comes off the field when you go to a Dime formation (as Corey says...).

wait... are you sure about that last bit?

in a 4-3 defense, in the dime package... what LB is on the field? SLB or MLB?

I KNOW the WLB is replaced in the nickel, and as jfbbis said, I'm pretty sure the SLB is replaced in the dime.

It is easy to test. Have your MLB set to be the only one blitzing. Then, call your own plays and blitz every time. Run the dime defense and see if your MLB is blitzing or if he's been replaced.

You could also test it by setting your SLB to be the only one blitzing and then see if your dime back is the one who blitzes in dime coverage.

I would say ON the field. Just look at the number of pass plays in the boxscores :
it's always SLB first then MLB then WLB.

If someone could run the test I outlined above, we can get a definitive answer.

(I don't have the game installed at work, or I would)

I have concluded for a fact how things work in the 3-4 defense.

Nickel: WLB comes off the field
Dime: WLB & SILB come off the field

Now, i have concluded the SILB comes off the field in the dime by adding up the number of passing plays my SILB and Dime back see each game - they always add up the the number of passing plays.

Personally, I feel this is something that should be corrected in a patch or future version of the game. It just seems wrong to me that the SILB would come off, but the WILB stays on. I think the SLB and SILB should be the two linebackers on the field in the dime defense.
