Special Event/Specialty Question

My game today should be in the rain.

My normal right back is a "Quick" defender. I have a backup who is a slight downgrade, but not much, who has no specialty.

I know that a Powerful player from the other team could get a Special Event goal on me, but I was wondernig if there is another SE goal involving a "Quick" defender???

Thanks for any help!

Not sure, but I thought that a Quick Defender can be hampered in the rain.

They most definately can. Last match, my quick defender that gets 3.5* just for showing up, got 1.5* and a match report indicating he sucked it up because of the weather.

I don't really care about a drop in performance all that much... but since it will be low-scoring game, I want to avoid any and all special event goals.

K, guess there is a very significant performance drop that would make my backup better anyways. Thanks damnMikeBrown!!

One thing I'm not clear on, do players with specialties where performance is affected by weather see the difference in performance if there's no event for it in the match report?

No, Mr. Wednesday, I don't believe so. I am not 100% sure, however.

Your Quick defender will show a performance downgrade because of his style of play. The Powerful opponent will have a performance upgrade because of his style of play. They don't really go head-to-head against each other, a la Technical-versus-Head or Quick-versus-Anything Else. I'm also not aware of a "Powerful Event Goal", unless the Devs added some in the offseason.

Might would be the better word choice:

From the HT rules:

If a "weather event" happens, a certain player is affected for the rest of the game (and his player rating will reflect his performance accordingly).

I've only seen one weather event triggered in all my matches. Further, the event could come late, in which the outcome might already be determined. There's a great article on Hottrick about specialties that points out how infrequent the weather events are.

I'll probably pay one day, but I don't adjust my lineups for weather events that aren't all that likely.

Ahhh, good point. "Might" is definitely a better choice of word.
