10/12 had Charlotte over Texas Tech and Michigan State over Nevada
The evenings round features a bunch of games I wasn't sure of... (namely UNC-Air Force and DePaul-Dayton) so I'm not sure just how good (or poorly) I'll be looking at the end of the day. |

Missed Texas Tech, Maryland, and Alabama. Oh well, had the others out in the 2nd round, so no major damage

Charlotte, Florida and MSU for me so far. MSU's the only team of the 3 I had getting out of the 2nd round, so no big loss so far.
now I just need 'Bama to beat Stanford in Rnd 2 and I'll be back on track.

I always have my main bracket and my fun bracket.
Basically, the concept is that the main bracket is the artistic one: the upsets picked are calculated risks, mostly early and few go too far but there has to be at least one or two unlikely seeds in the Sweet 16. You know they'll be there, so why not try to pick them. If you pick all the favorites, you deserve your place in the middle of the pack, nothing ventured and nothing gained. In a bracket like this, it's all about calculated risk. If a stronger team has a tougher road, I tend to take the slightly weaker team with the much easier road (Okie State as opposed to Pitt, for instance). This leads to less of a bracket collapse if Wisconsin or Richmond upends Pitt but if Pitt makes it to face Okie State, they have the edge because they're the better team. For this bracket, the money in the bank is to be made in the last few rounds, not picking the all out favorite because the consensus #1 rarely wins and when they go down, I'm there to pick up the bracket pieces. Any bracket that loses its number 1 is in trouble, but if I lose mine before the Final 4, I might as well pack it in. So, yeah, I'm banking on Kentucky not winning it all (tho, I do have them in my title game) and I need Stanford to go far, for instance. Today, in my main bracket, I went 9/16 which is pretty bad but of those 7 teams I lost, I only lost 1 Sweet 16 team so as long as Saturday falls my way, I've lost very little. Then there's the upset bracket. This is the one that if you get some of these longshots right, you just sit back and grin if something falls your way. By the end of the first weekend, it's probably in tatters. If not, it's pretty damn cool when you're the only one in your bracket group with that Charlotte-Manhattan Sweet 16 match picked correctly. This is all about looking at the weak seeds (St Joes, Vandy, Florida, etc) and just attacking their side of the bracket. You think St Joes is overseeded? Why not put your money where your mouth is, see which of Texas Tech and Charlotte matches up better and pick them to beat them. Like St Joes somewhat but think Manhattan is going to take down Florida? Why not have them in the Sweet 16 after upsetting Wake? I mean, after all, Wake's erratic and it's well within the realm of possibility. This bracket has issues today as Charlotte was an E8 team (yes, I had that aforementioned Charlotte-Manhattan S16 game). Overall, I went 9 for 16, like my main bracket. I did lose another S16 team as I had the somewhat improbable (but possible) Arizona over Duke. I still think Illinois has a good shot to knock off Duke, so I'm not hurting too much there. Then again, if they go out and lay an egg tomorrow, I might as well toss my bracket out the window. SI

On my other bracket? 14/16, I picked DePaul.

Nevada screwed me in the St. Louis regional, where I'm 1/2 (thank God for Gonzaga).
fortunately, I only had Mich St. winning one game anyway, so unless Gonzaga gets stunned, that's the extent of my damage in that bracket (so far). I went 3/4 in East Rutherford, with Florida being my mis-step. That one hurts, because I had Florida going to the Sweet Sixteen. Sentimentally, I'm bummed that Air Force lost, but I had picked North Carolina to beat 'em, so I'm 4-4 in Atlanta so far. I misfired on Southern Illinois, UTEP, and Dayton in Phoenix, but again, I only had their opponents winning the one game anyway, so as long as Stanford, UConn, and Syracuse take care of business, the damage is minimized. All in all, I'm 11/16 but, again, all five of the teams I picked to win who lost I had bowing out in the next round anyway, so I still have a shot at being 58/63 when the dust clears, if the rest of my picks work out. ![]() |

Im not doing very well at 10-6, and to make it worse my wife is 16-0!!! Only good part is the winning pot is over a grand. If she wins it could help pay for our vacation, but then again I would have to listen to her brag.

My 'main' bracket (money bracket) has me at 13-3. I missed out on Michigan State, Southern Illinois, and Arizona. However, I had all those teams going out in the second round, so it really doesn't matter. They way I look at it is, how many Elite Eight teams do you keep in the competition? My goal after the first weekend is to have seven left. You are in pretty good shape if you can get that.

I was 9/10 if we don't have to look at Phoenix (although I had Florida going E8)
I'm 12/16 if we have to include that region (missed SIU, UTEP, Dayton although I had none of them going any further). I've got WMU, South Carolina, and UAB for upsets today, otherwise I need the seedings to hold to get my bracket back on track. |

I think I've got everyone beat - 10/16!
Although in fairness (to me!), I took a grand total of 3 minutes to fill out the brackets, and I know next to nothing about 85% of college basketball teams, anyway. I got sucked into the office pool at the last minute. I'll probably get beat by the secretary who was making picks based on word association (stuff like, "Oh, I used to live on Richmond Street!").

I have been burned by lower seeds too many times in the past to pick them very often on my main bracket. This year, Manhattan and Western Michigan were the two lowest seeds I picked. Usually I pick about twice that number, but I am glad I didn't this time around. As an aside, I did pick Air Force in the FOFC ESPN bracket, but changed to UNC at the last minute in my 'money' bracket. |

Started 9/12 but got 3 of the last 4 (damn Dayton). I missed most of my picks out west, picking SIU (who I had over Stanford - go Bama!) the aforementioned Dayton, and UTEP.
Tough night session, huh MrBug. You angered the bracket gods by publicly announcing that you were perfect.

20-4 in my best bracket. My FOFC ESPN bracket (the one I consider my "official" one) is 17-7. Best I can say is that the majority of my brackets still have at least 14 of 16 surviving Sweet 16 picks and all Elite 8s. One bracket is going down in flames, though, at 15-9 and has lost 5 Sweet 16 and one Elite 8 (Mich. State).
Not doing too badly. This weekend should provide a shakeup, though, especially if high seeds start to fall. |

I'm 19-5, but lost Charlotte in the Sweet 16 and Arizona in the Elite 8. Other three losses were Arizona, UTEP (that was for you, Jeeber), and Dayton. Started the tourney 0-3, have gone 19-2 since then.

Wow, I'm 19-5 in my Yahoo bracket, with 1 Elite Eight team gone (UF), but nobody else missing from the S16.
However, a few minutes ago, I checked the bracket I did for a contest with people from Atlanta, and wouldn't you know I'm 22-2! Only Florida was going to the S16, and no farther. I have all the favorites picked tonight, but some rather large upsets in the next round. Bracket could run out to a huge, huge lead after the weekend, or fall behind with no hope of climbing back up.
