Top Spin tennis impressions
I just picked up this game, and am fairly impressed. I've never owned a tennis game, and don't watch the sport very much (mostly only when I stumble on female players who look purty), so I can't tell you how it is if you are a die hard tennis fan. But as a casual tennis fan, it is really fun. Good pick up and play title. The controls seem easy enough to grasp the basics, but deep enough that you have a lot to master if you want to take the time.
Just started a solo career. Won my first tourney with my created chick. I think I'll stick with the women because their matches are shorter and they're easier on the eyes. ![]() |

It is a very nice game I just picked it up recently as well. I have been playing it on Xbox Live and while I have been losing terrible it is still fun to have some good points back and forth

Nothing will ever beat Super Tennis for SNES.

I never played Virtua Tennis, but I remember one of the reviews I read (I think it was IGN) said it was better than Virtua Tennis, fwiw.

This is the tennis game that is only available on the X-Box, correct?

I think its an OK game. The main problem is that the solo play gets really old fast. That and the fact that you never really hit the ball out. I'm by no means a "thumb jockey", but once you get the timing down, its really hard to lose, because you never make an unforced error.

The only tennis game I've ever played was the old GameBoy version. I loved playing that game...

I played this once and thought it was a spiffy little game. It was easy to pick up and play, which makes it good for 4 players.
Id buy it if they made it one of those greatest hits titles. |

I got my copy at Best Buy for $30. Not too shabby.

It's not for people who want a really realistic tennis sim. But it is a lot better than anything else that has come out.
The problem is, the game rewards more for great timing than it does for good positioning and shot selection - so it caters more to the "video game" fans than the "tennis" fans. YMMV.

Agreed. But then again, what else is new in the console world. |
