The FOFC All-Time NFL Team: Cornerbacks

***** VOTING CLOSED *****

The NFL has an all-decade team. The NBA has an "official" list of the 50 Greatest Players in NBA History. If there's enough interest, I thought we could create the FOFC All-Time NFL Team since football is what brought most people to this forum to begin with.

It works like this, I post a poll for each position, and classify players by their positions. Generally, all players will be listed by a position, not which side they play on or if they're strong side. FOFC voters pick enough players to fill a regular team. At the bottom of this opening statement, I'll list all previous results and you will be able to see names and player pictures as the team is built. If you do not agree with the nominees in the all-time position vote, please feel free to write-in your candidate. Some suggestions for other players are at the bottom of this thread.

FOFC selects:

3 Quarterbacks
4 Running backs
3 Tight Ends
5 Wide Receivers
4 Offensive Tackles
4 Offensive Guards
2 Centers
4 Defensive Ends
4 Defensive Tackles
5 Linebackers
4 Safeties
5 Cornerbacks
1 Kicker and Punter

Have a webpage set up now for the final team results.Click here for the FOFC All-Time NFL Team Page.

Wide receiver voting in progress Link: http://dynamic2.gamespy.com/~fof/for...ad.php?t=23560

If I make any mistakes on the stats, let me know. Thanks.

You could have debatebly have included Ronnie Lott here, who started his career at CB (even making the pro bowl). Still, he'll likely be a lock in the safety category.

I voted Night Train and Deion, two absolutely different styles.

Yeah, I thought about including Lott. In the end because he might be known more for safety, I went ahead and saved him for that.

FYI, two of those pic links don't work (Adderley and Blount)

Also, wouldn't it be better to make'em public polls ?

Otherwise, great idea !

Is anyone else having problems viewing Adderley and Blount? They're working on my browser. I'll find new pics if people can't see them. I'm thinking public polls might be a good choice for future positions too.

Give me a Deion any day of the week. Let the other 10 guys worry about the run.

Hey, I voted for the guy. I can't deny he was an insanely good cover corner, and spectacular kick returner in his early days. The dude was a threat to go the distance any time he had the ball. Still, he was shall we say... lacking... in run support.

Exactly. Deion gets too much crap for his tackling. As a Cowboys fan, I'll also add that Deion makes for one of the most exciting punt returners you'll ever watch.

He was named first-team by default, we're just voting for the #2 CB.

One last bump for the corners. The quarterbacks have a lot more votes. I'll post the starting QBs and CBs tomorrow when I put up two new polls for an offensive and defensive position.

I don't why so many people voted for Sanders, it must be the hype. There are 6 players up there who have more career INT's amd we all know how horrible Deion was at tackling...

The all time NFL team called and wondered why you didn't put their man, Rod Woodson on the ballot.

My write in is Rod Woodson.

Rod Woodson is a pretty big omission... I only voted for four in my first ballot, but I think he'd make mine had I thought of him (which I confess I didn't).

INT dont mean anything... if they dont throw your way how can you get ints? Deion basically had the league in fear when he played they refused to throw his way... that my friend is not hype.

INT's aren't always the best measure of how a CB is doing. There were times that QB's wouldn't throw the ball anywhere near him. Hard to get a pick when that happens.

You have to vote for Blount. They changed the rules because of him.

I agree Rod Woodson is a big omission. I thought more people would use the "other" option and write him in. I'll make it up to Steelers, Ravens and Raidahs fans and include him in the safeties since he didn't spend a long stint at the position and can play both.

There's a tie between Willie Brown and Mike Haynes for the 5th corner. Raiders fans are going to have to kick one of them off. Voting stays open for this.

I voted for three that were in the list and these two, not sure how they got left out:

Lester hayes : Oakland Raiders (this man made stickum illegal in the NFL)
Ken Riley : Cincinnati Bengals (One of the top 5 or 6 in interceptions)
