Wow! This is great news, as far as I'm concerned. In simple terms, a swap of Taylor for Springs, which I'll take any day of the week.

Yeah, maybe they can hire "A" to play left CB, while "B" plays right CB.

Hell, I was hoping we'd get him. Ataway Cinci. . .good to know that this glaring weakness will go untended for yet another year. At least we got that DL that we needed. . wait, missed that too. Well, we got a second tier MLB & Safety though! Hey, great work guys!
Wait, I know what will happen. We'll sign some random FA that will, with luck, be our dime DB. Damn Mike Brown. |

I love Otis Smith. He's the ultimate russian-roulette corner. |

absolutely no doubt about it. I still vividly remember being at the Jets-Tampa game when he returned two interceptions for touchdowns. Of course, he gave back more than two against many, many other teams. ![]() |

So...Bobby Taylor is going to armtackle for Seattle this year, eh?

Say what you will about Otis Smith, but the hit he laid on Marc Bulger on a corner blitz in the last game of the season made it worthwhile having a 600 year old cornerback start almost every game! |

Bobby Taylor is the most over-rated cornerback in the league. He cannot tackle to save his life and he gets burnt a hell of a lot for big plays. He had one very good game, the Michael Irvin game (which wasn't all him since he had safety help over the top on every one of those plays allowing him to take extra chances), and has been living off that game ever since.
What sucks is that I also like the Seahawks (though it was less complicated when they were in the AFC and not the same conference as the Eagles). So now I still have to put up with watching him bite on a pump fake and get burnt on double move. |

So is he a safety now? I read how Ray Rhodes wanted to play him at free safety. I don't see why Seattle gave him all that money when they already have two young starters.

I'm guessing he'll be a utility player for them, probably primarily a nickle back, but I'm guessing primary backup at nearly all the defensive backfield positions. Unless they're moving Hamlin to SS, he'll be the starting FS, Lucas and Trufant on the corners, Robinson (think he's still there) will probably slide into the SS role with Tongue in New York.
That said, I'm hoping for a safety to be taken in the draft so Robinson can be the main safety backup/mentor with Taylor spelling Lucas and Trufant on the islands.

Although, I agree Bobby is an overrated player, I'm very concerned about the Eagle's current crops of Cornerbacks. I don't think Lito Sheppard or Sheldon Brown are the answer. If he stays healthy, Kearse should help the secondary, but I hope we bring someone else into the mix that can play cornerback.

I genuinely like him. The man has provided a lot of fans with a lot of on-field thrills... just not always for the right reason. Still, there's something thrilling about having him line up at CB. ![]() |
