I think this is the thing I've struggled most at with FBCB. I'm the dumb guy who likes to have an "overall" score to use as a tiebreaker when deciding what players to go with. I use the recommend button to get started, but then when it comes down to the final few starters, I got nothing.
I'll give my current situation as an example: I hit the "recommend" button and the game wants me to start 3 big guys (all 6'8" or bigger). But the guy they have as the SF gives up too many things that I want at that position (speed, perimeter defense, and he fouls too much). So I think I'm gonna put that guy as the #1 backup to my big guys. Plus I'm going to go with a 3-2 defense, so I want a quick guy on the perimeter. So I put the only SF on my roster in his "natural" spot. Then it comes to deciding my SG position. This decision seemed easy before I did the training camps, but apparently my redshirt freshman had a fannntastic training session. Here are the guys: Code:
Then there's the youngin'... Code:
So who do I start? I'm leaning toward using the senior as the starter and having the freshman as the first guy off the bench for the SG&SF positions. For me it'd be a much easier decision if it weren't for the frosh's INS ability. Coming off a year where I struggled to get points, I think that could help a lot. Oh well, if my team struggles, this will be the first switch I make. Any other lineup suggestions would be welcome. Especially with how to successfully set "PT" for all players. Thanks ![]() |

Do you have a great PG already starting? If not, I might look at Hall being the starting PG with Mitchell starting at SG. I'm not sure that my opinion should be worth much though. I'm not exactly shaking up the world in my game.

Mitchell looks like he'll hurt you as a full time player, at least this season. he'll be good for points of the bench, but he'll get burned on the defensive end. try and work on his ball skills, or else he'll be a Trajan Langdon type spot shooter.

In close cases I always go for the older guy. Experience seems to count for something even if it isn't much.

I do already have a PG with mad mad passing&handling skills. He's improved slightly over last year, but this year my team has more guys who can "make plays" so his assist numbers are way up. As are my team numbers.
I think I made the right choice having Mitchell come off the bench. Both he and the senior Hall are scoring like crazy. Code:
Mitchell might be the most explosive offensive player I've ever had. Too bad he can't handle the ball worth a sh...hey hey kids!!! His defense skills don't scare me as much as his awful ball-handling ability. Plus for the first time ever my team doesn't struggle with TO's, but Mitchell still has 2.8 TO/game. I think this is a great role for Mitchell, and he may end up in this spot all 4 years. That's projecting a bit too far for now, but I'll take what he's given me so far. Hopefully he can average 10 PPG for his first season. This year is shaping up to be a solid one ![]() |

That's a pretty impressive points per minute ratio. If he can keep that up all year, you'll do pretty well.

I decided this season to let this guy start his junior year as a starter. He rewards my #22 ranked Wright State Raiders with an absolute thumping of a solid Xavier squad. CHECK OUT HIS NUMBERS!!! A new WSU school record for points in a game. Absolutely amazing. It boosted our rank in the polls to #12 with a 1-0 record. This is the highest I've ever been ranked. It will disappear, but for now I'm dancing ![]() Question about team strategy: for the inside/balanced/outside thing, if I say "inside," does that mean ALL my guys will look to drive to the basket/take more closer shots? Or does it mean that we'll go to the inside players? I'd guess the former, but I'd like clarification. If this guy averages 20 PPG like I think he can, we should be dancing in Dayton, Ohio this year! ![]() Edit: He "only" played 34 minutes. In the other six minutes, my redshirt freshman came in and got TEN points! What a sweet 105-81 victory! ![]() Last edited by kingnebwsu : 04-05-2004 at 03:15 AM. |
