Pennywise was the one of the coolest villians....until the end of the movie. So, I think The Shining is the only Stephan King movie that had an ending I didn't think sucked.

This post was inspired by the Pottymouth thread.

The ending of the movie and the end of the book are kinda-sorta the same, but not really. The book is about a million times better than the movie. The book is one of my all-time favorites, and I think that the movie was a piece of shit....

I've heard this a million times...and yet I still kind of want to see the movie. The book was amazing, and one of my favorites.

My favorite Stephen King book, however, is The Long Walk.

What I love about it is the whole time I'm sitting there thinking to myself, "Dude...I could totally win that thing!" Then I really think about it, and I realize that there's no way in hell...

The problem with the book is it's about 80,000 pages long. Yet I still read all of it and came away from it feeling as I do after every Stephen King book I've ever read:

Well, THAT could've been done better.

I like Stephen King books. Not that I've read 'em all, but I loved The Stand and have enjoyed the Dark Tower series quite a bit. Granted, I started reading the Dark Tower series when I was a Freshman... IN HIGHSCHOOL. I'm 30 now. That's ridiculous. Luckily it's all coming to an end and the last two books will be out soon. I am just going to wait until the last book is published and start back over from the begining.

The man's gift is characters. He just creates such solid, cool, believeable characters, some time in the space of a paragraph.

Well if you want people to read the book because they were disappointed with the ending in the movie then they are going to be disappointed in the book as well. I agree that the book is FAR better than the movie, but the main reason the ending sucked in the movie is because the ending sucked in the book.

I am a huge King fan, but that book really went downhill after the first half.

Agreed.

He did such a fantastic job of establishing and describing the ultimate horror for each character, then he had nothing left for the finale. A spider? Ooooooooo. Scary.
