Ping: Ardent

I found the candidate speech your new hattrick friend made very amusing:

I''ve had an exceptional track record as a series V manager, having won over 80% of my matches in 2.5 seasons. I believe I have the most specific plans of any candidate for the national team. I would attack a lot with occasional defensive games to keep our opponents off guard. I would increase the number of defenders on the roster, I would get the youngest players playing time in qualifiers for the experience, I would play more offensive wingers. Thank you for your vote.

*Exceptional D.V manager, which clearly makes him ready to be a national trainer.

*Attacking sometimes, defend other times. Uh, got it...

*Play offensive wingers, a bold new strategy. I don't think it's been tried before, so if he does win will have to watch closely for the results.

I'd be worried about my chances of being elected now that he'd thrown his hat into the ring if I were you.

I don't want to attack this candidate, although he has attacked me and FOFC. I do wonder what my winning percentage would be like if I had spent 2.5 seasons in DV.

It's a crapshoot. I've spent a little less than 2.5 seasons in V right now, I'm not significantly worse than QVB, and I'll still be lucky if I can promote this season. All I can do is be patient, keep upgrading, and eventually I'll hit the top of the heap in my series.

True. Had I arrived in DV.92 just a few weeks later, I would have probably stayed there for a few seasons. Both the Central Winners and San Marcos Texans came out of my series.

Damn I should have run when I was in V. I won over 90% of my games in the 2 1/4+ seasons I was there.

Woah....I missed this little flareup till now. What exactly happened to set him off? Looks like all the good stuff has been deleted.

Nothing set him off. He took a potshot at ardent. Went something like this:

"I've won my last 25 leagues games while one of my cheif competitors recently had one of the worst seasons in the history of III."

Heh. Elsewhere in the thread, he takes shots at people who have thrown games/qualifiers. So if Ardent had decided he wasn't ready for III and tanked a few games to say in IV, he would have gotten attacked, too. Essentially, Ardent would be a bad national coach because he won his IV series sooner than perhaps he should have.

The guy also said FOFC now controlled virtually every election, with the exception of slashers getting re-elected. We've had one candidate win national office, and only because he had plenty of support elsewhere.

He's not just a jackass, but an idiot as well.

He probably has the perception that FOFC has been pretty forward about supporting Ardent (which they have), but I don't think it's all that different from the folks I've seen supporter OP, or the USCHOers supporting him.
