Have you ever been in jail? And for how long?

Thinking about the Greg Lloyd case made me wonder how many former jailbirds we have around here. Don't be shy...we are all family and can hide family secrets.

I spent the night in the Sherriff's hotel back in the 80's after attempting to drive home from a now defunct bar. The 'room' was packed, it being close to Thanksgiving and I guess the Holiday spirit was spilling over for many. One particular black guy kept harrassing me for some reason, until I remembered some prison movie and started doing push-ups on the bench I was laying on. After giving him a hard look he left me alone. I felt just like Burt Reynolds in Longest Yard!

Later, a young white kid came in and the same black guy starts saying to him "check 'em in!" looking at the kid's tennis shoes. I guess this was street lingo for 'give them to me your being robbed, but I'm making it sound like you need to check your shoes back into the gym." Very cute. The kid just looked confused and said nothing. Nobody else seemed to care about him or anything but just breathing in place.

It sure cured me, though. I quit tipping the bottle shortly thereafter and never missed drinking since. I also hear the penalties have substantially increased for that particular error also, both in terms of time sequestered, public service and fines. I got a fine and probation and never looked back, and learned my lesson.

I got nabbed trying to use a doctored id card when i was 18. Spent the night. The police sgt. asked why i was going to the bar. I told him it was for the women. He gave me the advice that 18-year-old pu**y is just as good as 30-year-old pu**y. I countered that the 30-year-old pu**y had been drinking for a few hours and was therefore more willing then the 18's. He told me I had a point and released me with a court date...

(BTW, the time when I was a stupid kid don't count because it has supposedly been removed from my record. Let's call it a "youthful indescretion...")

I would like to say that i have been out of trouble for almost 15 years now.

I spent alot of my youth in juvie/correctional schools

First off you get label from police officers and they know you(and you will be seen in a bad light if you are in the wrong crowd/family) When i was in a fight it didn't take long for the police to find out and it didn't matter about self defense or fighting the battles of my handicapped friend(which was usually the case). I was the problem and whatever i said/did is only viewed as "resisting" Its not an easy cycle to break and i would be a lifer/dead right now if a few things didn't fall into place for me (i met a woman who i fell in love with, and got a chance to be a pro boxer).

anyways i spent alot of time with shrinks and yes i have very serious anger management issues. I am a completly diffrent person now and i have not struck another person in anger in years.

1 night in jail for throwing a Phone and hitting my dad in the face. Was an accident because I was mad and turned and threw it at the couch but he was right behind me. I didnt make it better, because I started swearing at him and stuff and telling him to die. But thats one night and 6 months probation which is nuthing to me since I dont party or drink. HEck at my college u get community service for smoking, drinking and sex. After a few offenses they just kick u out.

I've spent probably a few hours in jail. But sometimes I wanted to be there. Sometimes it's better to sit there and give other people a chance to land on Boardwalk with a Hotel.

Damn, crazy stuff has gone on with some of you. The only crimes I've been convicted of are 2 minor marijuana possesion charges when I was 15 and 16 years old. I got community service twice. Actually, since my parents were the ones who had to sign off on the community service. They allowed me to go to Vegas with them and another family. Supposedly, this girl my age had some problem of some kind, I don't know I wasn't listening, and they said my community service would be talking to her and being a counsel or something. She was hot and my age so it ended up just me and her fooling around in Vegas for a weekend. YAY California justice system!!!

Seriously, never spent a minute in jail (though I know a few who did).

Real good movie! Favorite scene, after picking on the guy and his father in prison his one buddy sees the 'new man' and says to Daniel Day Lewis "looks like we got the real thing this time." Don't agree with the IRA and its tactics but pity the Limey's wanting to mess with him.
